Creative and fresh
Went there for Mother's day brunch, our waiter though, super attentive guy- He saw my mom/dad having a hard time understanding the menu and he took his time explaining it to them which helped them decide. Never had to bother him with my Mimosa refill, he was on top of it! Second time being there and just like the first time it was super amazing service!!
Excellent food... service was great. Small place. The queso was amazing!
this restaurant has a lot of work to do. We called before we came about their location. The hostess told us the restaurant was on North and Damen. They are NOT on North and Damen. They are on Division and Damen! Our server was working the entire restaurant on Cinco de mayo! It wasn't totally packed, but after she would leave our table we wouldn't see her for a long time. We got the wrong order and had to find her to tell her then she says the kitchen is closing soon so we can't put your correct order in. It was 7:30pm! And they were still seating people. So that was not correct. We couldn't figure out why she would say that! So we left. Oh, and the hostess was clearing plates in the back and eating the leftover food on those plates, right in front of us. So disgusting! I wouldn't be surprised if this restaurant doesn't make it.
Great food and drinks! Service was good, will definitely return for their happy hour special.
Amazing cocktails, great service. Awesome place for a quick bite and drinks to start the night.
I love this place. Been here 4 times - 3 for lunch/dinner and one for brunch. Each time, the food is always fresh, the tacos are great. They have the BEST margaritas. And the servers are always super nice.
I LOVE this place. It is one if my favorite brunch spots in the whole city.
There wasn't anything special about the tacos or the cocktails. I took a bite of the chicken taco and got a mouth full of grease! Yuck! the guacamole is pureed and full of lime...I felt like I was eating baby food.
Hostess didn’t greet us for 15 minutes, server got our drink order incorrect and didn’t apologize or try to correct it after it took 30 minutes to get a margarita at a Mexican restaurant, paid $9 for the salsa trio and never received the extra order of chips we asked for, we were seated at 7:30 and didn’t receive our food order until 9pm and we just ordered 6 tacos. Server said they gave our food order to a different table, once again didn’t apologize or take anything off our bill. Food was good but sadly the service deserves a -1 star.
Great food and amazing service! I have gone three times and every single time I had a great experience.
Great place to gather with friends. Food is good and service is great.
Great food, service and atmosphere. Would definitely come back
Poor service — especially for being only 1 of 3 tables at the time of being sat and it being an early dinner. The tacos were not hot & a bit disappointing, too.
The cucumber marg was good!
Thanks for sharing your review. I'm in pain. I sent you a personal message in hopes to learn more. My sincerest apologies.
Food was better than what I was expecting. Waited at least 30 min to get seated for our reservation and music was awful (clubby/techno). Other than that it was good.
It's wonderful to have a safe GF space for those with Coeliac Disease! Everything I have ever eaten here is literally amazing, and Marlon is such a wonderful server.
I love the service, music, unlimited mimosas for 10. it was great
Fire brunch spot. Come for the $10 mimosa deal, stay for the pork belly tacos.
Best margaritas in Chicago! Delicious and fresh food choices. Fun ambiance and music.
We were looking for a new mexican spot to try with a more creative menu and came across Takito Kitchen. I'd heard the name before so figured it had some reputation and made the reservation. We were sat immediately and ordered a Coconut Margarita and Mezcal Lychee, which were fantastic. We started with the 3 Salsas and escabeche, and Shrimp ceviche. The salsas were largely indiscernible in flavor and were mostly told apart by the fact they were three different colors. The pineapple habanero salsa was more pineapple than habanero. This was my first introduction to ceviche so I can’t pass judgment on it, but my date said it was unlike any ceviche she had before but not in a good way. This carried weight with me as she spent some time in a Mexican restaurant for work. For entrées we started with the grilled steak, fried chicken, crispy fish, and pork belly tacos. The pork belly and steak for early favorites, but crispy fish and fried chicken were either over done or not freshly made. The tacos are about palm size so we decided to re-order, this time with chicken al pastor, more pork belly, shrimp, and braised beef barbacoa. The barbacoa was great, the shrimp was forgettable, and the chicken was downright offensive. The first bite unloaded about a teaspoon of oil(?) , adding this absurd texture to the whole thing. I ended up wringing the taco out onto the plate just to allow my date to try a bite. The seasoning was good, but the oil saturated meat was strange. All in all, there are other menu items I'm interested to try, but when I'm just in the mood for great tacos, there's a place up the street that has never let me down at a better price point.
