So wonderful and so sad - last night of Tanino’s storied 20 run in Westwood!
the service is always superb and the food is good, sometimes very good. Having come back from a trip to Sicily, I can say that the food could be better but 4000 miles is a long way to travel for off the charts pasta.
The food and service were excellent. We would definitely eat there again.
Minestrone soup made with fresh vegetables, spinach tortellini with pumpkin and sage was delicious. Service was exemplary. Each of our party was pleased with his or her course.
Tanino is the best restaurant in Westwood. The service is attentive and charming. There are always good specials. Mainstays on the menu are consistently good, although there are specials that vary through the season.
In for an early dinner before going to the Geffen. Great pre-theatre location. Quiet and friendly staff. My husband loved his dish (the carbonara) mine was just okay (the pomodoro). Yes, we would go there again, but I’d order something different ;)
We enjoyed delicious appetizers and three different entrees. Finished the meal with gelato. All good!
We went for my graduation And Melanie made sure that all the details were taken care of. We were set up as a party of 13 in the back room our waiter was extraordinary there was real attention to detail all the food came out at the same time the food is exquisite and it really made the night special
Great ambience and great service. Easy valet parking.
Service was excellent. Classic decor. Fun restaurant!
We had a bumpy start with the manager seating a 6’3 football player into a booth for a small child. The waiter MATT (Boston guy) was great and made the rest of a romantic Evening better and the food was done wonderfully.
Note: See photo with my sweetheart by herself (look behind her and the small booth seat they wanted me to sit in initially and the booth we latter had was the way it should have been.
The restaurant is nicely decorated and is beautiful. The food was good, and our waiter was friendly. I do feel it was overpriced for what we received. We asked for bottled water, and the waiter poured each of us a glass, (There were 2 of us) and did not leave the bottle on our table, and we never had anymore water. We didn't ask for more, as we thought maybe we were not being charged for water. When the bill arrived, we were charged $7.00 for our water. When I have ordered bottled water in the past, the water bottle is always placed on the table, as we bought it. To be charged that amount for 2 8 oz glasses of water does not feel fair. One shot of espresso is $4, and my pasta was $29. (Just to give an idea of what the prices are like.)
Very high quality and delicious food. Prices for pasta dishes very reasonable. Some other prices were on the high side. Service was impeccable.
Nice menu with a variety of dishes. The green lasagna special was particularly well prepared. And they'll put together dishes if there's something you want. We had them prepare a gluten-free pasta with clams, mussels and shrimp in white (wine) sauce. Delicious. Very good service, too.
Outstanding food and service; lovely atmosphere. Bravo!
We had the frutti di mare, lamb and linguini with clams.Every dish was excellent as usual and Alex our waiter was attentive. My favorite Italian restaurant!
Our family of seven went to Tanino’s for Mother’s Day. I’ve had mixed experiences at this restaurant, but we had what everyone agreed was a perfect meal - the service was impeccable and the food delicious, particularly the specials.
It is hard to believe this is a Drago restaurant. The restaurant is beautiful. The food was awful. The pasta bolognese - small portions, pasta was cooked to the point of mush, hardly any sauce, and there was hardly any meat in the sauce. The waitstaff was more interested in hanging out at the bar chatting than providing service. Bottom line - don’t bother going.
Unusual eggplant rolled around spaghetti dish which I enjoyed very much. We will go back again.
Absolutely love this place!!! Mushroom soup, cappalini ala checca, branzino!!! Mmmmm!!!
wonderful food, great service, all in the heart of westwood. We have eaten there many times and it has always been a wonderful experience.
Great neighborhood Drago Italian with historic interiors and friendly service.
Walk to the Geffen for a perfect LA evening.
I asked for a glass of Savignon Blanc and it was disgusting but the waiter did take it away and I was not charged
Food ( branzino fish) was overly cooked, blended.
Service ok, but seemed like they were rushing to close ( (9:39?) becouse they had only 4 tables with people...
never asked how was the food.
Last time went there the chef / owner was there, and what a difference in the food preparation....
Seems like it wasn’t a good day to eat there.
We've been to Tanino many years ago and decided to try it again with some friends. We ordered a salad and soup to start. My husband's salad dressing soaked the salad. My vegetable soup was quite salty. We both ordered branzino, which had a funny aftertaste. Though the food was disappointing, the ambiance and the service was excellent.
The ambiance made you feel like you’re in Italy- very historic and pretty restaurant. The calamari was my favorite part of the meal, and the truffle ravioli was delicious- very rich. The service could have been a bit more attentive, but overall it was a positive experience.
Dinner before theatre.
Not what it used to be.....uninspired....just going through the motions.
I wish I had learned about this restaurant earlier since we have been going to the area to meet our son, a senior at UCLA, in the past three years and we were always looking for a nice Italian restaurant nearby. Tanino was the best among the dozens of restaurants we have visited. The pasta I had was perfectly cooked and the calamari was light and tasty. We are definitely coming back.
Superb. Lovely staff, food, ambiance. A top notch establishment much needed and appreciated in Westworld.
Excellent food and service
Amazing food. Great location. Fantastic wait staff. So friendly and accommodating. Very curious that the hostess is rude and indifferent to her job. Certainly doesn’t make you feel welcome.
We visited Tanino on a night when Westwood had a power outage. We had an early reservation because of a Geffen Playhouse event. When we arrived we were told the kitchen had just opened and service would be delayed because of the outage. Within the hour though, the staff was ready to seat us and we had a marvelous dinner. We highly recommend Tanino.
We absolutely loved the location and the food. Table of 6 early business dinner. Service was friendly, but forgot drink order and had to ask multiple times for more water and to take empty plates.
Overall food was AMAZING!!!
Lovely classic Italian restaurant in the heart of Westwood. An absolute must before the theater
Tanino Ristorante is a great Italian restaurant.
I have never been disappointed. Service, food, ambiance Northern Italian. Think Firenze. Pumpkin tortellini in a cream sage sauce perfection risotto with porcini mushrooms excellent. Baked spagetti with eggplant amazing. Have to stop here!! Go.:))))
The food was subpar. But the service of the wait staff and hostess was excellent!
Really good but everyone who was in there was 50+ years old
