Let me start by saying, WOW! As soon as you walk in the restaurant you’re greeted by a very friendly cute young host, who sits us immediately. Our server was another cute young woman, who said her name was Jamie. She took her time explaining the menu to us, and recommended amazing food!! The drinks were just so delicious. I am pleased to say that my guest and I were beyond happy to have come to Tanta. The service from start to end was perfect. It was honestly a great Sunday Dinner at Tanta.
The staff were very nice. I had to change our reservations twice and they were very accommodating.
The ceviche sampler was incredible! The beef stir fry my husband had was delicious. Loved the plantain chips too
Our server was attentive and fun.
Overall a great experience..
Fun time. Peruvian food is unique and delicious. Great service. Lively-a bit noisy but we had a good table so were able to talk
Can't wait to come back. 10/10. Fantastic food and great coffee.
Such great service and amazing food!! Delicious cocktails too!!
Very glad we spotted this place on our last evening in Chicago. Food was outstanding and it was fun to try several different things. The octopus was tender and delicious. Loved the plantain chips!
Good, modern take on amazing Peruvian food. Items are all very tasty and able to be shared.
The food is beyond amazing with some of the most exquisite flavors we've ever tasted, beautiful presentations, and amazingly very little waiting for the dishes to come out from the kitchen. Our server though was unfortunately lackadaisical and inattentive, and when he was at our table he was rushed and quick. He was probably the exception, but still, a restaurant with this type of remarkable cuisine should make certain ALL their servers are trained in good customer service. As for what to eat, we ordered the octopus, the scallops, a mushroom vegetable dish and a beef empenada. EVERYTHING was amazing, I mean every bight of every dish was incredible!!
Family’s favorite restaurant
Though a little bit expansive, the taste is so great that I started to fall in love with Peruvian cuisine. Great location and ambience!
After coming back from Lima, it was a pleasure to reminisce of my Peruvian trip in Tanta. Great food, great drinks!
Tanta has great food, very creative! You can feel the energy as soon as you walk in. There’s something for everyone on the menu. The servers know the menu and direct you in any direction, no matter your good tastes.
It was my first time at one of Gaston Acurio's restaurants in the US. Being a Peruvian, I am a rigurous believer that "Made in Peru" is best eaten in Peru, period. With that being said, Tanta did not dissapoint. The Pisco Sour was a solid 8/10 and the best I've tasted in the US. The ceviche trio was a great way to show my American friends different taste from the same dish and the picarones were perfect!! a glorius 10/10!!. The chaufa was great but not outstanding. Good service as well. It is always crowded so make your reservation more than a week in advance!! In conclusion, I strongly recommend this place.
I love this place! Great food, cocktails and service.
You must try their Pisco Sour.
We had a party of 8 but Tanta does not have a table big enough to accommodate our party so we had a table of 6 and table of 2. We’d asked to be seated next to each other but they couldn’t accommodate us for some reason. I feel bad that my brother and his friend had to sit so far away from the rest of us.
Our server was ok. Many occasions during the dinner it made us feel like we were inconveniencing her when we made requests or ask questions (we could hear her sign or looking annoyed). Maybe she was having a bad day? My husband and I had been there two this times prior and the staff had always been nice and courteous. Everything we had there were delicious!😋
The food was so gorgeous d and piscina spurs awesome. And prices are great. Will definitely be back!!!
Tanta made our one year anniversary very special; we had our first date there, and they helped recreate it, including having us at the same table as our first date. They also brought us champagne and dessert to celebrate.
Wonderful everything. I'll be back. Again and again.
Very diverse menu of various cultural influences on Peruvian cuisine. All we tried were outstanding. The restaurant is a little small and a little noisy but the food and service make it well worthwhile.
I have been to Tanta a few times and they never disappoint. I highly recommend the ceviche, fried oysters, the chocolate mousse and the alfajores cookies are simply heaven. Can't wait to go back (if I can get a reservation).
Japanese + Chinese + Spainish + South American ...... on one table
Tasty & Fun !
Amazing service, great introduction by wait staff and recommendations off the menu! The food came out remarkably quick and our food so unique and flavorful. Would totally recommend and also return in the future.
Tanta was an amazing spot for Peruvian fusion!!! Delicious and we will go back!
The food at this restaurant is very good and the wait staff is lovely but the noise level is deafening . It was unpleasantly LOUD
Nice variety of spices.
Interesting variety of entrees
Great menu; choosing was difficult. The flavors were excellent. The pisco sour was very tasty. Friendly, well-informed staff. A little loud, but nothing oppressive. Will be back.
Amazing food. Spectacular.
This is one my preferred restaurants in Chicago...... Great Food...and amazing service
Food and service were amazing!!
Just an okay experience. Really wanted to love it. The tables in the area I was seated in were very close together. I can tell you all about the conversations the table next to me was having. And the table next to them.
Food was okay. My boyfriend ordered the steak, nothing special. I had a seafood rice dish. It was just okay as well. Drinks were good.
Our server was helpful in recommendations which is always appreciated.
The ambiance of the restaurant was underwhelming. There wasn't anything special in my opinion. The menu said they had a rooftop, curious what that is like as I definitely love rooftop venues!
When we walked out, I passed two men standing by the end of the bar/by the front door. They looks like management/owners. Neither of them or other staff members acknowledged us on our way out. I am in the restaurant business so that definitely stood out to me after an already lackluster dinner. Not sure I would recommend this restaurant. Maybe for drinks on the rooftop.
The dinner was delicious especially the octopus. Tasty cocktails!
The Pisco Sours and ceviche took us right back to Peru. Everything was very tasty and staff were helpful.
Tanta does a great job showcasing incredible Peruvian cuisine and its meshing together of distinctly different tastes, flavors, ingredients and traditions. A really, really good restaurant.
Simply amazing! Highly recommended. Food was delicious although high in caloric content.
I was not pleased with this restaurant at all. We were promised the second level was quieter yet with a party of about 20 people nearby, our table of 4 had to shout to be heard. The food is just horrible. The only thing I enjoyed was the less expensive pisco sour even though the waiter tried very hard to upsell me to the more expensive one. I paid $60 with tip for 1 entree, drink, tip. Too much for the seafood mixto that was not enjoyable to eat.
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at Tanta. The food was outstanding and beautifully presented. We shared the octopus skewer appetizer, which was probably our favorite octopus dish we've ever had. Next we shared the ahi tuna sashimi appetizer (the one with the coconut milk) -- the flavors were incredibly vibrant. We also tried the ahi tuna cuasita, which was also outstanding and very unique. My husband loved his lamb shank, and I raved about my new york strip that was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The drinks were also great -- especially the el macho. In addition to the wonderful food, our server, Becky, made our night with her top-notch service and impressive knowledge of and attention to my husband's food allergy. We highly recommend Tanta for a fun and delicious dining experience.
I have been many times over the past 5 months and the one constant is the hostess stand. They are not warm, friendly nor inviting. You need people who welcome complete strangers as if they are happy to have them. Otherwise the restaurant is consistently excellent!!
This was my first time dining Peruvian style and I didn't know what a lot of the foods were, but, we tried the chicken appetizer, which was excellent, the lamb and the mixed seafood plates were equally as excellent. The wine list is a bit pricey in my estimation, but overall the food was great and the service was great. I recommend you give this restaurant a try, you won't be disappointed.
