Drawing strong inspiration from TAO Downtown in New York, TAO Los Angeles is a dynamic two-level space, complete with four private dining rooms and a large bar. A grand staircase connects TAO’s ground and lower level seating, creating the ultimate platform to see and be seen. The custom staircase includes round banquettes and Chinese daybed-influenced sofas. As in New York, a 20-foot tall Quan Yin statue stands atop a koi pond; using 3D projection mapping technology, Rockwell Group’s LAB designed subtle animations bring this signature statue to life. The menu, developed by Chef/Partner Ralph Scamardella, feature a diverse selection of Asian-inspired specialties, focusing on Chinese, Japanese and Thai techniques and ingredients.

Went for my birthday celebration. The food was AMAZING! Drinks were yummy, and the DJ was the best touch for my grown and classy affair! (LOL)

The only bad part was the waitress who took the cash and applied it to her as her tip, which was apart of the total bill as we had 5 people paying. That rubbed the group the wrong way as it felt as if she was pocketing the money after she over charged everyone's card. After we cleared this matter up with her all was well and we still tipped her generously, it is just the principle.

I recommend TAO LA to everyone who wants a cool swanky ambiance with great food, and cool vibes. I will definitely be back again!

Very attractive restaurant. Excellent service from initial greeting at hostess stand throughout the complete meal. Our party of 4 tried a couple of appetizers, some small plates as well as a couple of entrees. Very nice drink list with their own unique cocktails. We started with the tuna poke and lobster and shrimp egg rolls that had a great taste. Proceeded to small plates such as the short ribs and sea bass skewers. Had the Thai sweet and spicy shrimp that had a nice tangy flavor.

We stopped here for dinner before going to the Pantages for the show. Had 6:00 reservations as that is when they open. Able to have a nice leisurely dinner before the short walk to the theater. We had let our server know of our plans for the show and they kept the flow of dishes in a good timely manner without stacking one dish on top of another.

Thank you for an excellent dinner.

This was my first visit to Tao- Hollywood and was excited to visit this location as I’ve been to the other locations. However I was highly disappointed with the hostess when we checked in. She already had an attitude setting the mood for the rest of the evening. I have never experienced anything like this before with a hostess at a restaurant. The food was great and our waiter was very helpful with the selection of our meal. The ambiance was great, similar to Tao-Chicago. With the exception of the rude hostess the experience was a 2 thumbs up instead of 3. The restaurant should know having a host/hostess at the front are the people who greet customers first making the first impression. With a rude host/hostess at the front can really dissatisfy the experience.

I have been to three of the four Ta restaurants. I have to say, the front desk person on Wednesday, March 13th (wearing a red dress or red clothing - tall and pale) could use some training on how to greet and be cordial to guest. She was abrupt, condensing, and not personable at all. Just based on that, I would never come back. This is not the only restaurant in LA with this type of ambiance - PLEASE! I work in a service industry and have over 50 direct reports, if any of them acted like this I would fire them. Food was okay, but the server, Lou I think was amazing. The front of the house definitely needs some help! Just an okay experience - probably will not be coming back.

A great place! nice ambiance and our server was really good. If you go there, you have to remember to take cash to tip the Valet, or you will be looking for ages to find somewhere to park.

Don't forget to take flowers for your lady or partner... (I forgot and boy did I pay for that)
Remember this is a special high end place, so be prepared for high end prices. If you go with that in mind, you will not be disappointed and your date will love you forever.

Bathrooms are noted by Ying and Yang symbols, so please educate yourself to avoid embarrassing situations. There is also a bathroom valet too.

I had a great evening! must admit that because most of the seats aim toward a stage area, I kept hoping to see a show.

My boyfriend and I visited LA because we bought tickets to a Pantages show. I made reservations for us to eat at TAO since I've never been and I've heard great things about the ambiance. I'm sincerely disappointed with this restaurant. If you're paying for the ambiance then I guess... but the price did not match the food quality or the service. Initially things started off great with the staff greeting us with welcomes and smiles. We were impressed by the beautiful restaurant design, good music, and the guests around us who seemed to be having a good time. The server who took down our drinks and our order was very nice! I believe his name was Nick, I'm not sure, but he was great and went out of his way to go through the menu. He told us that he wasn't actually our server and this other white/blonde woman would be our server for the night. I get that the restaurant was busy but after greeting us once, she did not come check on us at any other point. In fact she wasn't anywhere around and we had to try to get another servers attention to get the check. It was hard to even do that because the waiters were walking by super fast and were focused on serving their own tables. Our bill was $68 so my boyfriend put $80 cash in the check folder, and held $10 cash to hand directly to her for a tip. She honestly didn't deserve anything because she literally did not serve us at all or treat us well, but I strongly believe in tipping. After receiving the check book back, my boyfriend looked inside to get his change and she only gave him $2 back. We're not the type to make a fuss about things and we're always polite, saying please and thank you. So for her to be so rude when we told her we didn't get the correct change, and rudely taking $10 out of her pocket, putting it on the table and walking away with an attitude, was such a turn off. I've never been treated like that at a restaurant. Service at cheaper restaurants has made me feel like they value my dollar. Very disappointing

Dramatic (and sacrilegious) room. Good food. But a bit of a “scene”. It is busy but certainly not exclusive. The element that signaled this was the sparkler desserts for birthday celebrants. Four tables received these treats within 16 minutes of each other, I was only grateful the staff didn’t sing and clap their hands. Still we left feeling it was a bit “TaoGI-Friday’s.

We were on our anniversary date and the waiter we had was just a clown of a waiter. Every time we would order a dish he would get annoyed of us. Eventually, without asking he took away our menu and didn’t even allow us to order anything else. At the end of our dinner he realized it was our anniversary and brought us over a cut up strawberry with a candle on it. Not worth my time and definitely not a memorable experience for us.

I booked a reservation 03-05-2019 @6pm through open table and made a special request since its my wife's birthday then 1st the front desk forgot the special request I have to go there and informed them that I made a special request, so that's disappointing. 2nd I expect the waitress to surprise my wife in the end with the dessert with a candle that I was advised from the front desk but never applied for my wife. But not just that they're supposed to give the dessert with candle on it. And they already brought the dessert with no candle or that special candle for her birthday. I have to literally find my waitress to let her know the situation she was super busy and we have to wait for good 38 min for her to come back on our table which is super annoying. And just gives us a smile??? Really they should do a complimentary dessert for the inconvenience come on you guys run a 4 star restaurant in Hollywood and you can't do anything for customers. Then I guess it's not about CUSTOMER SERVICE here is all about if that's the scenario. Totally UPSET just because she never paid attention to us just because she was sooooooobusy and forgot out special request and so unfortunate to bring my family here that it's their first time.

We were a party of 6 on a Monday night.Service was great. Food was good, a bit overpriced for portions. Bartender was the Best!!
As far as crowd.....They should be more selective on dress code and not allow half naked guests in. It felt like we were at at a club in Vegas.
