About Talulla's

When you walk through the shadowed glass doors of Talulla's, an instant transformation begins to occur. Your mind and body begin to relax. Your ears pick up on the eclectic mix of music. Your eyes wonder around the walls, decorated in Turkish rugs; then the ceilings, scattered with warm, unique lighting pieces; then the floors... the dark, hardwood floors; and finally, across the plush seating areas, disguised by cushions and pillows and fabric leisurely draped around the frames.

I made a reservation on Open Table and when we arrived They had our reservation, but didn’t have our table set up. They scrambled to find a table for 2 for us. The service was marginal, slow and our waiter was less than attentive, giving us minimal attention. The food was good and well prepared. The portions were small for the price. The noise level was high and it wold be difficult if you were hearing impaired.

The food was amazing! The price is a little high for the portion. Either give bigger portions or lower the price. I would, however, be a return customer.

We booked a table for nine for a business meal and had a great time. The server was very knowledgeable and helpful. She recommended a sample platter of cold mezas and put together a platter of warm mezas as well that were excellent. I had the Mediterranean sea bass fish special which was light, flaky with a wonderful smoky quality. Very flavorful. I had a flan-like desert that was very good, but others ordered a chocolate mousse that they said was divine. The Turkish coffee came in ornate little brass enclosed cups with lids and seemed authentic, though it was only the second time I had Turkish coffee, so I'm not the best judge. Overall, we had a very enjoyable meal and could just focus on enjoying our companions.

Great atmosphere. We made a reservation and got to sit in one of the "window" seats. Good menu selection, especially for vegetarians, but plenty of options for omnivores too. The Turkish coffee and desserts are a must try.

Yet another excellent was had at Talullas. The musakka was very well prepared. The bread and red pepper is always a great way to start a meal.

I have heard great things about Talulla’s from several friends. We went for dinner before a play. We were impressed. We told the server we had limited time and she stayed mindful of that during our service. We are all unfamiliar with traditional Turkish food. She was helpful in describing the dishes to us. We enjoyed both the Turkish apricot juice and the Turkish tart cherry juice. We tried a variety of menu items. Three appetizers and two entrees between the three of us. Everything was made fresh and delicious. The bread was served warm with a nice olive oil & tomato dipping sauce. We ended up with enough to take home for lunch the next day.

The curtained alcoves with tables and benches provide a cozy, intimate dining space for a special evening. The decor evokes Old World Turkey, with rugs and tapestries and lanterns in rich colors, great for a romantic evening or respite from the pressures of contemporary life. The dishes are nourishing and delicious, with organic and locally-sourced ingredients, and with a wonderful array of vegetarian options. The desserts are unique and wonderful; I recommend the Kunefe, baked with Hatay cheese and mulberry extract. Our server was exceptionally helpful.

We took our college-aged grandson to the restaurant and shared several appetizers and two main dishes. We all agreed that every bite was delicious! I have some dietary restrictions, and the server dealt with those without any difficulty and was quite helpful. The atmosphere is conducive to conversation. We'll return and try more dishes!

I hadn't eaten at Talullah's in years and didn't like it then, so when a friend recommended it I was hesitant. I am so glad we went! There is a new owner since then and the food was incredible. It's always been a beautiful place, but now it is a wonderful dining experience as well.

Love Talulah's, every time. We are Turkish, and this is really authentic and delicious. Our friends always love it, too. Requesting one of the two window-nook tables makes for a really intimate evening.

A place with distinctive ambiance, quiet, and quality. Oriental carpets grace the wall. Dishes are supreme. Service is both friendly and articulate, should you be new to Turkish food. And finally, the drinks complete the picture of excellence.

Tallulah’s is a wonderful Turkish restaurant. Food is tasty, service is good, bread is delicious. Only negative was the mussakah which was runny and disappointing even though flavor was fine. Salmon was excellent as were the appetizers. A definite “very good” on the evaluation scale. Service also was responsive and customer oriented.

Totally off the hook to coin a Food Network chef! Reasonably priced but so, so quality focused that I thought I was in Morocco or Algiers.

Talullas features an excellent offering of wonderful Turkish dishes across a wide spectrum of choices. The branzino, Guvec and Yoğurtlu Kebablar were standouts for us. Shared dessert was Kunefe. Worth a dinner with good friends, and it's likely you'll be back there soon.

I held my wife's birthday here recently. Food was slow (it was a large group) but very good. Cocktails were excellent. It has a slower, European vibe. You won't have a waiter looming over you every five minutes. We had one issue where a dish requested with no cheese came with it (lactose intolerant) but it was easily worked around. The only major complaint is the bathrooms were easily 90+ degrees, otherwise clean & fully stocked. Air conditioning in the restrooms would go a long way.

Phenomenal food, amazing service. This was our wedding anniversary dinner, and we were seated in the 'Sultan's Corner' - very cool, unique dining experience. I cannot say enough about the friendly, attentive (but not smothering) service and the bold (but not overly spicy or in your face) flavor of the dishes we had. Love this place.

Talullah's has been around for many years and has maintained the quality of food and service over those years. The menu is typical Turkish and provides a good introduction to that cuisine. If you have a choice, come on Friday or Saturday when they serve Yogurtlu and Iskender kebabs, slices of lamb cut from a gyro spit.

The wait staff was good. The food was great. We had the sample plate with different sauces - it was all very tasty. My lentil soup was very good. I had the special lamb shank - it was excellent with eggplant sauce on the side and the portion was large. My wife had the pizza which she enjoyed. It was a very good restaurant experience.

We've always had a good meal at Talullas, but this time the chef seemed to have an especially good night. We brought friends in town from NYC who are gluten free and vegetarian and somewhat spoiled by the great restaurant scene in The City. They were quite pleased and delighted with their meal. They had no problem finding very tasty vegetarian and piscatarian options on the menu. As always, the ambiance was excellent and conducive to conversation. No yelling over loud music or echoing walls. Talullas would be a wonderful date restaurant as you would be able to actually talk, and ordering from the small plates would allow you to both construct a shared meal of many tasty dishes but also provide a topic of conversation as you each share and compare reactions to the food.

Great for tasty Turkish cuisine in a comfortable atmosphere. (The only reason we graded the service down a notch was because there seemed to be only 1 woman providing service to the entire restaurant. She hustled about, but it was a bit much for 1 person to handle.)

Food is quite tasty at Tallula's and the decor is welcoming as well. Portions are sizeable. We ordered two apps and two entrees; at least one of those we could have skipped.

The downside to me is that noise can be a problem, with the high ceilings and large group tables that line one side of the restaurant. I would suggest asking for seating on the other side of the serving area. There are window tables for parties of 3-4. We were told pointedly that they were not available for 2 people, even though they were unoccupied at the time. There are outside tables, which would be delightful in the spring and fall. In the summer, ah, not so much. Take care to control the noise level and you will find that Tallula's is a satisfying place.
