The food was fantastic! The fish special was perfectly prepared. We also loved the bread and sauce served at the table and the baklava was to die for! We will be back!
Great place. Friendly wait staff and terrific food.
We had a wonderful dinner at Talullah's. The food was even better than the last time we ate there. Cocktails were great, especially the bourbon sour cherry drink. Fresh bread with a yummy pepper spread was wonderful. We had 3 mezzas, and 2 main course dishes for three people. Everything was fresh and the sauces were superb.
The food was absolutely delicious and the service was attentive and friendly.
Wonderful food - definitely try it out!
Great selection. Tasty food. Attentive service. Definitely going back. Nice ambiance
We loved the variety of choices. Our server was fantastic! We had people at the table age 10 to age 77 and everyone was happy.
Wonderful food, especially if you’re looking for Middle Eastern food with many delicious lamb dishes. Go on the weekend and try the dishes they only serve then. They could use more servers, as the place is very popular.
We learned just a week ahead of time that friends from Vermont were going to be visiting us in North Carolina and wanted to take s out to dinner -- on Valentines' Day! A brief scramble ensued as I sought a nice restaurant that still had a table available, and was pleased that Talulla's could accommodate us, albeit at a very early 5:30. All good, and we were even able to score a coveted, and usually reserved, window table.
On the other hand, two issues reduced our level of enjoyment. First, they were only serving from a very, very reduced menu, so many of their more popular (and delicious) dishes were not available. Although the offerings that evening were decent, they were fairly basic for anyone who has enjoyed eastern Mediterranean food for years. Since this fact was not mentioned on their website, or in the two phone conversations I had with the staff to confirm the arrangements, this was unexpected and unappreciated. Second, though less surprising, was that they were constantly full all evening, making the service quite hit or miss. My advice is to go on a normal evening, not a holiday.
Valentine’s Day had a set menu and was very busy. We had a large table as well. The food was decent but our plates were not as complete as we felt they should be.
Best Turkish food in the triangle, great ambiance, and so much flavor!!
Food was excellent but our server was extremely slow and spent much of his time talking to people at other tables. He did not seem concerned to take our order, bring our food, and even take our dessert order. I asked for dessert menus, which he did bring, but he took so long to come back to our table that we decided to skip dessert. I'm wondering if he didn't care because we were 5 people so he knew he would get the 18% anyway. I also did not think a mandatory tip should start with 5 people. Most restaurants start with a larger number.
We’d never eaten Turkish food before but we were feeling adventurous. All four of us raves about the really delicious food and the impeccable service.
It I s always an amazing experience at talulla’s. The food is delicious, staff is very accommodating, and the atmosphere is very pleasant. This is our go to restaurant when we are in Chapel Hill and looking for an enjoyable evening out. We’ve been many times and it never disappoints.
Fabulous food, ambience, menu, cocktails. Would have been perfect with friendlier lead team person -- although rest of service team great.
Interesting and delicious food. A beautiful space with hanging carpets, soft lighting. Reasonable prices.
Good service, friendly staff, great food, reasonable prices.
good food, good atmosphere for a "girls night out"...we will return.
Went for Triangle Restaurant Week. At the time of booking the website said they were offering a $15 lunch special that was taken down before restaurant week started: luckily, the restaurant was accommodating and offered the special anyway. The food was very good, especially the marinated lamb skewer, and the stuffed grape leaves were delicious— seasoned with a spice mixture involving cinnamon that made them almost sweet. I’d never had them done that way before, and it was a wonderful surprise.
Very busy night, and servers were rushing but the food was great. Meze platter outstanding, mousaka like grandmother used to make, and Iskander tender and juicy.
Love this place and the vibe.
