Tanta has two Chef’s Tables that each seat up to 10 people. These tables are located in our main dining room in between our open kitchen and cebiche bar which allows you and your guests to experience our chefs creating Peruvian cuisine while you dine.
The menu, created by Acurio and Tanta Chicago Chef Jesus Delgado, takes diners on a voyage through Peru via its food. From the Pacific Ocean, through the Andes, to the desert, to the Amazon, Tanta celebrates the diverse landscape and ethnicities that make up Peru’s culture.

High-end Peruvian food that will cost you a bit but is worth the price.
Great Peruvian food
Everything was amazing besides the horrible service. Waiter neglected us from the beginning and had to ask the hard working bus boys on 3 separate occasions to get our waiter, including when we first sat down we waited for 15 minutes to introduce himself.
Really delicious and creative Peruvian cuisine. Amazing, complex flavors. Would happily eat here again... and again.
The best grilled octopus and lomo saltado ever! Cauliflower was great too, as were the desserts! Ceviche was a little disappointing, but overall great food and drinks. Service was terrific too.
Service was horrible from the minute we stepped through the door. Hostess could see we requested a rooftop table; but couldn’t see if any were available and told us we needed to go upstairs to ask the other hostess. Despite 3 open tables and the fact that they “don’t take rooftop reservations” we were told it was a 45 min wait. After being seated it took almost 20 minutes before a server approached us to take a drink order. Things were ok after that, but so many great places in Chicago we would be hard pressed to go back.
Amazing and delicious place! So happy we got reservations for dinner here. We had an amazing time and tastes some delicious food. Everything we ordered was out of this world, particularly ceviche - AAAAMMAAAAZING!
The food was delicious! Service was friendly and quick and the restaurant itself it beautiful and fun. Would definitely recommend!
Never written a review but feel like Tanta deserves it. Loved this restaurant. Atmosphere was perfect. A mix of people. You would be comfortable in a suit or dressing casual. The food was out of this world. Highly recommend!!!!!
What a wonderful meal. Service and food are ver good. Tank you ver much for everything
Absolutely delicious food. Be careful how much you order we ordered way too much and our server said we’d be fine but it was too much. Quite loud ( we were there at 7pm) so if you’re looking to have a conversation without somewhat shouting wouldn’t recommend. Great cocktails and very authentic flavors.
Have been meaning to go here for a while and it was definitely worth it! So yummy.
I heard about this place from a friend and made a reservation for an anniversary dinner. Not only was the seafood phenomenal, but the restaurant honored a special request for a surprise desert/anniversary message at the end of our meal. This was a wonderful experience! Thank you to everyone who helped make our day special!
Came on a Saturday night. Food was great, but service was pretty disappointing. Generally inattentive and difficult to get our drinks refreshed. One server described the menu as tapas style, another described it as appetizers + entrees. Portions were definitely consistent with the latter: entrees were too big for one. We would have been fine with 2 "appetizers" + 1 "entree" for the two of us. Pork fried rice was awesome (and enormous), so was the El Chingon cocktail.
The space is great, but they aren't using it as well as they could--seating needs to be reconfigured. Tables are too big and the entire space over by the kitchen is really unpleasant from all the traffic and the bright lights. They should get rid of the booths sticking out of the wall opposite the bar and replace with a bench along the wall.
We had a group of twelve. The restaurant accommodated our needs and a good time was had by all. Food choices ample and interesting. Service very good. Actual food was exceptional. Ambiance was good. Highly recommend.
We have eaten at Gaston Acurio's restaurant in Lima and loved it. We have Peruvian relatives and thought it would be the perfect spot for a birthday dinner. It was good but not great. The waiter was very friendly but unable to explain the menu in a way that facilitated a smooth and enjoyable meal. He was personable but not knowledgeable. This was my second time at Tanta and I would go back but I will also refrain from recommending it just because it has lost its edge. It should be the type of place that every bite is amazing and it was just good.
Tanta was great overall, everything was done well including meat and seafood. Highly recommend the Japanese style sashimi!
Tanta has just become our favorite chicago restaurant! with some sizable portions of incredibly delicious food, we left with full bellies and some to enjoy later. Everything we tried was SO delicious. Will be back and absolutely recommend!
Food is delicious a little pricey. Great rooftop and setting for dinner with friends or a date
My friend and I chose Tanta to catch up and were pleasantly surprised! The food was so flavorful. Our waiter asked if either of us had dined with them before and when we told him no, he throughly explained the menu to us with such enthusiasm. My friend and I tasted each other's dinner choices and were pleased with the choice the other made. I've never eaten at a restaurant and wished there was enough left over to take home. Tanta has some daring items on their menu that I would like to try when I go back. You won't be disappointed if you choose Tanta. They also have a rooftop that we plan to go back and experience.