The food and waiter were both outstanding. The food and mimosas are so fairly priced and the music was banging. Will definitely be back!!
Great food, good price and nice ambiance. We had the trio of salsas, avocado purée, shrimp, barbacoa, and chicken el pastor and all were very good.
Great deal on brunch, yummy breakfast tacos! Loud but fun.
This was an amazing brunch date. The bottomless mimosas are only $10 and they really fill you up. The food was great and extremely reasonably priced. I would love to go there again.
Food was fantastic and drinks amazing.
Service unfortunately was extremely slow, we didn’t get a drink order until 25 minutes after we were sited, got our drinks 20 minutes after that. Our food order was finally taken 1h and 15m in, surprisingly the food came out very fast. So it’s just a matter of having a better training system in place for the servers.
Other than that, I would love to eat here again.
Great food, reasonable prices, and yummy cocktails - plus gluten-free!!
Guacamole was good. Everything else was extremely mediocre.
Such great food, mimosas, and atmosphere. Bottomless mimosas for $10 doesn’t hurt either. We had a great time! Would recommend to anyone in Chicago
A great night at Takito Kitchen. The fish and barbacoa tacos were highlights - and a special crab taco was also memorable. The space was loud, but they had a great playlist going that created a very festive evening.
One if the best brunch places I have been not only because of the $10.00 bottomless mimosas, hot dog the marvelous food and the EXCELLENT services. Carlos always makes me and my guests as family. It has been ALWAYS a wonderful experience. All the staff remembers me and that just makes it more homey. I always bring someone new with me because I want this spot to do well off and business and stay open for very long time.
I was disappointed. The menu looked good but we had to choose two of the same kind of tacos. I couldn’t order one of each and I wasn’t about to pay for six tacos. That was so pretentious of the owner to implement this rule.
Then our waiter forgot we were there. He came back to give us the check then never came back. The hostess came and took the payment.
Disappointed and will not return.
We've proudly have served oner 150,000 guests successfully; all within the confines of a tiny kitchen. In fact, most upscale "taco-centric" restaurants have followed the same platform of two-tacos of the same type. In your case, however, you seemed more intent to deliberately hurt the business. In the 700 reviews we've received, this is the first one directed at the owner. Shame on you and your Anonymous self!
Brunch- fantastic brunch deal
First time here, came for bottomless mimosas and brunch with a friend. They have a lot of brunch options which is cool and the mimosas were good as expected. Food was okay.. the chicken omelette I had kind of tasted like canned chicken. Overall service was fine, prices were fine, I would go back just not for that chicken omelette.
We had to move to 5 different tables because the ceiling was leaking. Great tacos, they were very apologetic, but a huge pain to move 4 times!
Thank you for taking time to share your review. Regrettably we were challenged with our heating system, and struggled to keep our place warm. My apologies for this. I'll send you a personal note. Again, thank you for taking valuable time to share your experience. We hope to win you back.
Service and food were great! Botomless mimosas for $10, amazing. Small place, but very cozy
Thanks for the rating and review. Brunch is always fun especially with mimosas! Join us again for lunch or dinner.
My waiter was always on point and very knowledgeable about the menu! Food is amazing! I brought my brother that came in from LA and he is a picky eater because of his gluten allergy and he loved everything! I have only came for brunch but I cant wait to bring more people for dinner.
Takito Kitchen was very accommodating for our big party of 20! We all had a good time. They also let us bring in balloons. Only downfall was not being able to itemize the bill between couples.
Great service and the food was fantastic. Will definitely come again
Very good margaritas
