Crispy Orange Chicken
Peking Duck Spring Roll
with Hoisin Sauce
Loved the food and flavors of all dishes! However, be prepared to wait an hour to get a table even with a reservation!
Never good to have a 9 pm reservation and be seated at 10 pm so many better options in NYC
Great food, good service,
But super rude hosts at the door and a LONG wait even with a reservation.
Good, staff and ambience was amazing!!’nn
First time at TAO with my family and everyone loved the vibrant atmosphere, music and most of all the food. Wife and two adult daughters (23 & 24 plus boyfriend) thought it was fun and great experience.
The food here is amazing and caters for a variety of people depending on what type of Asian food you are in the mood for. The Lobster Wontons are my staple order everytime I am there as it is exceptional.
We were forced to wait half an hour past the reservation time despite arriving early. We were only seated after we stood by the Host Stand to make it clear that we either needed to be seated or leave because of a show we had to catch. When we were eventually seated, it was next to a middle school birthday party that was running around the restaurant. The food was average at best and overpriced. We had to flag down our server to order and pay in order to catch our show. The experience was abysmal and service was the worst I’ve seen at a restaurant in years.
Celebrated engagement. Awesome!
Robin and Amy were absolutely amazing!
Great music, wonderful upbeat atmosphere. This iconic New York restaurant is always fabulous.
It is important to start off by saying that I set my expectations very low in terms of food quality. I heard the vibe was great but the food was a hit or miss. I ordered the Peking Duck, fried rice and for appetizers we got the chicken lettuce cups and the lobster and shrimp spring rolls. Everything was good. You can also get this quality food for much less but you go here fore the vibe. The Peking duck was the best and I definitely enjoyed it! The service was impeccable. Quick and polite. There was a few moments that felt a little rushed but other than that it was great.
Un lugar excelente para comer. Muy ruidoso solamente.
service was lovely, we had many dietary restrictions and they worked really hard to accommodate us and help us with the menu.
The food was great. The services was terrible.
Food just didn't wow me for the price. Nice place, but I thought I would get top of the line asian food. Also, very few vegetarian or vegan options.
Great food and ambiance as always. TAO doesn’t disappoint.
I usually love Tao but have never been to this location. It is much smaller than all other locations and had the worst service ever. We were 1 minute late and they made us wait a whole hour to sit. Our reservation was at 9:45 and we were seated at 11:00 pm. That was the most ridiculous wait time ever and ruined all of our plans. You should never make your guests wait over 10 minutes especially when they are paying so much for the experience and HAVE A RESERVATION! Will never return to this location. Food is always good, service terrible, and ambience was alright.
Waited 45 minutes for our table even though we had a reservation but the food & drinks were amazing.
Stunning Restaurant. Great atmosphere. I’ll be there soon again!
Our visit didn’t start off well when our server did not return to take our order. Luckily, I asked about ordering and got sent Brendan instead. He saved the day. Very attentive and genuine in how he waited on us.
A great place to eat, really enjoyed my time there. A bit pricey but worth it, definitely would recommend and come back again
Nice place, food is good and staff is friendly my only comment is that the music is really loud and not related at all to the restaurant thematic, you can easily imagine that Buddha statue cry with that music choice... it feels more like being on a disco night but instead of dancing you are having dinner while trying to have a conversation but actually shouting to your friends at the table while hearing the table next to you screaming as well ( I was seated at the long bench where tables are 6" apart) Cool place though, pictures are deceiving but still really packed...poor Buddha having to put up with that music every night....
Awesome food, great atmosphere and the service was top notch!
Chilean Sea Bass is phenomenal and should be on your must have list! All the food was amazing but this was above it all. My friend, who was visiting from Alabama, exclaimed “this is the best thing I’ve ever eaten” and reiterated it the next day. The only negative for me is probably age related. The later it got, the louder it got (and the younger the clientele got) which made it harder for me to hear but besides this, the overall experience was fantastic.
Pad Thai was drenched in sugar and sushi didn’t taste fresh. Service was sub-par. Too bad because the ambiance and decor is awesome.
Maybe best for a drink and edamame.
Tao is such an awesome place to dine!! The Chilean Sea bass was to die for and the chocolate lava cake was a great top off to a wonderful evening! Really great service with good music and the atmosphere is wonderful! I will definitely be back next time I’m in NYC!!
Alive place with good food and nice ambiance. The music quality is average for the place and concept that represents. Overall great experience
ambience is perfect, people were so nice and attentive. must go place for asian fusion restaurant. chocolate fortune cookie is to die for.
Let me preface this review by saying we chose this restaurant because the menu had clear designations of items that could be ordered gluten free.
I have celiac and told our server very clearly. I ordered accordingly and again mentioned each item had to be gluten free. Our 2 appetizers were delivered by a runner that could not confirm if they were gluten free. Our server came over and said after looking at them that the first 2 items were. The main course came with crunchy onions on top which I assumed were NOT gluten free. Called the server over and asked her and her answer was “I put it in to be gluten free so it should be”. I showed her what I thought was the problem and now she said “couldn’t you just eat around them”. Of course, I can’t eat around them! She had to ask what to do and finally said they would remake the dish. The others in my party had already dished out small portions but didn’t take seconds. The dish was taken away from all and new clean plates were given to us. When the new dish arrived, she came over to say “don’t worry this one is on me”. Yes, 3 people ate probably 1 scoop from the original but did not at all finish it. We were charged for 1 main entree. At this point , I saw she did not take my gluten free needs seriously. I asked her about the other items I had eaten and she could not promise anything was gluten free. She the offered me a dessert on her but they had no gluten free options. That actually was funny! So now I’m home and spending time back and forth to the bathroom (sorry if that’s too graphic”.
So, word to the wise, if you have any special food requests...be a Karen and ask for a manager to take your order! A restaurant of this caliber should of taken my needs more seriously.
UPDATE: I was called by the manager to discuss my review and it was a very constructive conversation. I was assured that they take these issues very seriously and the staff would be retrained. I will try the restaurant again!
The Duck Spring Rolls were excellent.
Brilliant evening with the family at TAO . It’s a place our family loves going to .. for a good reason ..
The food is really good. However, there really should be a menu section with more vegan options...
Took a long time to be seated, but once we were it was worth it! Great place.
Not seated for over 30 min past reservation
Charged for a bottle of champagne instead of a glass
Initially sat in the corner with the waiter station and dirty dishes piled up - had to ask for a different table
Waiter never came back to refill waters or ask for additional drink orders. 2 different chicken dishes were awful - the woody chicken texture. Yuch. We won’t be back. Oh and no one said gee sorry for any of this!! Way too big for themselves. Too many great restaurants in NYC don’t waste the time and money.
The one thing i didn’t like was even though i had a reservation i wait to wait 45mins just to be seated because they over took guests. Also i said it was a birthday dinner but i had to remind them to do the special requests
Tao is one of my favorite restaurants... l love love the food... I have never sat upstairs before... I actually didn't like sitting upstairs and prefer to sit downstairs.
Amazing service to celebrate our anniversary
I was stressed out getting here on time because they don't have valet parking and all the lots nearby were full and we were going to hit our 15 min grace period and possibly lose our $50 deposit and our table. However, even though we were a few minutes late, they didn't say anything, and we only waited a few minutes after we checked in before being taken to our table. Service was quick. Food and ambience were excellent. I've eaten at TAO before the pandemic and the prices seem to be more than double what I remember paying. I'm not sure what the standard for "value" is any more.