Extraordinary food. Very authentic. Service was exceptional as always. Highly recommend this to anyone who loves Turkish food
We took advantage of visiting Tallula's during Restaurant Week and what an amazing meal we had and for only $25 for 3 courses. I am sure it is worth the full price since the food was great. First, the bread, which is oftentimes an after thought for restaurants, came to table baked to perfection with herbs and
the consistency of focaccia. Instead of the usual olive oil or butter accompaniment we were served a wonderful highly Morroccan spiced sauce for dipping. Next, came Mücver- Fritters made from zucchini, feta, eggs, scallions, dill, parsley and served over a housemade garlic-infused yogurt sauce. These two items could have been an entire meal for me. My companion's entree, Balık Böreği - Gulf Coast Tilapia wrapped in phyllo dough and baked in a stone oven, served over sautéed baby spinach, topped with pine nuts and red wine sauce did not disappoint with fish that was not overcooked and perfectly spiced. My entree was Hünkar Beğendi (Sultan's Delight)- A classic Ottoman dish served with a choice of cubed sirloin beef or hormone free chicken over a creamy smoked eggplant sauce. I chose chicken and the marriage of flavors was amazing. Finally, dessert arrived. Kazan Dibi- Caramelized upside down milk pudding served in layers was light enough to compliment the dinner. We also had the baklava. I have been to the Middle East and the food a Talulla's was just as I experienced in that part of the world. I highly recommend this beautiful restaurant with service that matches the exceptional food.
the bass fish is wonderful, also the bread amazing.
We had a lovely evening celebrating my sister-in-law's birthday. It's a quirky, earthy setting--not too fussy and a good fit for the food. The waiter was great--steering us towards some of his Turkish favorites, and he even convinced my picky-eater daughter to branch out and try some new things. :)
Home to my favorite meal in Chapel Hill (Yogurtu Kebablar). It’s truly amazing. The bread is also fantastic and I haven’t had a bad appetizer yet.
Fabulous, authentic food, beautiful atmosphere... helpful and professional waitstaff. Great time- my favorite in Chapel Hill💥
A unique spot with a great menu full of tasty options
A wonderful evening at Tallulah's! The food was wonderful as usual.
Found Talulla's after searching for vegetarian options when we visited Chapel Hill and were very pleased with those options. Don't be thrown off by the name which sounds - to my ears at least - like it would be a soul food/southern restaurant (honestly, I'd have scrolled past had it not come up in my search). This place serves really good and well executed Turkish fare. We had hummus two ways (I'll be adding "warm" to our options at home) and some really nice Turkish takes on baba gannoush, tzatziki as part of a cold mezze sampler and spanikopita (sorry...I'm more familiar with the Greek versions and names. The server (very pleasant and helpful) also brought a sauce to the table that was worth licking the bowl so as not to waste a drop. Lemon/olive oil/ pureed garlic and red peppers. I asked what it was called and was told it doesn't have a name...just something the chef concocted. We finished with a caramelized milk pudding - think flan but more assertive caramel - and Turkish coffee. A really good meal in Chapel Hill.
food , service and ambiance were average, staff is friendly and can be more helpful / patient in explaining dishes.
All around excellent!! Has dishes I’ve never seen at other Turkish restaurants around the country.
The food was perfectly seasoned. The décor is a real treat.
This was our anniversary dinner. All the food was exquisite and flavorful!
Really great example of Eastern European and Middle Eastern food.
The food was very good, but our server kept pressuring us to order more and more - even though we had not finished the appetizers. We felt rushed, and we like to chew our food, not swallow it whole. Otherwise, ok experience with a nice ambiance.
Reliably very good food. Broad choice but their lamb is my preference. Excellent bread. Good and reasonably priced wine selection. Excellent service. It is my local favorite place and I am yet to be disappointed. Would recommend for any occasion.
Took the extended family here for night before Thanksgiving and it was wonderful. Also good for date nights :)
The salad with sumac was one of the best salads my mom and I have ever eaten and we both said so simultaneously after the first bite. The fritters with zucchini were also phenomenal, and all four of us loved the lamb we ordered, whether grilled or roasted. Thank you!!
