The menu, created by Acurio and Tanta Chicago Chef Jesus Delgado, takes diners on a voyage through Peru via its food. From the Pacific Ocean, through the Andes, to the desert, to the Amazon, Tanta celebrates the diverse landscape and ethnicities that make up Peru’s culture.

What Insiders Are Saying
High-end Peruvian food that will cost you a bit but is worth the price.
Arrived for an early dinner, thank you to our server Miguel who walked us through the menu as it was our first time. We also overheard him go through the menu in details with other tables, with such patience. Amazing server! Food was yummy, empanadas are a must to start with. We had the chicken which was a safe option but boy did it exceed our expectations. It came with three sauces, rice & beans, potatoes & a salad. We were full at the end of our meal. To top it off we were celebrating our anniversary & we received a dessert at the end of our meal. What a surprise. Thank you tanta for making this night extra special. Can’t wait to come back during patio season!
2 New York foodies agree this is the best meal You will have in Chicago!
Overpriced. The quality is not what it used to be. This restaurant is definitely on the decline. Service was below average, rude waitress. Will not be going back.
I’m a red blooded White American Man far right of John Wayne, and these guys can do a damn good steak.
Excellent food, great service! As per my Opentable request they brought a complementary birthday treat for my boyfriend which was much appreciated so I didn't have to coordinate it while at the restaurant
Appetizers were great- I recommend the jalea- I order fried seafood- it was a bit greasy- my wife ordered the lomo saltado- it was just ok
We never miss dining at Tanta when in Chi-Town. Loooooooooove it so much.
Delicious, well-priced, thoughtful food. Friendly helpful staff, awesome desserr, delicious latté. Love the mural, but can’t wait for the rooftop to open!
We had a delicious meal - octopus appetizer and shank meal.
Very well done Peruvian food / influence - a wonderful experience for anyone who's never enjoyed Peruvian...and if you're looking for some in Chicago, this is the place! Only complaints are the service was very slow, and the wine list was over-priced for some basic wines - more than 4x versus stores.
The place is nice. Location as well. Food is ok, a bit overpriced a small but is understandable due the restaurant's nature and centric location. The thing that we didn't enjoy was that even though we made reservations, our servers was constantly trying to rush us. He pass time to time reminding us that they were closing the kitchen, that lunch time was over and so. I think it took us about 40 minutes to eat, and we were 4 people. That weird feeling doesn't correlate to the environment and food prices.
The food is simply fantastic!
I love the place , they are fantastic! Amaizing food , drinks and service
Awesome. This is one of our favorite restaurants in Chicago!
Outstanding food, drinks and ambiance
We liked everything about this place. The food was outstanding and had a creative flair to it.
Tanta was my first experience with Peruvian food & I cannot wait to go back. Absolutely delicious!
Very nice place with decent food - we especially loved the authenticity of the dishes.
Excellent sampling of Peruvian food with some fusion offerings popular in the US. Food and deserts were delicious.
Miguel is a fantastic server! The food was phenomenal. Drinks were solid. The women at the front were super helpful too. It was a perfect night out.
Everything was outstanding. The food was delicious. We ordered 4 different dishes and it was hard to pick a favorite. The service was also great. Our server was very well educated on all of the dishes and she was very nice. Everyone was very attentive. Our water glasses were never empty and even the manager came by our table and asked how everything was. We don’t usually go back to the same restaurant more than once with so many other places to try, but we will definitely be going back here. We highly recommend It.
Food and service was outstanding. We will be back!
Second visit to this outstanding Peruvian restaurant, this time with good friends who also found it "tantalizing." The cuisine is interesting and excellent and the service is friendly and knowledgeable. Our server, whose family originated in Peru, just returned from a three week visit to her parents' old country and was full of information and advice about the menu. We will be returning for another look at this restaurant and its interesting fare.
Lovely establishment with wonderful food and service. We greatly enjoyed the empanadas, pollo skewer, and verdura neiki.
Always interesting and delicious. Can be noisy and a little crazy for better and worse.
Great food. Amazing drinks: Pisco! Fantastic service. Looking forward to my next visit!!!
We went for lunch this week and the service was ridiculously slow. This is on top of the fact that we were 1 of only 4 tables filled in the whole restaurant. I love Tanta for dinner, but I was beyond disappointed with my lunch experience.
Also, the price of lunch was so high. When you compare to the other restaurants nearby, I'm not sure how you can find any value of going here for lunch. I would not recommend this place as a lunch spot to anyone.
Wonderful!! Everything was great. Will definitely be back.
Having never had Peruvian cuisine boy was I in for a treat! The empendas! The braised pork shoulder! The Pisco Sour. I will definitely come back next time I'm in Chicago!
It was fine just didn’t like I had to wait 30 minutes to be seated when I made reservations. Work on that please
Came recommended and did not disappoint😊
Waygu appetizer was fantastic. Ceviches are also very good.
Always good there. This time the veal hearts were a touch over done, but everything else was spot on. Great service with a group that stayed a while and we never felt rushed. Will keep going back for sure.
The food was fantastic. It was incredibly fresh and flavorful-a trip to Peru!
This place had a nice relaxed, intimate vibe. My girlfriends and I definitely enjoyed ourselves. Our server, Vanessa, was great at explaining the menu and very patient with our large group. I would definitely go back and try some other dishes I saw on the menu.
Definitely a place we will return to, with friends!
Service was great. Our first look at the menu was both exciting and confusing. Our server talked us through the menu, which heightened the whole experience.
The food, presentation and service exceeded expectations. We will be back.
This was our first time to Tanta and I was excited to try Peruvian food. The downside is coming at the peak rush on a Sat night, our waiter was overwhelmed with too many tables at the same time and we didn't get our questions answered however we ordered successfully. That being said the food was over the top delicious. I am still raving about it to our friends. I was surprised by all the seafood offered which is always a hit with me. The menu is eclectic from Asian and a bit of Italian influence. It was truly magical. We had scallops and an Empamada for an appetizer and I chose the chefs fun offering of his own creation. It had clams, shrimp etc in a rice dish, excellent. Looking forward to going back at a less busy time.
Best meal ever!!! Love TANTA. Great vibe and the food exceptional. We started with the plaintains and dip...a must. Tuna ceviche, octopus skewers and the fried rice....the rice came hot in a cast iron pot...great dish to share with the table. Flavor exceptional. Our server was very nice and helped with menu selections.
Amazing food and amazing service. Their free version of Peruvian chips and salsa with fried plantains and some kind of hot sauce is amazing and the chef aureperte (fried rice with shrimp and pork is the best dish I’ve ever tasted)
My fiance and I had our first date at Tanta, and it is now tradition to go to Tanta for our anniversary. This was our 2nd anniversary, and the Tanta team did a fabulous job recreating our first date -- they gave us the same table as our first date, and added a little extra something special by bringing us champagne and a little dessert. Tanta's overall food and presentation is fabulous, and they really do make their patrons feel special. I highly recommend coming here to celebrate a special occasion!
