Talia Cucina Rosticceria
The wait staff was friendly and extremely helpful, the food was unique and delicious! I am looking forward to a return trip.
WE we're very happy with our dinners at Talia this past Mat 11th, 2019. Excellent food and great service we will let people know and try to return their as we get into downtown Pittsburgh. Great date night or going to the Heinz Hall or the Benadium for a show.
Not bad but not great. The famed Porchetta was a huge pile of thinly sliced pork served on a bed of broccolini- tasty but some of the pork was too dry. Crab pasta likewise was okay but there was no discernible chunks of crab, just little threads with a barely discernible crab taste. Service was great. Wine list is totally Italian but no Pinot Grigio and happy hour prices do not apply to the dining room.
Enjoying Talia's current lunch menu (April 2019). It has a little bit of everything, offering a nice variety for lunch without being to heavy or crazy-unique that you have to Google ingredients or totally customize your order to remove 101 things. Plus, very reasonably priced for sit-down lunch. Sandwich big enough to talk half back for later, filling sides, all for a buck or two more than what you'd pay at popular quick service restaurants for soup and salad, or half-sandwich and s/s.
Not from Pittsburgh - visited Talia as part of an overnight stay. I - and the rest of my party - was so impressed! We had a wonderful experience - amazing food, great service, and pleasant ambiance. Feel free to open a location in Downtown Columbus, Ohio!
My Wife and I enjoyed dinner here before attending a Theater production. Food was great. Homemade pasta is incredible . Jaime, Our host, made it a wonderful experience!
Will come back again!
Maybe it's because I'm a native New Yorker, but overall I was disappointed in Talia Cucina. I was in town for a few days and was staying right across the street, so I decided to give it a try. The staff there is fantastic, very friendly and attentive. It's a nice looking place, although I felt the table height didn't work well with the chair height, the table felt a few inches too high to be completely comfortable.
I'm an octopus lover, so started with the grilled octopus. It was just okay, could definitely have used additional seasoning in the form of salt and acid, but more importantly the texture was off. I never understood it when people told me they hate octopus, but now I get it! If they've only ever had it with a texture like I had from Talia, I wouldn't like it either. It was a bit slimy and made it hard to stomach after a few bites.
The ricotta gnocchi entree was really good texturally- the gnocchi were nice and light and the brisket in the sauce fell apart it was so tender! What was really lacking, again, was seasoning. The sauce was very bland and on the sweet side. It really would have benefitted from something as simple as a bit more salt.
Seeing as they have a small menu, I would have thought each item would have been perfected, but the seasoning overall was lacking (P.S.- I'm not a salt-a-holic, I rarely add salt to my foods, just fyi).
The rotisserie pork that they are “know for” was all fat and only a very very small portion was edible
Great bar.. Nice menu, ample choices. Great location downtown.
Everything about our experience was very good. The only minus, and it was a minor one, was our server was a bit TOO enthusiastic at at every opportunity.
My husband and I enjoyed a fabulous dinner at Talia Cucina Rosticceria. The ambience of the restaurant was perfect. The food was prepared with fresh herbs and the seasoning was perfectly balanced. The service was outstanding ! Thank you.
my wife got scallops . very good. I had a strip steak . very average. was supposed to come with mashed sweet potatoes and spinach but it came with asparagus and no potatoes but they finally brought me fingerling potatoes half way through the dinner. bread costs $3. i'd like to try the bar some time for happy hour.
The food was good, different. Would v recommend the spaghetti with cream sauce. Drinks on the small side for the price. Server was attentive.
First time dining at Talia. Food and service was good but the value factor was missing. We found the restaurant was a little pricey! Probably will not return fo dinner...maybe a lunch spot in the future?
great food and even better service. But noisy!
Good food and service. Enjoyed dinner before a show. We will be back.
Great pizza. So, so pasta. Service not so great.
Excellent meal - the fettuccine with broccoli rabe was exquisite! The waiter provided great service and my Italian Combover (cocktail) was wonderful. The *only* issue was the temperature - it was quite chilly and I had to keep my wool scarf wrapped around me. I will definitely be coming back - but perhaps on a day when the outside temps are more mild.
