Tannin Wine Bar and Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
The restaurant is cozy. The food was delivered to the table just as described on the menu. The gouda cheese flight, salmon main dish, and ahi tuna main dish were prepared perfectly. When reviewing the wine list, the content is tops in choice with exquisite vineyards to choose from including local vineyards.
Michael, our waiter, was engaging and was able to answer every question put to him since this was our first time at the restaurant.
The only slight hiccup of the night was that our table was not ready for us when we had reserved it since the people who had the table before us took a little longer to finish their meal and subsequent conversation. The staff were very polite and requested that we have a seat at the front of the house where we shared a glass of wine or water and good conversation.
I love a good prix fixe that's paired with awesome wine, and that's exactly what I got here. The waiter was very down-to-earth and friendly, and very accommodating with any special requests on the wine pairings suggested with the three-course tasting menu. You are presented with different options for each course: I had the crab dip (good but a bit salty), the prime rib (cooked beautifully!), and the very tasty peach ice cream dessert. The somm was very friendly and knowledgeable as well, and provided details about each of the wines he poured; I thought the pairings were spot-on. Overall a fantastic pre-Kauffmann concert experience, and one I highly recommend!
This was one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. The service was impeccable, the sommelier was informative and down to earth. The wine pairings gave us an elevated appreciation for the way wine and food can enhance each other. And I had the best ribeye of my life.
We were wowed again at Tannin. We decided to stop in for a bite on our Anniversary, and we were not disappointed. We were promptly seated, congratulated on our anniversary, and given a glass of bubbly (quite good by the way) as a compliment. Our small plates and dessert were amazing as usual. I wish we had decided to come back for the second night in a row!
We have been to Tannin now multiple times. This restaurant has an incredible atmosphere and ambiance. The menu is very well thought out and quite tasty. If you like, they have a tasting menu that is either 3 course or 4 course and can be paired with 1/2 glass of wine or full glass of wine for a very reasonable price. They have quite an extensive wine menu and one of the largest by the glass menu's I have yet seen. The director of wine, Barry, is extremely well versed in all the wines they serve at the restaurant and will give explicit details about the wine, region it is from, the climate, and what to look for when you taste the wine. Even when Barry is not available, he has adequately prepared his staff with the knowledge of the wines to assist in choosing just the right wine for your meal. The service is well above average and the chefs are willing to accommodate any special needs. All I can say is, if you haven't tried this restaurant in the Crossroad you need to get down there and give it a try.
There were 3 of us, one of whom is a bit hearing impaired. We asked for a booth first, but there was a large group and it was noisy at that table. Our hostess was accommodating, and allowed us to check out another indoor table, but the noise level was still significant so we opted for an outdoor table. There was music, but per our request it was turned down and a more quiet musical genre was tuned in. The service was good, as was the wine, though the parmesan "tart" two of us ordered was dry and flavorless (and not a tart, more like small biscuits). It was one of my companion's birthday, and we were brought a taste of champagne in celebration which was a nice touch. Overall, it was a very good experience, and enjoyable ambiance. I will return.
The young lady who brought us water refills was right on the money, every time. The food was good, although the appetizer we had (grilled plate) seemed to consist of mostly brussel sprout shells (hard outer layer) than anything else. Could have used more white sauce as well.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and the service was excellent. They had an extensive wine list and their semmelier even came to our table to discuss some specific options. Along with dinner we ordered one of their excellent cheese trays and it was plentiful and delicious.
This was our first time here and we can't wait to return.
My wife and I had a very nice dinner here, before a concert, and the food was good and very well prepared. The fish was cooked to perfection, which seems to be hard for a lot of restaurants these days.
I was impressed with the wine options by the glass, since they had about 30 wines available. I was a little skeptical, that you could have that many wines open by the glass, before many of them get rather tired, especially during the week. Their were many wines I had never heard of, and I usually go to those, and sure enough, the wine tasted like it had been opened for a number of days. However, I was allowed to order another one, after receiving a sample of my next pick. So, it all worked out well. I think the pricing on the wine is rather high, especially by the bottle. However, whenever I go to a wine bar, I usually order the tastings, so I can get to taste several wines.
Took quite awhile for our lunch to arrive at the table (longer than 30 mins) and we were the only ones there (table of 4).
Our waitress was friendly and introduced herself, but another gentleman assisted and was quite awkward without informing us he was assisting our waitress (not even a mention of a name).
A little noisy/overhead music for a business meeting. I'd stick with happy hour at this location.
