Tamayo Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
I took a group of friends for my 25th birthday, and it was great. I was the only one who had previously been to Tamayo, but everyone walked away LOVING the place. Our waiter was great: very knowledgeable, entertaining, and very attentive - I wish I remembered his name, although I attribute that to the amazing margaritas ;)
I received an email promotion stating a free margarita with lunch entree. Waitress acted like she wasn’t aware of the promotion. We shared the email then were charged for our margaritas. Manager came an suggested that we should have printed the promotional email. Then agreed to honor it. Bad service!
Between the amazing food and wonderful service, we will definitely be returning. The pork belly tacos were so delicious. And our service was great. He offered gre at recommendations, catered to my food allergies well, and made celebrating a new job extra special.
We always enjoy the food, drinks, and service at Tamayo. We began with happy hour margaritas and refreshing Sandia Tajin , and the tasty mushroom flatbread. For dinner, four of us shared the tuna tartare guacamole and queso fundido. The portions were generous and we could have stopped there. For entrees, the salmon in mole sauce with butternut squash was delectable, and the mahi tacos had just the right amount of heat. Service was fast, friendly, and attentive.
Tamayo was wonderful for a birthday celebration before the theater. The food was fantastic (get the bacon guac) and the service exquisite. The special birthday dessert treat was such fun! Drinks before and after the meal hit the spot. Great place to people watch, too. We highly recommend it.
We usually love Tamayo but last night the food showed up cold. I should have sent it back but hate eating at different times than my wife’s course. I had the special enchiladas made of short ribs. The flavor was good but the cold dish was a problem. Spent the night with an upset stomach from it, not good.
A friend recommended we go to Tamayo prior to a concert at Pepsi Center since it is so close and she mentioned a few of her favorite plates that they served and it sounded really special. We were all looking forward to it.
As it turned out, the menu had changed and none of the appetizers or entrees that she talked about were offered. Instead we found the menu very plain and overpriced for what you get.
My fish tacos were tasty. My friend had steak/shrimp skewers which were primarily sausage, a meat she didn’t know was included and she disliked. It’s a very loud restaurant if you dine at prime time. Our waiter, Aldo was excellent and very kind taking a special interest in providing preservative free foods to accommodate my husband’s dietary needs which he enjoyed. This was my 4th dining experience at Tamayo with my past 3 visits consistent with this one.
We've been here several times in the past but after this visit, less likely to return. Just like his other restaurant (Zengo), the owner changed the menu, which eliminated many of the dishes we preferred. We ordered a Tampiquena dish (steak) and the first time the whole plate of food was cold. Second time it was hot but the steak lacked any flavor. The potato side was the best part of the meal. I did enjoy the mushroom flatbread and Sangria. Service was very good; the manager took care of the problem. I understand mixing up the menus at restaurants but when they take off favorites its a disappointment. We drove in from Fort Collins area with out of town guests, they were not wowed like we were in the past.