Superb. Lovely combination of freshness, flavour and presentation combined with delightful service made for a wonderful dining experience
The team was very accommodating when we booked a 2:30 reservation - exactly when they close for lunch and switch gears for dinner service. The kitchen stayed open for us and got our food out very fast - thank you Chef for pushing that out with your team.
The waitress and GM were great with serving our needs. They didn’t need to bring us alfajores out for a birthday treat - so nice of them.
Great and delicious peruvian food. Authentic, and very tasty.
We didn’t know what to order and we asked the waitress to pick some things for us and she picked 5 great things for us to share ! Loved the fried rice !!
I loved my experience at Tanta. We sat on the rooftop, which was delightful. The food was delicious and unique, and the cocktail I had was amazing. The thing I appreciated the most, though, was our server. When he greeted us, he asked if we had any allergies. When I told him I was allergic to nuts, he pointed out exactly which menu items I should avoid. It seems like such an obvious thing to do, but servers almost never ask that question. It really put me at ease knowing that they take allergies seriously enough to ask right away, and it was refreshing that the server knew the menu well enough to point out which plates were safe. Thank you, Tanta!
Peru Independence Day! (A day early)
The food was absolutely delicious and the ambiance was wonderful. We started with the cebiche clasico which was very refreshing. I got a fried seafood dish and my fiance got the steak stir fry dish - each very delicious and filling. We took a lot of leftovers home.
Great cocktails, food and ambiance - Highly recommended
Very interesting great food and cocktails and terrific service.
The food was amazing, delicious drinks. The restaurant was exceptional along with the hosts and servers.
We went there for my wife's birthday, and since she is Peruvian, and so is this food (one of Gastón Acurio's extremely amazing restaurants) it was just perfect. And it was so cool to eat many Peruvian specialty dishes, with the twist that the main chef, Jesus Delgado, has infused into them, and you end up with a truly unique dining experience! We tried so many dishes, but among them was the Anticucho de Corazon; Pulpo; Causa Clasica, Cebiche Clasico; Conchitas a la Parmensana; Beef Short Ribs; etc. We practically had to "roll" out of there! :>)) I'd highly, highly recommend the food. If you know exceptional Peruvian food, you will still be surprised by the Chef's variations, and if you don't know Peruvian food, then you owe it to yourself to be treated to some really unique and varied tastes.
Tanta is now my favorite restaurant in Chicago! You will not be disappointed!
Really interesting fusion of Asian, Latin, and seafood. The ceviches were creative and tasty. Great place to share plates and try new things. Excellent cocktails!
What a delicious way to celebrate a special occasion or an every day meal. We were there for my birthday. Our waiter made several excellent food and drink suggestions - the chicken skewers and beef empanadas were a great start. We followed that up with the octopus (pulpo anticuchero) and the baby back ribs (costillitas). Both were delicious and enough to share. Thoroughly enjoyed the food and the atmosphere (we sat on the rooftop) and will be returning soon.
Very attractive menu and good food and cocktails. The kitchen was twice confused, but they tried to make it up. Good experience, just wish they were more attentive - glad we checked the bill.
This place is INCREDIBLE! The food, service, atmosphere was incredible. This will be one of the places I must go back to when I'm in town next! Love this place and everything I had was delicious!
Disappointed with the service , not very attentive at all, Almost appeared we were being ignored, food was very tasty and authentic to Peru, my steak was not good but all other meals were very tasty . Long gaps between courses . Drinks were great
Not sure I would return which is a shame S this restaurant was on my bucket list
Just back from Peru and wanted to continue the experience. Definitely good food especially the seviche and small plates.
Our server made recommendations for plates to share family-style and each dish was excellent! We had a party of 7 and everyone was extremely happy with the food. Would definitely recommend and will plan to visit again.
Unique combination of seafood, meat and flavors. Nice and tasty alternative to the steakhouses.
The service was outstanding and loved the food and pisco sours. Delicious!
From seating 6 adults for an 80th b'day, to the staff serving, it was very good. The wait staff was attentive throughout the evening and the server, (Marccavi)--- was patient in explaining the drink and food menu. The food choices were good and the various drink choices excellent. I would recommend a group have an early dinner, as the crowd level rose as we finished and were leaving.
