Excelent food & perfect service
Great new addition to the Nashville food scene. The cocktails were delicious and the Peking duck was delicious and juicy!
Monday night dim sum was awesome! Very good food!
Some of the best food I’ve had, like ever. Ever. The apps were amazing . We had the pot stickers, wontons, and duck bao. Everyone agreed it was impossible to decide which was better. I had the general tso chicken and asked them to kick up the heat. It was perfect. Others had the shrimp wok and pork belly fried rice. Everyone was very happy with their meal. The service was also great, attentive and helpful without being annoying. Will definitely go back next time I’m in Nashville.
Great food (dim sum cart is fantastic!). Live DJ. Very nice atmosphere.
Very cool atmosphere and the dim sum cart is such a cool feature for brunch!
Went for brunch (bottomless brunch cocktails and dim sum carts! Can't go wrong there!). Food was outstanding. I will say that we managed to spend money really quickly on very small portions of food, so definitely more for a special occasion than a regular thing. The items from the kitchen seemed more reasonably priced for the amount of food you get. Service was slow - for bottomless cocktails, there were quite a few times we had empty glasses. Someone other than our server came over and explained how the whole process worked, but we didn't see our waiter, or even know who he was, for about 20 minutes after being seated. That made for a somewhat awkward/frustrating experience when we asked the person who first greeted us for refills/to order from the kitchen, he got our server, and we had to repeat our requests. Additionally, I appreciated the dim sum carts that were constantly circling, but they didn't always stop at our table and I felt awkward having to run the carts down. Overall good experience, excellent food and concept, but there are some growth areas that I wouldn't have expected at this restaurant.
I have been to Tansuo multiple times, and have always enjoyed my experience there. The food is great, and up until dinner this past Saturday, service was great as well. We had a group of 9 celebrating my birthday. (Mind you, I had a group of 12 for my birthday last year at the same restaurant). When it came time to pay, the waitress was extremely confused, as if she had never had to split a bill before. She asked us if we could split it ourselves, and handed us sticky notes to help write down our orders. The manager had to get involved, and asked us if we would just be willing to split it 9 ways - which made no sense as some people got only one appetizer (no drinks or entrees) and others got multiple appetizers, entrees, and drinks. He said he had "never seen a bill quite like ours." It really wasn't that crazy. 9 people - a couple people out of the 9 sharing/splitting certain things, but nothing wild. Additionally, the birthday dessert was never brought out as requested by a friend of mine. She knew we were celebrating a birthday, and even made sure to figure out whose birthday it was early on in the night. Then, nothing was comped, even though we dealt with paying the bill for over 1 hour. Unfortunately, despite loving the food, that experience was so sour that I will not return. To not get a birthday dessert during a birthday celebration and then to not have anything comped despite the inconvenience (the bill was $450, so not cheap), from such a nice establishment was appalling.
Everything we tried was delicious, we will definitely be back!
Loved the place, had some tasty appetizers, and the server was definitely well-versed when it came to the menu & ingredients ... Ultimately, though, we came for the Peking Duck and it was a bit of a let-down.
It arrived at the table in a timely manner, but it was obvious once we began digging in that it had been sitting out for a while and had started going cold. The scallion pancakes didn't seem so fresh, and the crepes were cool to the touch even though they came in a steamer basket. The duck was decent & tasty, and we finished it off, but just wish it would have been delivered fresh from the kitchen. The bao were great, and the accompanying sauces & garnishes were excellent. Yummy brussels, pork fried rice, and brisket won-tons were the highlight of the meal. Creative and tasty cocktails.
Food was excellent and the DJ was on point.
Loved the food. Did not like my table on the rail upstairs.
We came from Iowa in our honeymoon and I was very excited to try Tansuo. The staff was all very friendly and helpful, and the food was great. We were a huge fan of the shrimp stuffed rangoons!!
I have to say I was disappointed. The ambiance and noise level were great and the restaurant is beautifully decorated. Our server was friendly, but not particularly helpful in descriptions of the food. Our eggplant appetizer came fairly quickly and was delicious. However, the rest of the meal (2 entrees) took over an hour to arrive. We asked and someone finally came to say there was a large party ahead of us...maybe so, but still. I will say the food was delicious when it finally came.
It’s a great restaurant in the Chauhan family of restaurants. Highly recommend and sake selection is enormous.
Our server Joel was great!
The food was delicious and great presentation. Service was excellent and very nice ambiance. A little dark for reading the menu. Only complaint was the fact that we had brought a cake and they charged us $20 to eat our own cake. Recommend making this clear on the website/Open table so customers know to expect this.
High expectations for new upscale Asian Restaurant in the Gulch. It was a bit hit and miss. Attractive space. The lamb dim sum was extremely good as was the salad. The cauliflower entrée was fabulous - I’m going to try to recreate it at home. In contrast, the sliced chicken dish was overcooked and largely flavorless. The Dan Dan noodles were also a bit overcooked and the flavor was flat with a bitter undertone. They had a DJ who was playing Madonna at excessive volume which was turned down after we talked with the manager.
The food was amazing! I would recommend the General Tso Cauliflower, the Dan Dan Noodles, or the Brussel Sprouts!
This is a beautiful restaurant; the abacus railings are a wonderful touch. We've been twice, once as a couple and once as a large party (this visit). The service was uniformly excellent both times, but especially on the latter visit, where the staff coordinate supremely well at handling the large number of dishes and answering questions from some of the first-timers. There's a bit of fusion to some of the dishes on the menu, but this is still the best Chinese cuisine in Nashville.
Great food, service and ambiance. Always a pleasure to go there.
So good! We arrived early and got seated right away. The server was very helpful in suggesting items since it was our first time there. Everything was amazing. The dumpling dim sum is truly a work of art and the Peking duck is delish! We will definitely be back to Tansuo!
