Tango Ratings and Reviews
We had not been to Tango in a while and were delighted with our Valentine's Day date choice. The menu was lovely and we are eager to come back and get re-acquainted with the rest of the regular menu. I love Spanish tapas and I remember they have some really good ones.
Unfortunately, this restaurant charges an automatic 20% service charge. I really abhor this practice. A 20% tip is reserved for outstanding service. A restaurant should not demand it. Just raise the prices of your food if you need more money and let the customer retain the ability to tip as they deem appropriate. It incentivizes good service.
We went before seeing a show down the block at the Paramount as did many of the other patrons. Kitchen staff gets a round of applause for getting everyone out in time. Bacon wrapped dates are a favorite as were the shrimp, meatballs, and lamb chops. Wish we had had time to try a paella. Next time when we don't have a time constraint. The rich chocolate dessert we shared was a fitting conclusion to a tasty, well seasoned sampling of dishes.
Celebrated my husband's birthday in the private room with a group of 14. I think the room must've been sound proof because we were quite loud and couldn't be heard outside the room! (The other patrons must have been happy) Food was great and perfect for a large group just ordering tapas and sharing them. The Diablo desert was amazing!
It's been quite a while since the last time I had gone to Tango, over a decade. Doing a little research, reading about the large leather bound menus, I realize that it had to have been owned by the original owner. Regardless, this visit definitely had a huge impact. My friends and I went for a pre-theater early dinner. Everything we had was delicious, and the staff really accommodated our needs. We enjoyed a great meal, tasting many amazing dishes, spending time with friends, and we got to the show without rushing.
Thank you to the chef, the host and our patient waitress.
Absolutely delicious tapas and paella that is to die for...plus an excellent house sangria among a very notable wine list. This is my go-to fancy birthday place; great for pairs and small groups or larger ones (make a reservation well in advance). Tango is amazing!
The service was timely but not overly present, in general. Good service. Most of the food was very, very good indeed. This was especially true of the (very fresh) mussels, the mushrooms, the salad with shredded duck, the papas. The only shortcoming, and it was consistent, is that the kitchen doesn't toast/grill their bread enough. Thus the pan was soggy, the topping quite cold. The desserts were excellent.
The food just wasn’t that good. Steak tasted like old grease. The vegetarian paella was bland and super dry, like zero sauce or flavor left in the pan. I would suggest looking up Toro, a tapas restaurant in Boston MA. That is what you should emulate... The service was amazing, and the mulled sangria was tasty. That’s about it.
It had been a while since I visited Tango.
I was able to get a reservation without issue. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive, but had a few missed. Received our tea lukewarm. One of the dishes we ordered was mussels since my friend doesn't eat meat, but it happened to have pork in it as well. Other than that the rest of the food was good.
I'd recommend this place for happy hour. Good selection and even better prices.
For the price we paid for the tapas, I was expecting a much more classy, clean, and romantic evening. It felt like a standard restaurant with overpriced items.
Some dishes were good and others not so much. I would recommend the prefixed menu instead of individual tapas.
