Tanta has two Chef’s Tables that each seat up to 10 people. These tables are located in our main dining room in between our open kitchen and cebiche bar which allows you and your guests to experience our chefs creating Peruvian cuisine while you dine.
The menu, created by Acurio and Tanta Chicago Chef Giancarlo Valera, takes diners on a voyage through Peru via its food. From the Pacific Ocean, through the Andes, to the desert, to the Amazon, Tanta celebrates the diverse landscape and ethnicities that make up Peru’s culture.

This place was suggested to me by a friend and we will definitely be back. It was perfect for a date night and the food and drinks were amazing!! The staff were very attentive and the entire vibe was just a great one to be out and about.
We were a group of 4 visiting Chicago. Each of us had a different meal so we were able to taste different dishes. All of us were amazed, because the food was absolutely amazing, the flavors were so delicious. Probably the best restaurant I've ever been to!
Honestly some of the best food I’ve had in a long time. The flavors were so well executed and so unique. The octopus (a notoriously tricky meat to cook) was not only flavorful but cooked to perfection with excellent accompaniments. The drinks were STRONG and made for a fun evening. I would recommend getting a pisco sour to get into the mood of the restaurant. It is like a creamy margarita.
The tuna in the tiradito nikkei was not good. I expected it to be amazing, given that the food in tanta peru is great. However, this was not even a 5/10.
I got to say that the pollo saltado and pisco sours were great!

Love the variety of dishes, although the layout of the menu seems a little confusing. The scallops were really tasty and beautifully presented, but they were in the menu alongside much bigger dishes.

Food was delicious and authentic. It took my wife and I back to the 2 months we backpacked through Peru albeit a bit more refined. Beautiful setting, great drinks, top notch food.
Great ambiance and very cozy for the brisk April Weather. The bus boy was AMAZING we were on the rooftop and I did not run out of water when he was at our table refilling or kept asking what else was needed. We did have an issue with one of our plates of food taking too long, but everyone apologized and they did make amends. The food was great and the attentive bus boy made the small inconvenience better.

While service was brisk and attentive, the server had zero clue about vegan options or adjustments. Maybe he was new? But we had chosen this restaurant based on being vegan friendly. Really only one or two options that we could discern. Friendly staff and the Covid precautions were done well.
Went for dinner on a Friday, tried the cebiche classico and the chafa aeropuerto. Both dishes were delicious and well presented. Tried the pisco sour and the la rusa, both drinks had different taste profiles and were very good in their own right.
We loved our meal at Tanta!

Pasamos una tarde muy agradable en Tanta.La atención de primera,así como la comida y cocktails.El Pisco Sour en particular estuvo delicioso.Lo único penoso fue no poder disfrutar de una cerveza Peruana o de otra variedad que no fuese IPA para acompañar nuestros ceviches pero entiendo que es debido a la pandemia.Definitivamente como Peruana lo recomiendo al 100% y regresaremos sin dudarlo cuando volvamos a visitar Chicago.Gracias Tanta!!
Service was great but I felt so rushed. Server was in a hurry to get my order and and get me out of there. Prices are ridiculously high.

Location was clean, food looked and tasted really good. The music playing didn’t match the setting and the hostess must have forgot me mentioning we wanted something for the birthday girl. We stopped in the bathroom after paying and before walking out the building, we were met with a small drink at the bar instead. Wish it was a little more thought out but overall good experience.
Really good food and portion size is huge for small eaters. Given that we ordered starters, maybe we could have shared the main course.

We went for a date night, the portions, the ambiance, the staff was all wonderful. We are planning on going back to enjoy their rooftop dining.

We went for Restaurant Week, and it was also happy hour. We each had an ok pisco sour, then a happy hour drink and appetizer. The three course meal was quite nice too, the braised ribs were so tender. Later, had a glass of ok Malbec. Definitely a good deal!
