My husband and I really enjoyed our dinner at Tao! We came to celebrate his birthday and also because it’s Restaurant Week. The food was great and so was the service.
Fabulous! Best place in town!
It was my birthday and i had a lovely table in a prime spot in the restaurant that I really loved. This was the first time at Tao for some of my friends and they all enjoyed it so much. The food was delicious and the atmosphere absolutely marvelous! Will be coming back for sure!
Every teenager in NYC had their party at Tao tonight. Unfortunately this was my first experience at Tao and even the hosts at the host stand admitted the number of teenage birthday parties was obscene this evening. Our server was great and the food was good, albeit a bit under seasoned, but the atmosphere was spoiled by an outrageous number of kids/teenagers. Tonight, Tao was an upscale Chuckie Cheese and it was unfortunate.
Celebrated my birthday and had a great time! The table, food, drinks and service was excellent.
the restaurant was amazing! it was was very busy and I would recommend to anyone looking for a great time.
Food and ambiance were amazing! I do feel like service wasn't as great due to how busy they were but it wasn't bad, just not amazing. It was also a bit loud but it was expected from such a large and packed restaurant.
Food was bad for restaurant week. Very disappointed
Food was great . Service was great but we felt rushed to leave the restaurant by our waiter because it was a busy night.
I had a reservation at 10:15om and got my table at 11:00pm. The waitress was being nasty to us and had a lot of attitude. We also wanted to order desert and she said that the kitchen was closed, trying to leave us halfway without telling us earlier that the kitchen was “closed”. We asked and of course, it wasn’t closed!! We ended up having desert, but overall, the service was HORRIBLE‼️
Incredible! Love the vibe
This was an anniversary occassion. Very Poor service. Was told the wait for a table would be 40 min yet it was a whole hour wait. After getting the table we had to wait another hour for food. The worst restaurant service i have ever had.
Like always superb . Very good food............,,,,,
Enjoying NY's restaurant week.. over all very good. My pad thai was very low on salt. On previous ocations was excellent.
I expected great food and got mediocre food
Not great value for money!
Excellent Customer service. Great place! As for food there were so many options I had a hard time picking. The food was delicious.
Lovely diner tonight ❤️
One of our favourite spots to visit whenever we are in New York. Excellent food. Excellent service. Always a fun night.
Over-the-top ambience and very good food. Buddhas plus dim sum and sumptuous quarters.
Todo súper bien fue mi cumpleaños ...
Let me begin by saying the food is always amazing at Tao as is the ambiance. I’ve never had a dish I didn’t didn’t enjoy and I always love the crowd/music! The quality and presentation of the plates are always excellent too. With that said your dining experience has a lot to with your server, who in our case, left a lot to be desired. He lacked personality and enthusiasm, which does not match the vibe at Tao. Lastly, we sat in an elevated table which was beautiful since we could see the entire restaurant, but it felt like we were in a sauna. We asked to have the heat turned down and it seemed they tried to accommodate the request but on several occasions we had to excuse ourselves to get some cool fresh air. Either way I’ll keep going to Tao for the food and the fun vibe! I always leave full and excited to return.
Fantastic! Sweet 16 party for 7 and it was perfect. Food was great. Atmosphere can’t be beat. Not cheap by any means but it’s worth it. Don’t regret the $500 tab for a minute. Memorable and will go back for another special night out. Not many restaurants can pull this off.
Went for my 21st birthday! Was amazing, as expected! Food, service everything, incredible!
This place is firing on all cylinders...from the food to the decor, the pours, the venue, the vibe, etc. all come together to make this place a must go.
Great ambience, awesome decore, pricey food, not over the top taste, nice drinks.
It takes time to be seated. The order came so late and we took some food to be eating at home.
Not a cozy place for dinner, very busy and loud. The food was delicious especially the lobster wontons and grilled ahi tuna. Cocktails were very balanced. Would come back with a larger group.
Excellent birthday dinner at Tao! I highly recommend the 5pm time slot as you get to take photos, explore the area, and watch the place fill up. Plus second dinner! The staff helped me plan a fun birthday surprise with dessert, made a great drink recommendation, and my friend loved her special night out. The vegetable sides and dumplings were delicious, but the chow fun lacked flavor and tofu. I felt like the price was on the high side for the food offered, but would definitely return.
We love Tao both uptown and downtown. We were there on Saturday for a double birthday party and due to the weather we were a little bit later than expected and I thought that the restaurant downtown was extremely accommodating to our family of eight. As always the food was truly extraordinary and we just love the atmosphere. The only issue is that the dishes came out so fast that we hadn’t even finished one before the next one came so it started to feel as if we were being rushed and it was not a very comfortable feeling. We had to send our fish back because it was cold and one of the members did not even get to eat the soup when the main dish came out. The Fortune Cookie had a fortune that said “we’re waiting for the table”. Although we are a group of people with excellent funny bones we found that rude. We were not there longer than would be expected. This is an expensive restaurant and the expectation is for a bit more grace and curtesy. I would just love it if they would be a little bit mindful of their guests. We were at the same restaurant last week and did not have this experience. It was perfect then. Therefore there’s no question that we will return and try again.
Didn’t seat us until 55 minutes after our reservation time
Excellent all the way around!
Had a great time the waitress was a little too serious
Was greeted with great and positive energy. From food to service, everything was great. TAO made my friends and I’s NY experience quite better. Looking forward for later this year to eat there again! I would say to try the “Filet mignon "tokyo" style”!! 😋
Excellent Service, great atmosphere, the drinks ere on point and the food was amazing.
