The wine menu was incredible and we had a very attentive server. I tried the Chateau Musar and it was an enjoyable new experience. My husband got the red sangria and unfortunately it had too much soda for his/our taste. I told him to send it back, but he's the type of customer that doesn't like doing that. We got the Chimichurri Sausage app and it was a little disappointing. Considering it's a small menu we expected to be impressed with any selection, but this wasn't true with that particular app. My husband got the strip steak and I got the burger - both were great.
We had a wonderful experience at Tannin. The staff was very knowledgeable on the wine and cocktail list which enhanced our visit. The food was perfect for sharing and delicious!
Went here for Valentine's Day. The service was great and the ambiance was lovely. I would recommend to a friend for possibly a drink and an appetizer, but we were not impressed with the entrees we ordered. They were decent but for the price we expected more.
Crab dip a bit fishy, couscous served with chicken had distinct dairy flavor. Will be back to try more dishes, however.
Never disappointing. It's delicious food, well-presented by an attentive staff at a good price and with good cocktails and an amazing wine list. What's not to like?
Really was hoping for a great new find, not the case@ all. Our server was sweet, however the staff seemed put out and the food was average.
We love the wine list at Tannin because there is always something new to try! Keisha and the rest of the waitstaff are great, as is Barry!
Tannin truly is a jewel of Kansas City. I would recommend to anyone looking to make the night special.
The ambiance of this place is great! Came here for dinner, but they refused to honor a gift card that said it was available for Dinner and the Special 3-course Menu. Well... we got dinner and they said it was supposed to be ONLY for 3-course menu though the gift card did not specify. Given the vague fine print, I thought they should have just honored a gift card for $25, as there was still plenty left on the bill-- we ordered 2 burgers at $20 each plus an appetizer.
Great service. Very bland food. Tiny desserts.
Very strange waiter, food was delicious though.
I wanted this meal to be awesome as this was the first real date out with my wife since we had our baby girl. Unfortunately it just fell short. My steak was mediocre, so was the octopus dish, everything else I would grade a flat B. Call me crazy, but for $180 for 2 people with 1 wine pairing and one extra glass of wine... well, Tannin just fell flat of our expectations. Even despite the B quality food, the service was excellent and the sommelier is such a fun character that I factored that into the "entertainment" aspect of the meal. Still, sorry to say we won't be doing date nights at Tannin in the future.
It was the perfect way to start our evening. We were going to Kaufmann Center for "The Color Purple". Our waiter was so helpful with our first visit to the restaurant. The food was great! Will certainly recommend to friends and family! And try again sometime!
Just wouldn’t recommend eating off the restaurant week menu... have been before and it was amazing
This was the last Sat of restaurant week and we came prior to a show at the Kauffman. They were wonderful and got us in and out in a timely fashion. The special menu looked tempting but we chose to order off the regular menu. The chicken tortilla soup and lamb meatballs were delicious. We split their waygu burger which was cooked to perfection. Great experience.
It was Restaurant Week & we came for lunch. Both loved the chicken tortilla soup & ditalini & cheeses. Was disappointed that a glass of wine was so expensive. We had water. Service excellent.
Wonderful service, relaxing! Our server Kaysha (sp?) was so knowledgeable about the wine. Don’t go if you need to rush....just sit back and enjoy
We ate off the Restaurant Week menu. My husband liked his soup and the mac and cheese was very good. I had the spinach salad and it was delicious. I also had the roast beef grilled cheese and it was very disappointing. No flavor at all. Not something that would make us want to go back.
A little pricey but great food and wine.
Very cold through the front of the house even with the curtains attempting to stop the breeze. Sat several tables away from the front door. The cold air was very distracting from the food and beverage. Our server was very knowledgeable and the food good. Not “wow-ed” but would go back.
