We went for Miami spice lunch but then decided to order off the menu and share.
Nowhere on the menu nor next to each item does it mention if its fried or not.We do not like fried food.
We had the Wagu tacos, I thought it would be tiny pieces of Wagu not chopped up burger meat , that was disappointing. The taco itself was fried .The meat was not that tasty.
We ordered a cooked salmon roll which also came fried on the outside unfortunately. It had cream cheese
and some other fillings, the flavor was really good.
Our final dish was duck dumplings. It was again minced filling and there was no flavor of duck.It could have been whatever filling for all I know.Disappointing!
The decor is fun, daggers hanging on the walls. The waiter was extremely attentive.
Service was the worst I have had in a restaurant despite it was 50% empty. Called the manager and complained strongly.
Service has been deteriorating in the last few times we ate at Tanuki.
We are considering not coming back.
The food was amazing. Its a beautiful place for dating.
This place was wonderful. I wish I could remember our servers name because he was perfect. He didn’t hover over us but was available when we needed him. The food was amazing. We choice off their Miami Soice menu, and had simple bento boxes but everything in them was wonderful on its own and paired with the other foods. I had a ribeye/nigiri bento and the ribeye was perfectly cooked with so much flavor. And my boyfriend had spicy chicken/shashimi and it was the right amount of spice that didn’t kill the flavor but still had a kick. The fried rice had hints of wasabi as did the cauliflower. It was an overall great place for a dinner.
Very good place
The best restaurant in Miami right now. Everything was delicious. The torched salmon roll and green tea fondant were exceptional! Definitely need to try this place. I’m coming back soon.
Was here in 2016 already. I’m from Germany. Went there to celebrate the birthday of my best friend. Love this place! Also the collaboration with the hookah brand!
Excellent experience all around. We ordered the shishito peppers, pork belly buns, and 3 sushi rolls. I would recommend them all. Server took great care of us and answered all our questions patiently. They even gave us some delicious mochi for the bday at the table.
Amazing food and great atmosphere. Definitely a must in Miami Beach
First time back since moving from Miami in 2017. Since I was hanging with a friend and I had to choose a restaurant, this was my first thought!! The food is still as delicious as when I first dined there when it originally opened. The service is spot on!! Tanuki never disappoints.
Food in general is fantastic, one of the best sushi and sashimi in Miami.
Tanuki is one of our favorite places to eat. The service is excellent and the food, especially when you go with the server's advice, is outstanding. Will always go back.
It was an amazing experience and the food was outstanding . Welcoming us with a cocktail of choice to unlimited mimosas then followed by some dim sum which was mouth watering . The dim sum was made individually with fresh ingredients, I’m chinese and never had I ate a chicken sui Mai with truffle ! It was mind blowing . We were there for fathers days and felt it was definitely worth a drive through the pouring rain of lovely Miami.
Some of the menu items were to die for, but some (like warm mushroom salad ) below average. The restaurant was out of many items. Service was pretty good, fish was fresh.
They didn’t have half items from the menu, server was rushing us to order cocktails and food. And then all the time we ordered something, he would tell us they out of that item or he would have to check with the kitchen.
Arrogant manager was walking around like he was extremely busy.., while it was 2 tables occupied at the restaurant. And him and the hostess definitely didn’t have time to say goodbye when we were leaving, while they were chatting by the exit door.
The Happy Hour prices were excellent and we didn't like there was a manipulation of size or quality in order to make the lower prices happen. We will definitely be back when in the FL area again.
Best sushi in dade
A local favorite. Fresh, delicious sushi and inventive Japanese and Asian cuisine. Live in the neighborhood and I’m a regular. Love the Happy Hour.
Food is exceptional! Large variety of excellent options, but don’t miss uni rice cracker (outstanding)!
Tried the Toro roll: excellent! Takuwan (pickled ...(tastes like the stuff in tsukemono), shiso leaf and of course toro. Great!
Hi Joe3, Thank you for the great review and being a loyal customer. We truly appreciate you. See you soon...
Abbinamenti interessanti, qualità ottima, servizio preciso e veloce.
As usual great place
The restaurant automatically adds a 18%tip to the bill AFTER tax so a 20% tip- beware!
Inventive, creative, delicious! Great service, too!
I absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an interesting menu and a great funky ambiance.
Food is so so so delicious and they have so many options so anybody can eat there.
Loved the food! our server was very nice and tentative to our needs.
Just great food....& seriously good recommendations by the Maitre'D.
We are weekly regulars here, but until yesterday hadn’t realized it is on OT (live around the corner). Dumplings are superb here. Modern style sashimi on a par with Naiyara and Nobu. Great atmosphere and friendly people.
Thank you for the awesome review Joe3!!! We truly appreciate your support. See you soon....
Best sushi in town without the ridiculous prices.
We were in south beach for the weekend and wanted to get away from the fishbowl drinks and repeat restaurants on ocean ave. Tanuki was perfect- great food, service and drinks... and less expensive too!
Extraordinary fine dim sum. Much more then classic one. Fine taste and nice to see.
Above average food for that price point, and staff very friendly and professional - we went early so don’t know how it is when it’s crowded. Dumplings home-made and tasty. nice looking place overall
Thank you for the great review. See you soon...
Casual neighborhood joint with creative menu. Not crazy Sobe expensive. Great wagyu tacos, tanuki burger, cashew chicken (some of our go-tos). Great waiter from Serbia explained some new menu items and was attentive yet not interrupting.
Hi Roberto, Thank you for the amazing review! We're happy you had a great time. See you soon....
First night out in south beach with an old friend. We came in at 8:30, and the restaurant was moderately busy. The service was friendly and fast. The food was excellent. It was a little bit pricier than I would usually do, but it was worth it.
First time there...great sushi!!! Service was awesome! We will definitely be back. Thanks!!!
One the the best sushi spots in miami
My bird glass drink was super cute and good and my samurai steak and Dumplings were awesome. I really enjoyed. And Decore is super cute.
Tanuki has some of the best sushi in Miami, the staff was very accommodating for a large party.
Great lunch spot for dim sum and although it was quiet we enjoyed the food and ambience. The swords on the wall are a little scary though!
