Tanta has two Chef’s Tables that each seat up to 10 people. These tables are located in our main dining room in between our open kitchen and cebiche bar which allows you and your guests to experience our chefs creating Peruvian cuisine while you dine.
The menu, created by Acurio and Tanta Chicago Chef Jesus Delgado, takes diners on a voyage through Peru via its food. From the Pacific Ocean, through the Andes, to the desert, to the Amazon, Tanta celebrates the diverse landscape and ethnicities that make up Peru’s culture.

It was good, the service was nice
The food is always good at Tanta. Waitress was nice but wasn’t particularly helpful with recommendations for a table of 5; also disappeared at end of meal so no more drinks and very long wait to get the check.
The small plates were awesome! Such a good ambiance as well. It was great for a double date night!
SPECTACULAR! The food was unique, inventive, and delicious. The service was fantastic (I think our waitresses name is Joanna - she was very helpful in helping us understand various dishes and made great recommendations. We will be back!

Brought friends visiting from NY and they were just as happy with the visit. The food never disappoints. We especially loved the chicken salad appetizer. Soooo good!!

I was so looking forward to an excellent dinner at Tanta. Having visited Peru, I know just how talented Peruvian chefs are. I didn't have an ordinary dinner there. Unfortunately, Tanta is a pale imitation of the fine cuisine in Peru.
As always, the food was delicious. We had a good waitress and enjoyed a nice Sunday lunch.

The food was very interesting and something we normally would not have tried. Our waiter was outstanding and patiently explained the menu to us.
Our server was phenomenal. We had him pick our entire meal. Was not disappointed- he rocked it out of the park.

Really great service and food. I will be back! Pobre, Ceviche sampler, and A Lo Pobre all on point. Dessert was brought for us at no charge in celebration of our special date. Waitress, hostess and busser were all attentive and hospitable.
Our family loves to share and experience. Tanta was great for us. The food was inventive and tasty. For me the unexpected best dish was the quinoa salad.
Amazing food, great service! We ordered the arroz con mariscos, lomo saltado and tallerin saltado. We loved all of it. I had the pobre to start and it was amazing. Tons of flavor in that small bite. I had the lima llama and my wife had the caipirinha. Both were fantastic. I would definitely go back.
A unique combination of cuisines and dishes you will not find anywhere else. The execution is excellent with efficient, personable service in a very pleasant setting.
The food and our server were exceptional! They offer a variety of creative and perfectly-seasoned dishes. Our server was knowledgeable, helpful and attentive. The noise level was on the high side but, for some reason, we did not have to shout across table. Great place for plate-sharing! Perfect for small to large groups. Would not recommend for a quiet, intimate dinner for two.
Disclaimer: I’m Peruvian, so totally biased in favor. At the same time, I can be overly critical. Now let’s get to it. I’ve been to Tanta in Chicago many times. I’ve also been to the Tanta restaurants in Lima a couple of times. The Chicago restaurant continues to be pretty authentic and pretty solid, but I wouldn’t say it continues to blow my mind. The ceviche today was marinated too long - maybe more popular in the US but considered a “pecado” in Peru. Everything else was good, pretty good in fact, but the mediocre ceviche would keep me from recommending or dragging people there to have the ultimate Peruvian dining experience. It pains me to say this, but there you go.

This was my second time at Tanta and I took my folks for dinner. The food was amazing the second time around. The seafood is incredibly fresh and we loved the Peruvian paella, octopus and beef (the gravy was so good) dishes. Our waitress was awesome and extremely knowledgeable about the food and where it was sourced from. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and our family was raving about how delicious and unique the meal was!
Tanta is our go-to when we want a fun, interesting dinner.
I’ve been going to Tanta with my family for years now and we simply cannot get enough of it! It’s an amazing experience not only because of the chefs’ delicious and authentic food, but also because of the waiting staffs’ excellent service. I highly recommend Tanta for anybody seeking the best food in Chicago.

Interesting place, menu was a bit busy, but lots of interesting choices. They sell it as family style, but I don't think you have to do that-the meal portions are appropriate for one. Overall, very interesting food, tables were tight, you're right on top of other folks, which is typical for downtown dinning-so hope you get sat next to nice people, we did, which made it enjoyable.
