WE always enjoy Tannin's. The food is great. Good prompt service. Fabulous wine selections and advise. The lamb chop with vanilla glaze was really good. Iaf you haven't try it and you will be happy.
Great food! Love the Happy Hour prices!
JIM was a great waiter!
Tannin Wine Bar exceeded our expectations. The ambiance, food, wine, service was perfect.
The menu is very limited. We had two hamburgers and salmon with five glasses of wine. The bill was $164 plus tip. The hamburgers were good but the frys were not. We asked for bar-b-que sauce and they did not have any.
In short - overpriced and under-featured.
We sat on the patio and it was beautiful! We had an amazing waiter who helped recommend several wine selections.
This was my second visit to Tannin and I'll definitely be back. I really appreciate that they allow tastings of all of their wine by the glass.
Everything was kind of bland, steak was tough, waiter was bland also.
Peanut butter cookie was good!
A friend recommended Tannin’s before going to the ballet at Kauffman Center. It was perfect walking distance to and from. The service was outstanding. The food was very delicious! There were so many choices for wine and the two that we picked were great!!! They were quick but not pushy and got us in and out before the show. Will definitely go back again! Thanks!!
Simply wonderful service and amazing food and wine. Perfect for our wedding anniversary!
Excellent all the way around. My wife and I celebrated our 15 year anniversary here. The service was great and the food was excellent. The wine offering was also very good. They have cozy booths for a intimate setting.
Had a bottle of wine - server had knowledge of the wine list but very rudimentary wine knowledge in general and forgot to bring our food. It was an acceptable experience.
Our experience was wonderful!! Went for a special occasion and was treated as such. The atmosphere is charming, sophisticated, friendly but not overbearing staff. Dark wood, very nice tables, bar and booths. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable. All of his wine recommendations were excellent. The food was outstanding!! We will definitely be back soon!
We had a lovely time. Our server was outstanding -- perhaps the best we've had in the city.
The food was generally good though the portions were a little large for our tastes and we took too much home. We'd vastly prefer smaller portions that were a little more carefully prepared.
Still, though, we'd go back.
Tannin was awesome as always. Barry and crew have exceptional service, food, and wine!
After my sister walked in KCFW, we decided to head there afterwards for dinner. Our server was exceptional in knowledge and creating a great experience. We tried some new bubbles he suggested that we will most definitely order again! Thank you for a great evening!
Very disappointed in our experience. The hostess was the only staff member who was friendly and welcoming. Sat at our table for 15 minutes and made eye contact with 3 servers before anyone brought us water. I had to stop the waiter to ask to place our order and get our bill. Barely stopped to see how our food tasted. We never received a “hi, welcome...I’m x and will be taking care of you tonight.” While the food was good, $9 for a tiny salad was overpriced.
Get the wine pairings with the meal! The sommelier is outstanding, and his narrative about what you're drinking is fabulous!
We went to Tannin Wine bar for our anniversary dinner. We were greeted warmly and immediately meet with "Happy Anniversary." After we were seated they gave us a complimentary champagne toast. From there it was all wonderful. Great service, amazing food, we will be going back soon
Just had great appetizers and drinks. Recommend grilled veggies plate.
This is my third visit to Tannin. We generally will go there for dinner/drinks before a concert. Generally speaking it is always a great experience. I will say this last visit they fell short on service. Granted, I was able to book a party of 6 just 30 minutes prior to our reservation time, so maybe they did not have adequate staff on duty, but the service was extremely slow. To the point where we had to go to the bar ourselves to retrieve our drinks that were sitting there waiting for our server. Our server was darling, but I think she had too many tables assigned to her. I would expect that on big concert nights at the Sprint Center (we were going to see The Eagles), they would staff up. Hopefully the service this evening was just a fluke. Based on my other experiences there, I will give them another chance.
We've been coming to Tannin for years, and it's always been a great experience. For dinner, for drinks, for dessert...it's a perfect spot for any occasion. Food and service is consistently excellent!
The interior decorating was my favorite. Felt comfortable, cute, and stylish, without being overwhelmed despite it being my first time here. The lamb chop was perfect, and the portion sizes were perfect too.
My boyfriend and I had a great time! Our server was kind, attentive, and knowledgeable. The wine list was great and we loved the crab dip.
This was our first time here. We wanted a glass of very good wine and some small plates before a show at The Kauffman. With a reservation we were seated immediately and the food was served quickly. We had about an hour, which was plenty of time. I found a unique and varied list of wines by the glass and many small plates/salads/cheeses, etc to choose from. We thought it was perfect and definitely plan to return. Within walking distance of The Kauffman or Sprint Center there aren't many restaurants that have this combination of an expert wine list & quick small plate service for a pre-show meal. Tannin Wine Bar was a great choice for us!
Tannin is always one of my "go-to" places in KC. Never a bad experience. The food is always good, the staff friendly, and great recommendations on wine.
We stumbled upon this place 8+ yrs ago and come back every time we come to Kansas City!!!
The wine menu was incredible and we had a very attentive server. I tried the Chateau Musar and it was an enjoyable new experience. My husband got the red sangria and unfortunately it had too much soda for his/our taste. I told him to send it back, but he's the type of customer that doesn't like doing that. We got the Chimichurri Sausage app and it was a little disappointing. Considering it's a small menu we expected to be impressed with any selection, but this wasn't true with that particular app. My husband got the strip steak and I got the burger - both were great.
We had a wonderful experience at Tannin. The staff was very knowledgeable on the wine and cocktail list which enhanced our visit. The food was perfect for sharing and delicious!
Went here for Valentine's Day. The service was great and the ambiance was lovely. I would recommend to a friend for possibly a drink and an appetizer, but we were not impressed with the entrees we ordered. They were decent but for the price we expected more.
Crab dip a bit fishy, couscous served with chicken had distinct dairy flavor. Will be back to try more dishes, however.
Never disappointing. It's delicious food, well-presented by an attentive staff at a good price and with good cocktails and an amazing wine list. What's not to like?
Really was hoping for a great new find, not the case@ all. Our server was sweet, however the staff seemed put out and the food was average.
We love the wine list at Tannin because there is always something new to try! Keisha and the rest of the waitstaff are great, as is Barry!
Tannin truly is a jewel of Kansas City. I would recommend to anyone looking to make the night special.
Great place for a late night bite. One of our favorites.
The ambiance of this place is great! Came here for dinner, but they refused to honor a gift card that said it was available for Dinner and the Special 3-course Menu. Well... we got dinner and they said it was supposed to be ONLY for 3-course menu though the gift card did not specify. Given the vague fine print, I thought they should have just honored a gift card for $25, as there was still plenty left on the bill-- we ordered 2 burgers at $20 each plus an appetizer.
Great service. Very bland food. Tiny desserts.
Very strange waiter, food was delicious though.
I wanted this meal to be awesome as this was the first real date out with my wife since we had our baby girl. Unfortunately it just fell short. My steak was mediocre, so was the octopus dish, everything else I would grade a flat B. Call me crazy, but for $180 for 2 people with 1 wine pairing and one extra glass of wine... well, Tannin just fell flat of our expectations. Even despite the B quality food, the service was excellent and the sommelier is such a fun character that I factored that into the "entertainment" aspect of the meal. Still, sorry to say we won't be doing date nights at Tannin in the future.
