La comida muy buena y el sitio muy chulo y con mucho ambiente. La música demasiado alta y poca luz, necesitamos la linterna del móvil para leer la carta.
Our server was excellent. We received our meal quickly and enjoyed everything she recommended. Would go back for sure.
Not as fun or cool as downtown and food not as good either. Also was daughters graduation dinner and restaurant did nothing to make it special
My son and I had dinner prior to a week night Broadway show. The staff was knowledgeable, attentive and provided great service. Tao is 20-25 minute walk to the theater district. This was my third time dining here and the food is always terrific!
Food is always good.
Overprized and overrated! Red curry scallops tastes nothing but salt, and a lot of it. The wasabi beef was tender but oh so boring! So disappointed about both food and service to that price. You will get better asian food on every take away in town.
I was disappointed that despite having been there several times information about where we like to sit etc. was NOT included in our profile and there were new people at the reception area and they had not the faintest idea where we wanted to sit. Also, every other time the music has been soft and not intrusive but this time the music was LOUD and NOISY and made conversation very difficult, I will go back but I was very disappointed overall.
The place was dirty. I didn't feel safe eating sushi there.
I have been to tao so many times,I can say that I am a frequent customer. As always you have to wait by the bar area before get seated for 15-20 minutes.(with reservation of course).
We sat down and waited for 15 minutes for our waiter to show up ,I walked to the manager and asked him for help and he took care of our table immediately.
Wonderful ambience, great food.. Stephanie who took care of us was excellent.. lots of options for kids..
Tao lost it!! I went to this restaurant since 2000 every other year. It has lost its feeling and vibe. We went on a Saturday night and had commercial music playing all night, must change this dj!! Food was average and many wine not available on the list . A shame it used to be great . Will not go back
We arrived before our reservation time and while waiting in the lounge area ordered two glasses of wine. The cost for both was $40. I didn’t finish mine (barely touched it) and when we were called for our table, left my drink behind thinking the restaurant staff would follow us with it. They did not. Lost the drink. The food was ok, but not what I expected at all based on the Tao hype. Overall dinner cost me over $200 and was pretty basic with mediocre service. I left the water a note.
Great food and scenery. TASTY & enjoyable Would definitely return
Tonight we celebrated a graduation at Tao & the food was superb. We had the Chilean sea bass, sand pot lobster, Kung pao chicken, fried rice with shrimp & fried rice with duck you can’t go wrong ordering any of these. You also need to make sure you save room for dessert the giant fortune cookie always goes over well with the entire table. Tonight we also had the molten chocolate cake because when we were there in March the wonderful manager sent us a deluxe desert which included the cake. You can’t go wrong here
Was really looking forward to dining here and was not disappointed. Ambience was excellent as was the food and service. Not too noisy and had a great atmosphere. Quite expensive but was overall a great experience.
The service is good, but the food is taste salty. Pepper steak is burn and over cooked taste salty.. red snapper sauce taste like they put a lot of fish sauce . I don’t know all the appetizers taste salty too I got duck spring, satay cod. The first Tao I went to is in Las Vegas and their food are very good. I don’t know what happens to Tao uptown....
Thank you it was great! Really good food - highly recomend the seafood
We were in town for a wedding. Excellent tapas-style menu. Great ambiance. The sea-bass satays in particular are delectable.
Great atmosphere, great FOOD, great Service
Always a good vibe.. But hardly good value. Food should be more memorable for the price.
We were stuck in traffic and I called ahead and they kept the table for us despite the fact the place was full. Great food and excellent service with good suggestions and the waitress was not intrusive by asking us every 3 minutes if everything was OK. Highly recommended
Excellent food and service as expected.
As always the food and ambiance were superb. However the service leaves something to be desired. Our waiter, Hutch, was indignant from the moment we were seated. He was obviously displeased with something and his attitude was less than welcoming. It’s unfortunate that such poor guest service happens in such a nice eatery. Management should really rethink his contribution to the service expectation a guest would have. His lack of professionalism warrants rethinking a return for our next special occasion.
Great food and ambiance. The service is always friendly and amazing.
Music is very loud
Needed the light on my phone to see food on my plate.
Dinner - excellent!
I knew TAO Uptown from a business reception I attended there in March. I was impressed with the food and drinks served during that event and was eager to take my wife for a celebratory wedding anniversary dinner. There was a wait, but not too long before we were seated on the upper level overlooking the giant Buddha. The starters were good and served promptly. The main courses were a disaster. A costly combo of lobster, shrimp and scallops in black bean sauce was served in hot pot. The shrimp weren't fresh and appeared to have been reheated. I don't recall seeing the scallops. Perhaps my wife ate the only one. The lobster was still in the shell. Utensils provided for opening were extremely messy and difficult to use on the sauce covered lobster shells. I can't imagine any diner ordering this twice. The orange crispy chicken was about as good as the frozen version you can buy at Sam's Club.
It must be noted that the service of these items was provided efficiently and graciously. It wasn't the poor servers fault that the food was below standard. The waitress removed the seafood dish from the bill, but I tipped her as it were included. She also gave us a free dessert. In short, good service but poor food makes TAO a pass for me next trip to NYC.
Excellent as always except for the 3o minute wait despite the fact we had a reservation. But the food was great and we had a great time.
Food was good but it was definitely too loud in the Restaurant. Its no fun enjoying Dinner by this noise😩
Delicious food. Great ambiance. Excellent experience.
Excellent service. We had theater reservations and our waiter was very friendly and fast. He was very attentive. We never had to ask for our water to be filled and the order and food came right out piping hot. The food was delicious and the selection excellent. The Uptown location had very friendly receptionists who sat us fight away. The bathrooms were very clean with attendant. Amazing place for fun night out and photo's with the giant Buddha.
We went here for our anniversary as a pre-theatre dinner date. The food was incredible, the drinks menu was very unique, and the atmosphere was super swanky. If you want to impress guests, this is definitely the place to go. And the food will blow you away. I tried the scallops with curry - excellent!! The spicy soup was delicious as well. I liked the fact that I could have eaten anything from the entire menu and would love to come back to try more.
They didn’t make my request for rose petals on the table. And I asked them to spell a name out on dessert and it was spelled completely wrong. The food and drinks were good. Our waiter forgot about us most of the time and our request
Food was great.
My boyfriend came from Philadelphia to NYC for the weekend. We wanted an upscale place to celebrate our anniversary by having dinner. Tao was amazing the service was great, food was great. We loved it so much we are trying to figure out when we can come back. I recommend this place for everyone visiting NYC.
Loud music at the dinner area reduces the ability to have a table conversation, but it would reduce the energy. Great place, great food VERY extensive sake menu. Simply awesome,
Will be back!
Went here before theatre...no problem getting in and out. Service was friendly and efficient but not rushed. Interesting menu, hard to choose!
Tao was great overall. They have a really good lunch pre-fix menu with great options to choose from. Delicious food and portions are generous.
Tao was extremely nice. Love the atmosphere, the food, and the desserts!
