   Tao never gets old. We went there for our wedding anniversary. We picked this place because it was my husband and I favorite place when dating. It brought many special memories. The food was outstanding, the chef is very creative in plate presentation and flavors

   Reservation was easy. Table read when we got there. Special Martini delicious. Peiking Duck for Two, delicious. My scallops with curry sauce, perfect.

   We showed up for our reservation, but since we added a guest we were not able to keep our table at the scheduled time. So we started with drinks and appetizers in the lobby area (service was not good, we had to beg for glasses after getting a bottle of champagne). Around 730, they managed to get a table for our party. We had two bills, one downstairs and the other one from the dining room and the $40 bucks from the reservation was not discounted. Now I need to go after the place for that. Bad management and service.

   Took 30 minutes after reservation to sit. Party of 6 took almost 3 hours. Had to keep asking for things - service was slow for drinks, food, clearing, etc. Food was great.

   The venue was amazing. The waitress and table service was great. Thorough efficient and thoughtful. It is odd to make a reservation for 7pm then sit for 20 minutes waiting for a table. Also the front desk couldn’t find my reservation and she was like “can you show me your reservation?” Leaving me feeling accused as opposed to taking on the error herself and saying something like “I’m sure we have your reservation could you share it with me to help me find it faster?” But that was it. It would also be helpful if you had a specific vegan menu. It’s not clear if the vegetarian options are truly vegetarian (no fish sauce or chicken broth etc.) Buddakan does a great job of this. Other that those items I was happy to see you busy packed and serving amazing food with great service. I will be back again and again

    Was very disappointed with our server, Kimberly. Made a sour face when we asked her to put the duck in front of the meat eaters, did not bring water till much later, and lastly: The Martini was too strong, it had too much alcohol in it. When we asked her to change it, she started patronising us on how Martinis have 3oz of alcohol, and how our tolerances change from day to day, and being passive aggressive because we didn’t like the drink. Not only is it inappropriate to talk back to a customer who has not done anything wrong, it is absurd to be treated this way at what is a very expensive restaurant. It ruined the great vibes in the restaurant and made it clear that we are unwelcome (because we don’t know what a Martini is, right?) We are not paying $100/head before drinks to be patronised on what a good Martini is. Just change the drink and don’t argue next time. Tao Downtown is way better. To Tao management: you should have a word with this employee, as issues like this could be costing you long term customers.

    Tao Tini and Lychee Martini blended well.. Rock Shrimp appetizer and Sashimi excellent choices and super fresh. Peking duck better than most Peking Duck House restaurants. Lobster in black bean sauce, yummy..

    The food was pretty good but not as amazing as it was hyped up to be for the price. It seemed like we got caught in the void of lunch and dinner shifts by going at 4:00 because the wait staff seemed to forget about us and I had to ask twice for a lychee martini (but it was delicious) and we saw people who arrived well after us get served well before. I had the wasabi steak and it was perfectly cooked but the seasoning was not that great. My daughters had rice dishes and thought they were great. The giant fortune cookie was fun and delicious.

    Everwas ok, except that the waiter took too long ro check on the table after we sitted, we want to order drinks and in one time we waited 15 minutes to order, than there was a gentleman with black suit with a mije like a secret service officer that came to our table in a not to a proffecional manners he nade kind of fun on us, we dislike his approach, but I'm used to that kind of treatment as I'm Black Latino.

    Tao Uptown should not take reservations past 9:00pm. We have been to the Downtown location, but we decided to try Uptown for a birthday celebration. Once we arrived at the restaurant we were seated and had our first server come to our table after 5-10 minutes. He had no expression, seemed irritated and asked what we wanted to drink. He brings our drinks slams them on the table and races off. We don’t see him for the rest of the night. To me this was promising. I thought we may have a chance to get a better more friendly server. I was wrong. The next server comes to our table about 10 minutes after we got our drinks. It’s 9:30 now, and she doesn’t say hello, doesn’t ask if we want to order another drink, doesn’t say anything other than, “Are you ready to order our kitchen closes at 10:00pm” (Keep in mind Open table let’s you make reservations until 9:45. We got there at 9 and did not have a server come take our order until 9:30.) A few minutes later we put in our order. The sever still seems irritated. We get our food around 10, eat and expect to have a dessert to celebrate the birthday. That apparently was not possible. She brings out 3 strawberries cut in half with a lit candle in one and says sorry our kitchen was closed. Still no smile, no personality, no sincerity. We pay and leave. I definitely will not be going back to that location and feel bad for anyone that has a 9:00pm or later reservation.

    Booked a reservation at 7p for 3 people, showed up 10 minutes prior & waited 40 minutes to be seated. The hostess explained that it was due to the upstairs being closed off for a private event. We decide to wait up at the bar and grab a drink prior to being seated- as we were placing orders with the bartender, my friend asked if they are able to make a Mocktail. The bartender flatly says “no” to which she laughed (because she thought he was kidding), and he responds “I said we don’t, pick another drink.” When I was closing out the tab so we could go to our table, I asked another bartender if we could grab the check, and he went over to get it, when the original bartender who made our drinks walked over to us. He had a check in hand, which I assumed might be ours, so I reached out thinking he was handing it to me. He snapped at me, saying “ASK to close out” then walked away. A couple seated on the end of the same table (shared) used their phone flashlight to look at the menu throughout the entire meal, which was blaring right in our eyes throughout the meal. Our waitress was really good- she made recommendations for food placement, & was attentive throughout the entire meal. And told us they DO make mocktails! The 2 star review is based off the terrible bartender experience, atmosphere & the food being mediocre in comparison to price. I know there are other locations of Tao and it shows in a negative light unfortunately, pumping out quantity instead of quality.

    It was my birthday celebration. So I didn’t like the long wait. Our reservations was at 8pm and we didn’t get seated until 9:03pm. So I wasn’t to happy about that. But once we got start. The server, the amazing outstanding food, the vibe, and the fantastic dessert I would give this restaurant a 12/10. We really enjoyed ourselves. Everything we ate was amazing. Thank you for a great experience. Can’t wait to come back.

    TERRIBLE! Had to squeeze into my seat..then they brought the entree before the apps. We complained and I watched them leave the food on a table…then five minutes later they brought the apps WITH the food including the sushi that had been sitting on the table. We complained to the server and the manager came over and “explained” why they do things that way. Unbelievable!! We asked the people next to us if all of their food was brought at the same time and they said no. How dare he try and tell us why we were wrong! Food was worse then the food I pay $2 for at my local chinese restaurant. They also brought the food right after my cocktail..no wait at all. It was like they were rushing us out…and seeing how bad the food and ambiance were…we were more than happy to leave.

    We absolutely loved our server. So kind, and a bright and welcoming presence about him. The spicy tuna on crispy rice was AMAZING and the dumplings were perfect. Sushi was incredible as well, especially the chefs roll. They brought a lovely dessert for our friends birthday. What a lovely experience.

    Food was amazing. Service was good except one thing I wish My waitress told me that what I ordered On the menu was 250 dollars it didn’t say that price on the menu.. I wish you guys could just let people know for future references. But everything was good and amazing scenery and music and DJ was very good.

    Friends in town for first NYC visit. Wanted to give them the Manhattan experience and TAO never fails. Our server was phenomenal. Great recommendations and just the right level of attention, thank you Batson!! Liche martinis never disappoint .

    I was expecting better customer service. They were inattentive and if I didn’t let them know I was ready to order my food I would have probably been there waiting all night. The food was delicious ambience was on point it was just the server and customer service that was poor.
