Tannin Wine Bar and Kitchen Ratings and Reviews
The wine menu was incredible and we had a very attentive server. I tried the Chateau Musar and it was an enjoyable new experience. My husband got the red sangria and unfortunately it had too much soda for his/our taste. I told him to send it back, but he's the type of customer that doesn't like doing that. We got the Chimichurri Sausage app and it was a little disappointing. Considering it's a small menu we expected to be impressed with any selection, but this wasn't true with that particular app. My husband got the strip steak and I got the burger - both were great.
The ambiance of this place is great! Came here for dinner, but they refused to honor a gift card that said it was available for Dinner and the Special 3-course Menu. Well... we got dinner and they said it was supposed to be ONLY for 3-course menu though the gift card did not specify. Given the vague fine print, I thought they should have just honored a gift card for $25, as there was still plenty left on the bill-- we ordered 2 burgers at $20 each plus an appetizer.
I wanted this meal to be awesome as this was the first real date out with my wife since we had our baby girl. Unfortunately it just fell short. My steak was mediocre, so was the octopus dish, everything else I would grade a flat B. Call me crazy, but for $180 for 2 people with 1 wine pairing and one extra glass of wine... well, Tannin just fell flat of our expectations. Even despite the B quality food, the service was excellent and the sommelier is such a fun character that I factored that into the "entertainment" aspect of the meal. Still, sorry to say we won't be doing date nights at Tannin in the future.
It was the perfect way to start our evening. We were going to Kaufmann Center for "The Color Purple". Our waiter was so helpful with our first visit to the restaurant. The food was great! Will certainly recommend to friends and family! And try again sometime!
This was the last Sat of restaurant week and we came prior to a show at the Kauffman. They were wonderful and got us in and out in a timely fashion. The special menu looked tempting but we chose to order off the regular menu. The chicken tortilla soup and lamb meatballs were delicious. We split their waygu burger which was cooked to perfection. Great experience.
We ate off the Restaurant Week menu. My husband liked his soup and the mac and cheese was very good. I had the spinach salad and it was delicious. I also had the roast beef grilled cheese and it was very disappointing. No flavor at all. Not something that would make us want to go back.
Very cold through the front of the house even with the curtains attempting to stop the breeze. Sat several tables away from the front door. The cold air was very distracting from the food and beverage. Our server was very knowledgeable and the food good. Not “wow-ed” but would go back.
From what I heard about this place, I was expecting quite a lot. I should've tempered expectations, as it was definitely not worth the hype for me. The saving grace was the service we received, as our waiter was very polite, and courteous. The food was just ok. We had the Pork Osso Bucco, which tasted like Heinz beans and slow cooked pork in a crock pot. The Braised short Rib was much better than the pork, but it was a bit on the cold side. I know their kitchen was busy, as it took almost 30 mins for our desert to come out. The wine pours were a bit on the stingy side for a "full glass" especially considering the price, it would have been a better idea getting a full bottle. Anyways, at leas I can say that I tried it, but I do not see myself ever going back. The most disappointing thing about this place was the lack of privacy with how close the tables are set together. I could feel the person next to me breath. And to use the restroom or anything, you will definitely be in the next tables personal space. Good luck conversing with the person witting with you.
My experience was not the best. I have normally always enjoyed this restaurant and decided to introduce it to someone who has never been. The service was not the greatest, but also I knew it was restaurant week and things are very busy so that is understandable. What I didn't like was when my silverware was missing from the table that was wrapped in a napkin, I asked the server if I could get one he looked down on the floor he picked up a rolled napkin with silverware containing it and put it back on the table and walked away. I did not think that was very sanitary that he was giving me a rolled silverware that it been sitting on the floor. Luckily, we were sitting next to another table who saw the whole event and someone got up and went to an empty table and grabbed me a clean silverware setup.
It took very long for him to return and the other guests on either side of us who ordered after us received their food way before us.
The whole experience was a little disappointing.
Wonderful service and food! The wine is a little pricy, but really great quality. Our waiter knew the menu so well and what wines to pair with what dishes. His recommendations on food and wine were great. All around a great first experience here during restaurant week!
Our server, Juliann was nice but inattentive. One of the other servers was a delight and came in to help. Two other servers that brought our meals handed us hot plates and almost dropped them in our laps. Julian brought a flat coke o one of my guests. When we asked about it, he went to check on the CO2 but never came back. We came for restaurant week. The food flavors were there but my dish was served with a lot of fatty pieces. The dessert was four mini cookies that were not any better than store bought cookies. The wine choices were spot on. Those we enjoyed thoroughly.
We have been here many times and chose to have New Years Eve dinner here. Really an
overall great experience each time. The only miss was the meatball appetizer came out
not as warm as we would like and they were a little dry from sitting under the heat lamp.
Mentioning to the waitress the only offer was to bring another plate after we had eaten 2
of the three. We had a $170 bill and it would have been nice to just have the item taken
off the ticket. The rest of the food was exceptional and we will be back. A small miss.
My daughter loves this place and we do too. A nice mix of Customers with wait staff that know their wines and mixed drinks.
We went all Tapas and then we ordered another round. We were never rushed and annoyed a mighty fine evening on Christmas. Thanks for being open.
How wonderful to not only enjoy a delicious meal creatively executed, but also to enjoy conversation without loud music and background noise. A delightful variety of options from starters to entrees. My crispy skin salmon was divine. The server was professional with that little touch of throw-it-back-atcha sassiness that I love. Pricey but not outlandishly so. Definitely a place for an encore une fois dinner with friends.
I’ve eaten here many times and brought a group of friends, it took an hour and 20 minutes to get appetizers another 25 minutes for food and we were late for our show. The manager was friendly but our server was terrible. The desserts were ok...cookie was burnt
Everything about Tannin wine bar & kitchen was excellent. My husband & i came here for dinner before going to the trans Siberian orchestra. I had the tuna and he had the pork chop. Both were excellent along with their crab dip for appetizer and pound cake for dessert. Their wine recommendations and tastings were excellent & the waitress was knowledgeable about their wines. We will be returning!
