Tanuki Ratings and Reviews
I love the food there. I visit once a month for the most part. This last time the service was lacking. Perhaps a waiter was missing or didn’t show up to work. The restaurant wasn’t that busy though so I found it surprising that I had to repeatedly ask for my drink. Hopefully it is an isolated experience as all other times I have been I have fully enjoyed.
Lots to like about this restaurant. Great food, selection, decor. But service is a double edged sword. Lots of staff but their goal seems to be to get you out of there as soon as possible. Appetizer and soup came out together. Meal came while we were still having our soup. The second we ate our last bite the table was cleared and bill given. Very rushed which unfortunately put a damper on an otherwise excellent meal. Especially liked the Black Dragon Roll, Beef Dim Sum and Miso Soup.
it took HOURS to get our food, which should have been comp'd, and wasn't. One of our diners even went to the apple store to get her phone fixed, and returned one hour later before her meal even made it to the table. Really, too bad because the food was good once it arrived, but a 2 hour meal turned into 4 hours. Not good for a business dinner.
Sushi was too complicated. I'm sure the chef is highly rated but not sure if chefs in these high-end Asian restaurants are trying to out-do other chefs, but if everyone can go back to the basics of what makes them great chefs, I believe the food will be extraordinary. Staff was busy and at times seemed confused with orders.
My fiancé and I went there for our anniversary. I made a special request through the reservation to have 2 glasses of champagne ready in chilled glasses to toast as we got there. They met the request, and it was all perfection from there. The food was amazing, so good we could not fit dessert. I had hands down the best yakisoba I had ever tried so far. Drinks were also good with great presentation. We are foodies and we have been to the best restaurants in Miami, but this took the lead as the best overall experience.
