TAO Downtown

I had a wonderful time! The outdoor setup was beautiful! It’s very unique and I was warm inside. The food and the drinks were great! I’ve always liked this restaurant, both locations uptown and downtown. We will definitely be back!

Great food & service as always. There was an adequate amount of social distancing. For anyone worried about going back to indoor dining, this is a great place to start!

It was ok. Food was alright, pretty overrated. Service was kinda stupid. Got there at our reservation time and told us they need the table back 1hr and 15 min later so they rushed us to order even though the person looking for parking was not at the table yet. Every time we asked for our waitress to order more they would say ok and no one would come over, not really gonna make money like that. We stayed well over our 1hr and 15min time limit so it was pretty pointless to rush us and tell us from the start. Overall it’s a whatever spot.

Tao is so awesome. The decor, food and service are all outstanding. It’s great to bring people there who’ve never been as it’s got such a wow factor.

The food was out of this world, as always. We did the restaurant week so it was a good deal too. Also the lychee martini is to die for. And the tables were very so waved out and far away, I felt comfortable dining inside.

I love tao. First time since covid so I’m sure they have some things to work out. Food wasn’t as good. I will be back though - I’m sure they just need time.

Had to pay 300$ up front to wait two hours to get seated after making reservations! Very unacceptable! Was so hungry and upset to wait those 2 hours !

Valentines day

Valentine’s Day dinner was awesome. We had requested to be by the staircase since we had been here before I couldn’t recommend the middle it was really uncomfortable felt like I was slouching to eat the whole time. The Tao-tini was delicious as well as the bread pudding donuts. The wait outside the restaurant was disastrous we had 8:15 reservations arrived by 8:05 they were doing 15 calls so we couldn’t go inside till 8:30 & had to wait outside the whole time in the freezing cold while it drizzled. Other than that it was a good time and our waiter was great as well over all great service.

Loved the food and the ambience. The service was good too. We went there to celebrate Valentine’s Day. They made us wait for 20-25 minutes for a paid reservation which was odd, but since it was the second day post indoor dining opening, I give them a benefit of doubt.

It was a great experience. You must try the carrot cake.

Valentine’s Day 2021 they were atleast 2 hours behind on every reservation. People were waiting in the freezing cold hours after their reservation time. Guard at the door was extremely rude and offered no ease to the situation.

I didn’t like the area we were seated but our server was awesome!

HORRIBLE experience, from start to finish it was bad. First upon arrival there was NO social distancing @ all everyone was jammed packed. Then when we checked in 7:11 for our 7:15 reservation we were told we will be text when table was ready. We had to ask numerous times for update, we were then seated @ 8:20 and did t even receive an apology or anything in sincere for the delay. Idk how this occurred when 1st they could only fill the restaurant @ 25% and everyone had reservations. We received no comp for the delay instead we received horrible service. Our waiter pretty much ignored us all night, food took forever to get to us though people seating around us being served by the same waiter seem to be getting their orders quickly. We then ordered dessert in which we had to cancel since the table was only reserved for 90 mins. We had ordered @ 8:40 for the dessert and like I said those around us that ordered around the same time as us were receiving there’s now it was 9:20 and was upset! And canceled the order and opted for the check instead. We truly did not enjoy our event ended up frustrated and upset. I expected better especially being that it was 1st day of opening after winch a long time, the restaurant should have been better prepared. We felt like our money was no good there a d that is no way to be treated.

The only thing that i didn't like is the 2 nasty security guards that they have there one in the entrance and the other one inside the Restaurant . They are very rude and have no manners . The one in the front entrance was screaming at me just because i went to get 2 people from my party that were outside the restaurant. He screamed at me really loud in front of all those people that were outside and made me go inside to tell the hostess to call him so he can let them in.

The place, food and drinks are so GOOD, everything is perfect, however even when we had a reservation we had to wait 1 hour for a table! That was the only thing that I dislike.

My dinner went well, it wasn’t that crowed as usually at Tao, but the service wasn’t that good. I felt like the restaurant doesn’t have enough waiters, I was waiting for the ice basket for champagne for 25 minutes, the second time I asked the waiter, he brought it. The food was awesome as always!!!

One of favorite restaurants in Manhattan. Décor is beautiful, service excellent, food very good but little pricey.

My fiance and I had a great time here. The staff is very professional and attentive. The check-in process was very smooth and the wait staff was on point. We've been to TAO Midtown maybe 4 Valentines ago and we enjoyed that experience, so we expected nothing less at TAO Downtown and they delivered. As for recommending to a friend. Most definitely! and we'll see you again soon.

Valentines Day was amazing here. My wife loved it!

Went to TAO for Valentine's. We got there, the security person told us we had to wait in line (I had never seen a line like that for a restaurant when we had reservations). We waited in the cold, just to find out later we didn't need to stay in line as we were reserved for outdoor seating. We then walked to the other place that was seating outdoors and finally got our table - the worst one available even though the outdoor patio was empty. Food was great as always, but wish I had chosen another place to take my Valentine.

The food was incredible and the ambiance and staff were great.

From beginning to end our waiter was graceful, efficient , friendly.. he took good care of us..the only thing I would mention is our food came prior to us finishing our appetizers so we probably could’ve used another 10 minutes prior to them bringing out the main course.. other than that it was perfect.

Outstanding meal.

Put as at a table that was essentially a bench on the stairs and as a couple who both have back problems, definitely wasn’t the best seating . Chef’s roll was good , pad Thai not super good but server was super nice and accommodating and promptly switched out for pork fried rice which was good .

Went to Tao for a friends birthday dinner and overall experience was great. Our server was very nice and efficient. All of our food and drinks arrived very fast. I had the mango chili martini and it was an amazing cocktail. We shared plates for dinner, everything was really good and served fast and hot. The ambience is great as well, they played good music but not so loud that you couldn’t easily hear each other. Beautiful restaurant and spaced out well for social distancing.

Everything was perfect and waitress was very attentive. But the security guards where horribly rude. To a point we felt kick out in a very bad manner. Just because we wanted to take a picture at the end. Very disrespectful the way we were kick out.

Beautiful restaurant. Very understanding to my issues because I was late for my reservation. Love it and I will definitely return
