Tala American Bistro Ratings and Reviews
The Onion Soup, which is usually wonderful, was so poor that all four of the people who ordered it sent it back to the kitchen. It had no taste as all - desperately needed stock or something to richen it up.
The rest of the meals were fine, but it was a first for any of us sending something back to the kitchen at Tala. The soups were taken off our check, but we would rather have had great soup and paid for it.
Best Bolognese I have ever eaten ! Their lamb Bolognese is just fantastic. Everything else our party had was just as good. My wife had huge scallops that were delicious, my sister-in-law had a wonderful halibut dish. The bread was warm and fresh obviously home made as well. Great cocktails as well.First time I ‘ve had dinner here after many lunches ,very impressed.
We had great service from Savanna. She keep it moving, I was there with some Korean business associates and they had an very nice time.
One of the thought she was, and I quote, gorgeous. So much so he drank a Drink he didn't like because she recommended it. Priceless.
We chose to sit outside on the patio because the weather was perfect, and saw the special, fish n' chips delivered to another guest. It looked so good, so we ordered that, and it was so good! A very generous portion. The server was very attentive to our needs. Thank you.
I've been to Tala several times and have never been disappointed. This time was dinner for my partner's birthday. They had a "happy birthday" sign on the table and presented a special dessert complete with a
sparkler. The food was delicious and the server was courteous. After dinner, we had drinks at the bar. The noise level is conducive for quiet conversation. The bartender was friendly and accommodating. I highly recommend Tala, especially for weekend brunch.
I brought a friend to Tala on her Birthday. We both had a lovely time. You guys brought out a cute sign and a little ice cream sundae with a sparkler in it. I was impressed at how you made her feel special without embarrassing her like some restaurants tend to do. Food was amazing and I LOVED the decor and atmosphere. I will be returning for sure.
A friend drove by one day and we decided to give it a shot. I ordered the Hummus which was very very bland and the Steak Frites as my main course. My steak was cold, like to the point you could see it was sitting out for a while because it had started to dry out. My wife ordered the Swordfish and it had zero taste and was kinda burnt. Overall I would say we don't need to go back for a second visit.
We had a wonderful time at Tala's. The food was excellent, but hat's off to our table attendant - Maria. SHe was efficient, professional and makes a great martini. But most of all - Maria has a fabulous personality which added to the overall experience. Thanks Tala for a great meal and experience.
Interesting fusion cuisine, nice atmosphere and very attentive service in a modern setting. Well worth the ten minute drive if business brings you to Albany. A touch on the expensive side if viewed as "a local place" - more attuned to the expense range associated with business or special occasion .
The Calamari and flavored sauce was out of this world. Salmon with vegetable presentation was marvelous. Lamb dish just average. Lamb flavor hard to detect. Web site is great and is why we came for first time time. Plan to come again and introduce to other friends. Waiter assistance in helping us to select the right wine was excellent. The bread and butter was delicious. Tempted to come some time and just have bread and appetizers as the appetizer menu is so appealing. Also will try salads next time. Unfortunately, we came from South and could not find you until we turned around and came back. Don't know how you would change it, but it would help
We went on a Monday night and the service was excruciatingly slow. The decor was very nice, but once the food did come out, the fries that came with my husband's steak were soggy, my mashed potatoes were cold and my veggies were very salty. The chicken piccata was ok. I expected more for what we paid.
Wasn't sure what to expect, adjoining a spa, but was very impressed by the place. Attractive, modern decor, excellent food. I loved the tuna tacos, and my husband who is vegan, was happily accommodated by the chef. One of the best vegan dishes I've tasted.
We like the creativity of their menu items and specials. Our last server, Laura, was outstanding. She was knowledgeable and promoted their new deejay nights. I wish the menu items weren't so salty. In the future I will skip dessert. I was spoiled when I ordered tiramisu when they had the special Italian menu Feb. 3rd. It was the best dessert of my life. I ordered the tiramisu (to go) on another visit and it was almost all cream. I threw most of it out? Last visit my friend ordered their $9. pistachio cheesecake, to go. It looked really good. Two bites and she threw it out.
We will return but will skip dessert.
I was referred to Tala by a friend. When I told my co-workers they also raved about Tala. I wanted Valentines Dinner to be special so I made the reservation which was very simple to do on line. The initial impression when we walked in was wow...we were greeted...the hostess took our coats and said we would be getting the next available table. We proceeded to the bar for a drink. We were warmly greeted by the bartender and had a cocktail. Once our table was ready (which was not long) we were seated. The waiter was very attentive and polite. I'm pretty big on customer service and so far I was very impressed with all the employees. We ordered a top shelf dinner which was excellent. We even ordered dessert which is so rare and that was fabulous. Another thing to point out which is something I never saw before is they offer a half glass of wine. I thought that was pretty cool. For the amount of money I spent on a holiday for dinner, dessert and drinks...all my friends asked me if they billed us correctly. This was a great experience and I'm sure to be back. On additional note...I saw in the menu that they have bring your own wine on Mondays and there is no corking fee....I haven't seen that in this area. So if you can't find a wine you like there are other options.
