The food menu includes beer pairings. It's definitely centered around the beer here! If you have a group and not everyone drinks beer, they also have wine and cocktails. This place was great for happy hour and we felt like we got a great value. We noticed that the happy hour oysters were much larger than the full priced oysters, so if you are particular about oysters, don't order them on happy hour. It does get a bit noisy as the bar is located in an atrium with other restaurants, so expect an energetic environment.
The Service was GREAT. Alex is a Rock Star. Food is average. Nothing bad, but certainly not great.
Good food, excellent service, and great atmosphere located by pike place market.
From what we understand, the restaurant was understaffed the evening we went, and we unfortunately had to wait so long to be served our food that we cancelled our order and left. We arrived with over an hour to spare for dinner, and had ordered oysters, a salad, a raw tuna dish, black cod over greens, and two rounds of drinks. We received the drinks and oysters, but after nearly an hour, none of the other dishes had arrived, and we had to leave. We were surprised, as the only dish that required cooking with heat was the black cod, so the others should have merely needed to be plated.
This was a fun evening spot, small but quite comfortable! We had the Cheese Curds, Burger, and Fish and Chips and they were all wonderful. A great place for some comfort food!
Delightful. Food preparation seemed very careful and menu imaginative but not bizarre. Service top-notch; ambience casual and fun. Highly recommended.
We are regular visitors to Tankard & Tun. Great spot with a nice local vibe.
Very clearly wanted us to leave - but no explanation, just constantly asking if we had finished before we had.
Average food at best! Food not reflective of the price.
We had great service here. The beers were really good, but the food so so.
Octopus and pork belly starter was a highlight.
Food was ok, but delivered barely warm. Service was slow because there was a large party ahead of us...or so we were told. Small portions. Pub like environment. 20% mandatory service fee wasn't worth it. Not going back.
All dishes were cold (seafood soup, fish & chips, pork/polenta) and felt that they all came from the freezer and were quickly heated up. Had to send back the fish and chips which, were cold/mushy in the middle. Straight up inedible. I think this is the first time in my life I've ever sent anything back. The restaurant was dead on a Friday night, which should have been a dead giveaway for us. It seemed as though the staff was very used to dishes being sent back. Super odd experience and would never go back again. Shame, the place is adorable and convenient. Save your $$ and go to the other 100 amazing seafood restaurants within that area. This place was crap.
Went there for lunch with my husband. Shared 2 appetizers on the 'sharing' menu - the octopus and the mussels. Both were super tasty and we really enjoyed them - but we weren't full so decided to also share a main course of fish and chips which was also great. Fresh, well cooked and tasty. All the food was lovely, not huge portions though. The beer was great too. Made the mistake of ordering a large one when really you want to get a small then try a different small. Overall, really nice lunch, would go back.
A great, local place. I'm always glad to be there for lunch or dinner.
Great, attentive service. Delicious food. So kind that they gave a birthday dessert.
Tables are close together and the room is small making for a loud noise level. A large selection of brews, but all ales. French fries were wimpy n thr fish and chips, but fish was perfectly fried and the portion large. Convenient to Pike Place Market.
Best oysters in Seattle, perfect burger. You can't eat better anywhere in Seattle.
Went here with my parents from out of town, and it was a good experience.
Food was good but nothing that blew up my skirt. Portions were a bit on the small side for the price. My drink had little to no ice in int. Tables small for 2 adults.
Service was horrendous and the food was under seasoned and were not what was described in the menu. The only thing that place has going for is the fact that they're of Pike Place Brewing.
I am so sorry to be writing this review. Anyone, who follows my reviews knows I try to focus on the positive. This was the first time in my life, that I walked out on a restaurant. Yet, I would still recommend it after a 2 star review. Why?
Because we were so pleasantly greeted and seated. We were so excited to have the experience of pairing beers with our food choices. Then we met our waiter. I will leave his name off of here. He never told us it, but the hostess was kind enough to tell us who wood be serving us. However, he never did so. It was clear, he was struggling with several tables. He could not seem less interested in serving us. Mangers were being called out over issues. He always seemed like he needed to be somewhere else, other than our table. He then asked, about our order, which was not even close to what we ordered. We reminded him again of what we were interested in.
He offered no suggestions. He made zero effort. We kept asking for water, but it never came. We ordered an appetizer and drinks. They never came after 10 plus minutes of waiting, we simply got up an left, as he was nowhere to be found.
We felt terrible as the host and hostess were so wonderful and existed when we walked in. We could have complained, but knew the table behind us were already waiting of the manager. We wanted to tell the staff when we left, but decided we just wanted to leave.
We were celebrating a special and somber, occasion, and this was NOT how we wanted things to go. We found another restaurant that treated us with dignity and quality service. Would I try Tankard & Tun again? Most likely yes - but I hope to get a different server who cares about the customers and isn't in such a rush to provide zero service.
Very good, creative cuisine. Server Jack was polite and knowledgeable.
