Tango & Malbec Ratings and Reviews
Great service, good food and nice atmosphere. Tango dancing show that you can participate in on Saturday evening and some Wednesday’s. Also a patio for outdoor dining, but jut a fenced in cement patio, needs some character. Food was excellent. The bone in porterhouse for 2 was delicious, but pricy. Overall a good experience, but there are better steak houses to choose from, but the location, service and atmosphere make it a good choice.
The hostess was very accommodating. We told her that we knew the band and she made an extra effort to seat us close to the music. The food was very good. Service was a bit slow but it was New Year’s Eve and the restaurant was busy so understandable. Excellent dessert!
While the service was great the food was very poor. We ordered the Tomahawk Steak which came with a side of mashed potatoes and asparagus. We added an additional side of mac and cheese. The steak and sides were delivered to our table cold as ice. It was literally like they had pulled the sides out of the refrigerator. The waiter told us he could remake our meal but that it would take additional time to re-prepare the steak. Instead, we ask to have the chief cook us a 10 oz filet and we would share. The new steak was delivered overcooked and with no new side of mac and cheese. The old, now cold mac and cheese was left on the table for us to eat with the new steak.
We watched the chief and kitchen staff look over at our table in disgust the entire time they had to re-make our dinner. When we received the bill they had taken off the first steak, however, charged us for the other steak.
After paying our bill we walked up to the bar to enjoy a glass of champagne while waiting for our This was probably the worse dinner experience we have encountered in Houston ever!driver. The bartender ignored us for the first 10 min and then came over with a major attitude. There were a total of 5 people in bar and 3 tables total in the restaurant.
It was not a bad experience but don't think for the price we would return. New York Strip and Sea Bass were both bland. Caprese Autentica was an excellent appetizer. Ensalada de Popeye a very good salad. Wait staff was very attentive, very friendly. Wine list was good. A bit noisy.
Appetizers were good. Main course i ordered sea bass that smelled very fishy and first bite had an ammonia aftertaste, this was returned for fear of good poisoning.
My sister had buffalo steak that had more fat than steak and had no flavor (seasoning) and actually tasted like liver.
For the cost our meal was horrible and this place was overrated.
Was in town for a special occasion and was really looking forward to this dinner. Very disappointed!
The menu is varied and has a good variety of options to go with. I chose the 40oz. Porterhouse. Normally I wouldn't go with such a large cut, but I wanted that delicious filet for the evening and the sirloin to go. Both were absolutely yummy. The rustic potato side dish was delicious as well. My wife and children were very pleased with their orders. I am looking forward to returning to this fine establishment.
A bit on the pricey side for the quality of the food you get, but still very enjoyable and worth a trip. The filet for two was very tender, but needed to be seasoned more. It lacked the great taste that you find at most high end steak houses. The Akaushi beef was very nice, but not sure its worth the extra price. Desserts were fantastic...especially the 4 Leches cake.
This place is fun. There were two highly entertaining tango demonstrations while we were there. Service was highly attentive. We had the dry aged tomahawk steak for two, which is a cut of beef ribeye with about six inches of extra rib bone for presentation purposes (and for your dog). This steak was one of the best ribeyes I have ever had. The waiter presented the steak by slicing it into strips at the table and laying out the strips over the bone. Naturally we drank Malbec, ordered by the glass on the recommendation of the waiter. The wine was full bodied and matched the steak perfectly. We are going back to Tango & Malbec, which will now be part of our regular restaurant rotation. This is the place for a really nice dinner, much more fun and interesting than the standard steakhouse.
Wonderful meal and experience. Tango & Malbec uses an indirect heat to cook their steaks, and the results are outstanding. My steak was perfect. My wife had seafood skewers which were also delicious. We also enjoyed the tango show. The tables are spread out nicely. The service was also excellent. They kept our water glasses full all night. They also have a nice wine list if you are a fan of Argentine wines.
As a native-born Argentine I appreciate the opportunity to partake in the familiar cuisine. Beef was excellent, cooked "a punto," as were the empanadas and chorizos -- staples of an Argentine meal. The creme brulee was pleasing, and they added a dollop of dulce de leche upon request. I didn't think to order flan. Didn't sample the parrillada, but the parrilla, visible from the dining room, looked impressive. The owners are Argentine and Uruguayan, so they know how to run an Argentine restaurant. The only imported Uruguayan beef is the bife de lomo. The rest is U.S. grain-fed beef graded Prime.
This was my fifth visit to Tango and Malbec and was an opportunity to share this restaurant with six co-workers, five who had not had the pleasure of dining here before. While steak is the meal of choice, several were please that there were also seafood and poultry, each dish was consumed completely. And the desserts - just excellent if you leave some room for them.
I am frequent Tango & Malbec semi regularly and always enjoy their service, drinks, and food - in that order. This was my first visit for brunch, thanks to Groupon. The offer was good, however the feature selections were somewhat limiting compared to the full brunch menu. For that reason, I ordered from the full menu instead. Other than that, another great experience at T&M!
If you like good meats, steak, chops, etc, this South American style restaurant is great. It is very high quality food, great service, decent price for the level of quality. I always visit here when I'm in town. I also like to sit on the patio and enjoy a cigar from the bar to finish things off.
The service was deplorable. The restaurant was not busy but was a long wait to place our order. The waiter was no attentive nor personable. The steak ordered was not cooked in the requested temperature and the food was not flavorable. I did enjoy the chimmichurri sauce and chips however. I will not return to this establishment.
Was not impressed at all...the food was OK at best. The wait staff was not very friendly to say the least. The Tango was mildly entertaining...if not for the Tango entertainment, then the entire experience would have been less than stellar to say the least.
Disappointed as my wife and I were in Houston for a quick trip (stayed Friday through Sunday evening) and we wasted a meal at this place.