I visited Tansua twice in the same week and each visit was outstanding. My vegetarian options were delicious and unexpected I am happy to say. Imagination went into the dishes to make them memorable. It was such a relief to be able to have conversation without having to shout. Kaitlyn was our server and she was charming and so helpful in describing dishes for us. This is a wonderful dining option that has moved to the top of our list!
Everything was great, but he music was a little loud.
Excellent service, knowledgeable wait staff, incredible flavors. Everything about Tansuo was top notch.
The Peking Duck was nothing like that we have had in Beijing, New York China Town, and Chicago. It also does not even meet the dictionary definition of Peking Duck. The other food we had was very good and the pork shank outstanding and is as good as any we have had in New York.
Came for our anniversary on a Monday. Restaurant wasn't busy and I was excited about the dim sum cart. We ate here once previously and it was amazing.
This time was meh.
Told the server we wanted to enjoy some dim sum before our mains and he assured us he would course out the meal. Glass cart came around, ordered a few things, most were barely warm and I didn't know the server was supposed to bring sauces. Our entrees came out before I finished my first piece of dim sum. I was bummed. The chicken had great flavor but it was very fatty and the skin was chewy instead of crispy. We ordered the same pork belly fried rice as before and it wasn't as good this time. Salty, and carrots were very undercooked and hard.
First time was amazing but this time made me never want to return. Between the overpriced $8-$10 dim sum that's 2 pieces that were all room temp, the server dropping the ball on entrees and then disappearing when food arrived, we were in and out in less than 45 minutes and we never even got a "Happy anniversary thanks for choosing us to celebrate"
We probably won't return. :(
All our food was phenomenal! We definitely took advantage of the half priced sake on Sunday nights - wish it was posted somewhere online - had to call in to verify. The duck was my friends favorite and I ADORED the Shanghai belly fried rice. Braeden was an excellent server and bartender and attended perfectly to all out needs! Thank you for a wonderful birthday celebration!
The food was all very delicious. The atmosphere was great and the service was amazing. We will definitely go back again.
Just a side note: Next time I will order a salad to go with it though bc everything even the brussle sprouts were heavy, rich, & saucy (it could have just been what we ordered).
Loved everything about this restaurant! Highly Recommend! Dim Sum Carts continuously come by, glass & steamed. So good! Great drink specials too!
Went for Sunday Brunch - dim sum items were ok - they tried to make them more unique than traditional dim sum but seemed to stuggle with how much to veer off course. They were great in some cases (shrimp toast) , mediocre in others (pork dumplings, Brussels sprouts) and failed at times (golden eggs had a raw dough taste). Their take on chicken and waffles was ok but not as good as either traditional chicken and waffles or traditional general tsos chicken from a good take out place. It was fine but not worth the hype or the price.
Our server was amazing!! She typically works at the sister restaurant and it was her first day at Tansuo, she rocked it.
Our food was all delicious, we thought the General Tsos chicken was kind of tough, but loved everything else. Cocktails were yummy and the egg drop soup was phenomenal.
My family came for dinner while we were in Nashville on vacation. I live in the SF area and was a bit unsure if it would live up to Bay Area standards. Everyone in the family really enjoyed everything, including my foodie sister. It's not all authentic dim sum like you'd get in SF, but it was delicious so who cares. We had shrimp-stuffed eggplant, sui mai, duck dumplings, sesame golden eggs, sing fong chicken breast, General Tso's chicken and gan bian green beans. Due to a mixup, we were also given the shishito peppers for free. Suprisingly, the sesame golden eggs were a favorite and we almost ordered a second batch. Cocktails were also great.
The restaurant is really beautiful as well and the service was great. Our waiter was very helpful. I'd definitely recommend this place.
Cantonese Chinese with a creative gourmet approach. Literally everything I’ve ordered has been wonderfully executed and presented and tasted fabulous. I highly recommend this restaurant and my wife and I especially like it for date night!! Larger groups allow more variety. They do have large group gathering rooms. 👍👍
Decor beautiful down to every detail. Service Impeccable food absolutely incredible. A wonderful dining experience we will be back soon
We've been to Tansuo several times and this visit was definitely the worst. It was our first time to try the Peking Duck which was good. The main issue we had was timing of the food and drink. We were going to order a bottle of wine and the server offered to get us a couple of tastes to make sure we would like our selection. The 2 tastes of wine took more than 15 minutes to receive. This wouldn't have been a problem normally, but we had ordered an appetizer which came out in less than 5 minutes. We would have loved to have eaten our appetizer with the wine we ordered. We didn't really care for the wines we tried, so we ordered a bottle of something we were familiar with. The bottle of wine took another 10 minutes to arrive.
We had ordered some Dan Dan noodles to go with our Duck. The duck was presented to us before being taken back to the kitchen for carving. Shortly after this, the Dan Dan noodles arrived, but the carved duck took another 10 more minutes to arrive. By the time the duck arrived, the noodles were cool at best and mushy.
All of the food and drink would have been great had the timing been correct.
We aren't ones that want to complain at every issue, but at the end of the meal when the server asked if we wanted to take the 3/4 of the noodles that were left home with us, we declined and said they were very mushy and overcooked already and really wouldn't be good warmed up. This would have been a great time for the server or a manager to have at least apologized for the continued miscues throughout the meal but nothing was done.
With the many great restaurants in town that do a great job with food, service and timing it's hard to go back to a restaurant that can't do the simple things correct. It's a shame because the food is typically great.
Food was outstanding and LOVED the atmosphere. Great date night for a night on the town!
Went to the restaurant to catch up with a friend over lunch. Ample parking, good food & service.