I had only ever stopped in for happy hour, but was pleasantly surprised and delighted with the food. The dining room is a bit claustrophobic, but the excellent food and service more than make up for it.
It was delicious. Absolutely delicious. The dining room doesn’t match the food. The service was excellent. I’m not a person who writes reviews or easily impressed with food, but holy cow this was yummy. The white beans, the porchetta were the best.
We always LOVE our experience with Talia!! The food is fantastic - I personally recommend the steak, gnocchi, and the prosciutto pizza! Melissa, Eric, Scott, & Chef Steve consistently provide above and beyond service. Already looking forward to our next visit!
The food was great, the atmosphere was awesome and the staff was excellent! Couldn’t have asked for a better dining experience!
The best pasta I had in US so far. Finally, “al dente” means something here!
What a wonderful restaurant. My fiancée and I love eating here. Food and staff are top notch.
My husband and I loved our dining experience at Tavia! We really enjoyed the delicious 4 course Valentine's Day Dinner. Each course was paired with a glass of wine. The atmosphere was very romantic. The staff was very friendly and each course was timed perfectly. We will definitely be returning for another date night!
Great food - tons of gluten free options! Get a pizza to share with the table and order a few sides and starters. Get one of the house roasted meats added to a pasta dish and you can try everything on the menu.
It is a little pricy, all ala carte but the dinners were very good.
Food was very good. Liked the atmosphere.
Great staff, great food, lovely atmosphere.
It was our Valentines Date choice and it was perfect.
Went here on Valentine's day nice place. Menu was limited not sure if that is everyday or just because of Valentine's day. The food we had was delicious
Went for lunch with a client. The fish of the day over the bean salad sounded amazing. It would have been great if the fish had been seasoned. It was very bland. My guests said that their food was above average for downtown lunch food, but they both had sandwiches.
Our server was very friendly and had no problem walking us through the menu, which is nice if you’re a first timer there. She was also able to pair a great wine with our dishes. The food was amazing and we left well satisfied.
I love the space at Talia have had good experiences. On this day, we were only one of a few tables at lunch. Our server, while very nice, was so over the top and loud it was uncomfortable and odd. The soup and sandwich were good, when we were offered coffee, my guest got a cup and my choice of tea was black, no decaf, no herbal, no choice but plain bad black tea. Oh and the restaurant was also freezing. I expect more and you should too.
The food is excellent, our server was outstanding. I am giving 4 in some areas because the menu is very limited. But everything we ordered, the porchetta and the spaghetti and meatballs was delicious. As is the homemade bread.
This particular visit the restaurant was very very cold. Almost needed to put on coats in order to be comfortable. Seemed to be an issue but none of the staff mentioned anything.
Service/waitress was GREAT! Loved her! The entrees were over-priced for what we actually received. My wife ordered the pork dinner which was presented very well, however the mashed potatoes were dry. I ordered the 1/2 rotisserie which tasted good, however the chicken was dry also, and the back potatoes were not good at all. Along with my meal I ordered a coke and was highly disappointed in getting a very small bottle of coke that was also over-priced. Although this was our first visit to Talia, we still enjoyed our visit because of our waitress and we will definitely return to Talia for a second chance.
5 of us ate at Talia prior to going to the Pittsburgh Public Theater. Overall, the food was very good. The only disappointment was my Hot Sausage Meatballs which I found to be tough. The wine list has some interesting wines. Service was very good and sufficiently attentive.
Very cool atmosphere, with wonderful service. Drinks are fantastic but expensive. The bread was delicious but charging for it is unusual in Pittsburgh. My entree was a crabmeat special and I couldn’t find more than 2 tablespoons of crab, which felt like a huge rip off considering it’s cost of $23. It tasted good, but wasn’t amazing. All in all, it’s a cool vibe - but I would only go back for drinks.
It was an extremely cold night when we visited which made for small crowd and even a chilly restaurant given all its windows. Out waiter could not have been nicer and was quite knowledgeable about the menu. The octopus appetizer was outstanding as a meal with a good, if uninteresting salad. Also ordered a small portion of the spaghetti (which does not have red sauce) and is amazing albeit rich.
