Service very slow, fruit not ripe and not cut very well melon and cantaloupe had rind and was green,
Bloody Mary not my liking I like that it was spicey but u chew the seasoning
Tanner Smith's was a great place to go to brunch before a matinee! We had the $40 special - 1 entree, 2 drinks and "tea cakes". We could have done without the tea cakes - very plain and not that great. But the entree and drinks were delicious.
Loved the atmosphere, decor and food was amazing! Location was very convenient to our hotel.
Great ambiance with Jazz musicians.
The service was exceptional and the menu interesting. The long flight of stairs to the restrooms was quite difficult for us senior citizens!
Loved everything about the place and the brunch. The Tara O' Grady band was an added bonus.
Met up with a couple people for drinks and apps pre-dinner. Craft cocktails were on point and everything we tasted was not just good, but elevated. For example, loved the Thai Deviled Eggs. Service was the perfect balance of attentive and not intrusive.
I love Tanner Smith's for dinner and happy hour, but this was the first time I went for brunch. It was good but not outstanding in my eyes. For me, the bloody mary was too tomato-y and I thought the food was a bit under-seasoned for my taste. I probably wont go back for brunch but will definitely still go back for happy hour!
The food was excellent but the service was a bit slow. We ended up getting our drinks and meals at the same time. If you're going for brunch I'd recommend sitting in the bar area as opposed to the restaurant...we couldn't hear the jazz band at all and that was one of the main reasons we went.
Great menu, great value. Wait staff changed shifts and we were neglected for a while, but not a problem, since lingering was quite nice.
Food was pretty bad. I'd been there a few years ago and remember it being tasty. We were all disappointed. Service was mediocre - wait staff fairly rude when we asked questions (how could we be that stupid to ask for a description of the special street corn, when we were asking if it was on or off the cob - side note on that, we were told it "tastes quite fresh" but it definitely tasted like the corn was previously frozen). That said ambiance there is good - they have a jazz band for weekend brunches - and I wouldn't rule out having a drink there.
So loved the tipsy tea brunch. Eggs Benedict and poutine with steak on side was a hit. We’ll be telling our friends.
Great meal. Awesome variety of food to choose from. Server was excellent and gave great recommendations
Surprisingly great place to go for a business lunch. Really like the grain bowl, but I have to admit great jealousy for the couple enjoying what looked like great chicken wings.
Great value, great food, comfortable surroundings. I would absolutely recommend Tanner Smith's to anyone! It's conveniently located to Broadway and other midtown spots.
Tanner Smith's is a fun tavern with great food. We enjoyed the brunch on a Saturday. The menu wasn't big but the choices were varied. They were kind enough to make substitutions for me, very accommodating. All in all a very nice experience.
Almost everything was great, however... I was there for the Tipsy Tea brunch which I thought included Jazz. I was seated so far away from the music that it was impossible to hear. To top that, other music was being piped in which added to the frustration of not being able to hear the jazz group.
Such a cool restaurant! Really great drinks and an overall amazing vibe!
Overall we had a good experience at Tanner Smith's. The decor and general atmosphere are a lot of fun, and the service was very good. We were there on a Saturday, and there was live music, which was fun as well. Unfortunately, it was very noisy to the point of being unable to hold a conversation. I had the Burrata Cheese Salad with steak. It was good, but the steak was very rare, rather than the medium rare I'd requested. My dining companion had the Brussels Sprouts Hash and loved it. The carrot cake was excellent as well. I would definitely go back, but probably with a group rather than a one on one situation.
What a wonderful place, one of my favorite in NYC. Great service, they all help each other out so the customers are happy. They didn’t rush us. Food was excellent!!
Had a delicious brunch here and had a wonderful time. They had live jazz music playing up front and we sat in the very back, which was perfect for the noise level. The food was unique and so tasty!
4 of us went on a Sunday for brunch. Food and drinks were great. Service was a little slow but our server was working hard. He had tables scattered all over the place. There was live music that played jazz and blues and they were awesome. Definitely get reservations for better seating. We will be back.
We were there at lunch so undoubtedly a different experience when the joint is jumping. Service friendly but food took longer than anticipated. Fine for lunch.
Good food but I thought the brunch cocktails we're overpriced.
It was my friend’s birthday. We came on Sunday for breakfast brunch and jazz. Everything was lovely: yammy food, great music... I just wish they had gluten-free, dairy-free dessert, so we could sing her a happy birthday song. It would definitely make our experience that much more special.
We stopped in for drinks and had some apps...Food/cost/value was just ok. It was close to our hotel and would visit again but wouldn't go out of my way to go back.
Nice experience. Good brunch choices with live jazz. Would definitely go here again.
Interesting decor - speakeasy style and lots of little knick knacks, if you like that stuff. They had a live jazz band (Sunday brunch) which was nice, though they were in the very front and seating was primarily in a back room. Brunch food was mediocre - nothing special (grilled cheese sandwich and caramelized pear salad w/ shrimp). Service was lacking. Waitress was hard to flag down after initially sent away when we weren't immediately ready to order. And didn't show up again until we flagged her down for our check at the end of our meal.
Great ambiance, live music , attentive service ... However, we went there for lunch and no one was particularly happy with the food . Blunt and no imagination. While this is first and foremost a bar and a cool place to meet it is let down by the food . There are plenty of great gastropubs out there that are way better .... time to rethink their menu and dining options ....
The only place we go for brunch in the city. We love the jazz band, food and they have the best cocktails. If you like jazz then make sure to request to be near the band. We have been there multiple times and each time is better than the last!
Cool ambience. Lots of old saloon decorating touches. There was live music in the front of the restaurant. Although the music was terrific, I was so glad that we were seated in the back, so that we could have a conversation without screaming. We arrived about noon for brunch and the place was pretty quiet, But by one it had filled up. The brunch menu is somewhat limited. Great if you are in the mood for eggs. But if you're not a fan, the other choices were very limited.
Most awesome place. Weekend brunch is great. Live jazz music by the bar/front area. Sit at the bar and enjoy. Bartenders are the best. Niels is AMAZING! Best bartender. From Ireland. great guy.
Great spot overall! Loved the decor and the food was good too.
Great tavern type restaurant with a great vibe and great food!
For the Theater District good value for the money. A little kitschy, but decent overall.
Tanner Smith has a super-friendly staff and fresh, delicious food in a festive atmosphere.Options are plentiful, jazz on Sundays is great to listen to and drinks are great. Special shout out to Terry, our wonderful host and Ashling and Anna. They give us a special, warm Irish welcome every time we come. So rare to find a homey atmosphere like this in our fare city.
Great jazz brunch. Good food and drinks. Tara O'Grady and her band were fantastic.
Amazing spot and awesome food!
This may be my new favorite bar in the city.
Fun place for a drink in the the theater district with a nice brunch menu and entertainment on Sunday.
Wonderful atmosphere. Drink menu is amazing. Can’t wait to go back.
