Tapas Barcelona has a full bar that offers guests various drinks, including Spanish selections of wine. Its atmosphere is ideal for meeting up with an old friend for lunch or having dinner with the family. This restaurant welcomes reservations and provides take-out services.
Over all it's good, but the portion could be a touch bigger... It's very small and a bit pricey for the amount you receive
I have been to Spain and tasted true tapas. Unfortunately I was underwhelmed with my dining experience. The tapas were, at best, mediocre.
Told them a head of time it was our anniversary. Got there lots of tables open but took us to a small table next to an open window. It was cold and windy. I closed the window and receive applause from several tables for closing the window. Ordered paella then was told later that it takes 40 min. Also ordered 6 small plates and first course came out all wrong. Waited some more for next round. Food looked great but all very bland and tasteless. Paella was only thing with any flavor. Also ordered sangria. Not great either. 10 min before we left waiter asked if I would like another sangria. I said sure. Never got it. At least I was not charged for it. And no they never acknowledge our anniversary. Nothing special no reason to go back.
This had been a go to spot for us since they opened. The menu is diverse and the specials always good. Their forte are the awesome sauces!
We had a large group and Tapas Barcelona was a great choice for them. We had two young kids with us and our server did a great job getting them settled and fed right away with kid friendly options. The bacon wrapped dates and the goat cheese were so good and the sangria is delicious. Great time as always!
We came here for graduation dinner and had a great and fun meal. A lot of great choices and all were delicious. We loved the avocado and crab and the sangria. All small plates were yummy and the price was right. Good value and lively atmosphere. Good service.
Service is hit or miss. We happened to experience the "miss." Ready to serve Tapas are very good. Made-to-order dish was way oversalted, verging on inedible.
We had a wonderful time for a birthday dinner where the restaurant was accommodating and served delicious food.
Great food, causal setting.
Excellent value. 5 of us ordered different tapas and all were delicious. Paella is very good.
Food is excellent. Service very good.
By the time we got there, they had run out of bread. At a tapas place! Sad.
Excellent food, nice ambiance. Enjoyed my experience at Barcelona.
We had a wonderful evening with the best service
Good food and service
Most dishes were very good. Tilapia and salmon were cooked right. Sauce for chicken skewers was fantastic. The crab dish could have used some more crab meat. The patatas bravas were not as good as rest. Great affordable wine selections.
My wife and I enjoyed this restaurant. The food and service was very good. We ordered an assortment of hot tapas which we liked very much. Toward the end we ordered the Valenciana Paella. The paella was good but it was probably unnecessary at the that point since we had plenty of tapas before we had to tackle the paella. I would recommend the hot tapas with the grilled chicken (pincho de pollo) or beef (pulpito a la plancha). They were quite flavorful. I thought the pale ale they had on draft was excellent also. My wife really liked the house sangria.
The location of the restaurant was great also. There was a public parking garage with reasonable rates just around the corner on Church St. We walked to the lake afterward (very close).
We happened to visit on a day with perfect weather and we sat next to an open window. I wanted to high five the guy dining on the outdoor patio on the other side of the window but I resisted the urge.
We had a wonderful time! Service was prompt and very friendly. Food was delicious! It came out fresh and piping hot each time. Will definitely be back! Highly recommend!
Very good food; reasonable prices; diverse selection
It took 30 minutes to have someone come by our table. The staff was all very friendly though they seemed understaffed. Once placing our order the food came out quick; but too quick. At times there was no table space to put our next item. The food itself was very tasty and good!
Love Tapas or small plates. Busy but not too noisy. The variety was great. A little difficult to decide. Went with the very traditional jamon manchego & tomate, the special artichoke stuffed with crab, pollo with potato and the snails. All were delicious. We probably could have had 2 more plates but decided on dessert. We chose the frozen chocolate mousse and the banana with caramel pistachio and ice cream. Very yummy. Can’t wait to return to try other plates and paella.
Delicious, fairly priced food, quickly served, and with very friendly and quick waiters and service staff. Highly recommend!
We all enjoyed the dishes we ordered. The tapas dishes had light flavorful sauces. The paella could benefit from some flavorful sauce added.
We were very lucky to spend a few months in Barcelona a few years back and are huge tapas fans. While Tapas Barcelona is not exactly traditional, it's a very clever and delicious of mix of some Mexican ingredients and Spanish tapas style dishes and is a really fun and friendly restaurant and bar that has great service and is very reasonably priced. It's going to become a regular for us.
Tapas were okay sangria was good didn't try the paella
We went here before a concert at Northwestern. The waiter, David was so professional, kind and attentive. Also, he was hot and had the sexiest accent this side of Madrid. But, back to the real reason to visit: the food is outstanding!! I recommend the marinated olives as a light appetizer, then get the paella to share.
Tapas were very good, you can go without ordering a paella though. Little mushy and overpriced. Grilled baby octopus and bacon-wrapped dates were by far the best tapas we got.
Always good and tapas selection rivals authentic Spanish Tapas from Barcelona
This is a great place. And if you go, you must get the bacon-wrapped dates. The shrimp is also a must. Pizzas are delicious, service is excellent, prices amazing, and decor cute. The place was full on a Thursday night--glad we had reservations!
Food was delicious and authentic. Service was a little slow but they were pretty busy. But, once my order was placed the food arrived quickly.
Our server was extremely friendly and kind. I believe he was the only server on the floor when we were there but he made sure to get us everything we asked for. His personality was light and refreshing, making the experience very enjoyable. Thank you Barcelona Tapas!!
We were here on Saturday night. It does get crowded so I would highly recommend a reservation. The food is excellent. the service was a touch on the slow side but they were extremely busy so that is understandable. We would highly recommend.
Every dish we tried was terrific, and beautifully presented. Our waiter was friendly and quite helpful; this was our first time at the restaurant so needed some guidance on how much to order. I had the delicious white sangria and my friend had the red. Both were very nice and a nice complement to our meal. For dessert, we had the poached pear offering which was exceptional. We would recommend the restaurant and all of the dishes we had--asparagus with 3 sauces, avocado with crabmeat salad, grilled lambchops, garlic shrimp, and the superb pera rellena.
Brought my 30 something niece for Easter dinner. She’s fairly picky about what she likes, and she lived all that we got. especially dessert :)
The food was awful. The orange/red sauce tasted like it was from a can. It also seemed like they used the same sauce on different dishes but tried to change it up by using spices. The meatball sauce was so salty and we found a hair in the meatball. Never going back.
Great pre-movie dinner. Many gluten free choices.
Amazing food as always and very accommodating to meet expectations. Staff is wonderful and food is very scrumptious.
Does not taste anything like Spanish food
We went on a Saturday evening, so Tapas Barcelona was very busy. It took awhile for the waiter to make it to our table. Along with the noise level (loud!), that's the only downside to our visit. We selected five tapas, each of them were delicious! We ordered two tapas at a time and ordered the remaining dishes during the rest of our visit. The table next to us ordered 4 or 5 tapas and they (and their small tabletop) looked overwhelmed.
The food is delicious and plentiful with a wide variety of options. Service is well paced but not intrusive. Prices food and drink are very affordable. As there aren’t any sound absorbing surfaces, the noise level made it difficult to have a conversation at our table. I will return during the summer when outside seating is available and conversation is possible.
Food was excellent, as was the service.
It was a little noisier than I like, but not terrible.
