Tanta is dedicated to sharing the flavors and culture of Peru with Chicago, serving authentic Peruvian dishes and beverages in an approachable, fun and casual downtown setting. We provide service that is casual yet knowledgeable, genuine and attentive, utilizing locally sourced products and vendors that are sensitive to sustainable farming and fishing.

Tanta has two Chef’s Tables that each seat up to 10 people. These tables are located in our main dining room in between our open kitchen and cebiche bar which allows you and your guests to experience our chefs creating Peruvian cuisine while you dine.

The menu, created by Acurio and Tanta Chicago Chef Jesus Delgado, takes diners on a voyage through Peru via its food. From the Pacific Ocean, through the Andes, to the desert, to the Amazon, Tanta celebrates the diverse landscape and ethnicities that make up Peru’s culture.

High-end Peruvian food that will cost you a bit but is worth the price.

Disappointed with the service , not very attentive at all, Almost appeared we were being ignored, food was very tasty and authentic to Peru, my steak was not good but all other meals were very tasty . Long gaps between courses . Drinks were great
Not sure I would return which is a shame S this restaurant was on my bucket list

Our server made recommendations for plates to share family-style and each dish was excellent! We had a party of 7 and everyone was extremely happy with the food. Would definitely recommend and will plan to visit again.

I have always been to Tanta for dinner ... this time I wanted to try the brunch menu and as always it was delicious! The avocado toast with raisins is really special and I definitely recommend it.

Went for my year anniversary at my job with my mom who isn’t very food adventurous. It had incredible food. I went to Peru a year ago and they had it all. The steak sashimi with quail eggs was great. The traditional beef dish was amazing. The pork choufa was great but I wasn’t too keen on the pork seasoning. I also got the traditional pisco sour which was tasty as well. We sat on the rooftop, which is the only way to do it, but they don’t take reservations/opentables for the roof so get there earlier. Overall one of the best restaurants I’ve been in Chicago!

Food was unique and fabulous, we have never eaten Peruvian food, it was a real treat. Our server was very helpful, guiding us through a menu we were unfamiliar with. Will definitely come back with friends.

The food and drinks were really food. The service was alright and I’m only saying that because at first they were a little slow but ALWAYS paid attention to when our drinks were low or we looked like we needed something and sent anyone to our table to assist when our waiter was not able to get there and i appreciated that. However, we were there for my husband’s birthday. I had called a head and made sure they New it was his birthday. The kind lady over the phone stated “yes, we have that down”. I’m not sure if they offer anything for birthdays but the way she said it...i expected then to give him a birthday surprise of some sort...but, nothing 😔. However the speech margaritas made up for it!

Everything was great except the service - we weren’t visited until after sitting for 10 minutes and I finally flagged someone down and asked for a waiter. The entire dinner, the service was very slow.

We came in to Tanta for my birthday dinner and I so glad that this was our choice. The food and service were both top notch. We had one hiccup during the meal but our server and then the manager both did everything the could to correct it. I'll definitely be back if only just for their ahi cebiche.

Wonderful to get a taste of Peruvian food in the U.S. My fish dish was better than what I ate at a well-reviewed French restaurant the day before. The quinoa salad was wonderful. Great server. I hope to visit Tanta again, the next time I am in Chicago.

Food was amazing! Many layers of flavor in each delicious bite. The Chaufa Aeropuerto was divine! Had a caramelized “crust” on the bottom, similar to sofrito in paella.
The Cebiche was perfect and empanadas extremely tasty.

Food was good, service was good, and the environment was good. The only reason this didnt get 5 stars across - was the noise level. It was very hard to have conversations where we were sitting due how loud it was.

Good food and lively atmosphere. Had some cocktails off the menu and they set the mood for a great night. Had the cebiche sampler, the short ribs and the pork fried rice....amazing!!! Looking forward to trying more of the menu!

Waitress was so nice and helpful. Food was amazing!! A bit bummed that there was a private party on the rooftop but that didn’t matter as the ambience indoors was still just as fun! Will definitely be back!

If you haven't discovered Peruvian cuisine . . . where have you been? Peruvian restaurants are now throughout the city and Tanta takes that cuisine and adds a fine dining interpretive flair.

Went for Sunday brunch but they were serving regular menu because World Cup soccer was showing on some TVs they had set up and were projecting over the bar and as a Peruvian restaurant soccer is a pretty big draw. Our waitress didn’t seem very interested in us once we asked for the brunch menu as it wasn’t available. Truly amazing food and we went with her recommendations so she made up for the disinterested service.

Fabulous food, drinks and atmosphere!
Great place to go with four to six people and sample many dishes. Corn empanadas, ceviche, lamb shank, and short ribs a must!

We visited Chicago from Sydney and were looking for a different type of Restaurant. Tanta was a perfect choice as we never had Peruvian food before. Absolutely loved this restaurant, our waitress Karla complemented the amazing tasty food with her fantastic knowledge of the menu and the specialty ingredients. The portions were very generous and the coctails super yummy. I would recommend booking an early dinner as the noise level will increase with the restaurant getting busier. Will definitely recommend Tanta and would love to dine there again.

Fantastic meal, sat on rooftop terrace which was fantastic. Great appetizers, tuna ceviche was excellent. Go the grilled octopus for dinner which was wonferful, colleague ordered the whole fish which was also very good

We loved the relax atmosphere at the rooftop! We set at the bar, and really enjoyed the food, drinks and music!
We order ceviche, yuquitas, beef empanada and a beef skewer. We will come back!
