We were able to get a last minute reservation for 7 no problem. Everything we ordered was creative and delicious. The cucumber margarita was very good as well as the old fashioned. I am so very happy to be able to sit down at a restaurant and be able to order anything and not have a problem with gluten! Will come here the next time we are in Chicago!
My friend and I went for taco Tuesday and also learned it was happy hour between 5p-7pm, which was a double bonus. So happy we went
The weekend brunch is awesome here.
Music was a bit too loud, but food and service was great!
Honestly disappointed in the food after reading the reviews, maybe it was an off night? The hearts of palm salad was the best thing we had. All the tacos were pretty dry. Happy hour drinks were great tho!
Great food! Great drinks! Great hosts!! And amazing food!! Had a girls brunch there and it was amazing!!!
A lot bigger portions than Bar Takito. Highly recommend the Pineapple Serrano Margarita & the Braised Beef Tacos!
Always a great time there!! Amazing deals and delicious food! 😋
I’ve been here many times and it’s still a good time with excellent food and drinks.
Food was great but a bit pricey. Overall worth the experience but not a place to consider a go-to.
Delicious margaritas!! We had the Takito and tamarindo cilantro margaritas. The only issue is that on Friday-Sunday they have strict rules regarding the minimum tacos that you can order. You must purchase at least 2 of the same taco. This prevented me from trying a variety of tacos, instead of trying 3 of their tacos (I wanted 1 of their fried fish, 1 shrimp and 1 barbacoa) I was restricted to only 1 since I had to order minimum of 2 tacos of the same kind?? This may work for groups but when your companion is vegan this does not work. The coconut flan was also well done.
Got there near closing time but they were happy to have us. Started with exceptional margaritas (get the spicy or cucumber one). Try all the different tacos. Favorites were fish, barbacoa and chicken but definitely worth trying all. Polenta and pine nut avocado appetizers are very good. Lots of corn so easy to be gluten free there.
We had the BEST time celebrating my sister's birthday at Takito Kitchen. We had Saturday brunch scheduled for 20 people. Mario, the manager, personally called me to discuss the details ahead of time. He helped me pre-order appetizers that were ready on the table just as our group arrived. We had the back of the restaurant to ourselves, and between our two large tables had two fantastic servers - they took care of our large, noisy group even with all the moving around we all did during the meal. The food is extremely affordable. We had a great experience and I would highly recommend it.
Decided to try Takito for my monthly brunch outing and let me tell you, I was NOT disappointed. This month was special because it was my sister’s birthday celebration. The food was great, the drinks were great ($10 mimosas, I expected greatness and Takito didn’t disappoint!) and the service was on point! Moira made my experience a wonderful one. My sisters were running behind schedule. So, I sat out front in the al fresco area to wait for them. Moira came out and offered me water and a mimosa (She automatically knew what I was there for and now I love her). When my sisters arrived, we went inside and Moira offered her brunch suggestions. I chose the chilaquiles with chicken confit (DELICIOUS). She was attentive and was sure to make sure our needs were met and to our surprise she brought my sister a birthday dessert! Takito has been added to my list of brunch spots. They’d be crazy to let Moira go.
Takito is supposed to be a 100% gluten free kitchen. My friend and I both have celiac disease and have dined there many times without issues. This time, we both got sick from gluten cross contamination. We dined at Takito on October 2nd, and I reached out with an email the very next day letting them know I got sick. I didn’t get a response so I sent a follow up later that week. No response, so I called and spoke with the manager. He seemed puzzled and assured me the restaurant is 100% gluten free, but took my name, phone number and email and said he would get back to me. A week later I still had no reply so I called back and asked to speak with him (Jaime), however he was busy so they took my name & number. He never called back. Almost a month after the incident, I left them a message on Instagram (which they should be able to see since they follow me and I follow them back @jojosparkles_gfchicago). No reply a week later. After speaking with other Celiacs, I learned that many others have been getting sick there, and that they have been serving glutenous items in the restaurant on the weekends for several months under new management, but still assert on their menu that they are 100% gluten free. This was the last straw, so I had no choice but to leave a Yelp review, alarming other Celiacs of this huge risk if they choose to dine there. I have received no follow-up whatsoever from Takito, and I am beyond upset that what used to be my favorite restaurant in Chicago is now putting people’s lives at risk. Autoimmune diseases and food allergies are no joke! This is something that they should take seriously and address head-on before they get sued.
Takito: please alert diners with celiac/allergies that you are no longer celiac safe, or change your practices! I just fear for the people who already have a hard enough time dining out who have to go through the pain of getting sick at what should be a dedicated gluten free restaurant. :(
The food here is great, however the the noise level is beyond annoying. The music does NOT have to be that loud. It's so loud, you had to shout to your fellow diners in order for them to hear you. Turn it down!
Also, the gin & tonic I ordered tasted like stale tonic, it's unclear whether there was any gin in the G&T or not. I sent it back.
Celiac friendly and delicious! Our favorite. Nicest people as well
Absolutely love this place....and Celiac safe as well. Gluten free and fantastic.
Service and atmosphere werr great but the tacos were so incredibly salty. And the queso was drenched in a puddle of oil and butter. Drinks were incredible though
Food was great! Only weird thing was that the place was empty at 7:30pm on a Saturday which is usually a red flag. But overall great experience between the food and service.
Great food, drinks, outdoor space and wonderful waitress.
Great restaurant. Everyone in our group thought they were the best tacos we had ever had. Very creative menu
Tacos are always amazing! The chicken al pastor and the pork belly are so good.
Came here for Sunday brunch; menu as an interesting assortment of omlets, french toast, bottomless mimosas. Squeezed in among a bunch of other restaurants, bars on a lively block of Division. Service friendly, food was all good. Would come here again.
Our waitress was on point, from the moment she sat us down, to taking our orders and even genuine compliments. Definitely had an amazing time, it was a reservation which I highly recommend especially on Sundays since it was pretty busy. Overall had an amazing experience, as a latina authentic latin food is always a must, this was amazing!
We had a group of 12 and the food and service was great as usual. Weekend brunch is great here I highly recommend!
Great margaritas, good tacos. Drinks and tacos a bit pricey, but in line with similar restaurants. Overall it was a great time.
Many different group/date/family options. Great food and drinks, cooked to order. Staff was atentative, kind and very helpful, in making our menue choices. When we visited, there was a group of friends, a meeting, at least one family group and several others. We were able to hold conversation without any issues. It was AWESOME!
I wish I could remember our servers name but he was fantastic! Really great recommendations, and was accommodating for our large party with quite a few dietary requests. The cucumber margarita is the best I have ever had, and loved every taco I tried (fried fish, pork belly, steak!) Make a reservation!
Five of us met for drinks, appetizers, tacos and desserts. Everyone was pleased w/everything. We were delighted the tasty margaritas were half price until 7 pm. Nice variety of margaritas from sweet to sour. How appropriate Takito served Pacifico beer. Nothing tastier or more refreshing - and they have chilled beer glasses upon request. Our waiter could not have been friendlier or more professional. He was able to answer questions and make suggestions. A lovely evening indeed! Can’t wait to go back.
This was my second experience at Takito. The food was great and cocktails were as well. Our service was unfortunately, way below I expected. Our food order got mixed up. The waitress fixed it but acted like we had made the mistake. The drinks took a long time to get and more than once we received the wrong drinks. We mentioned the drinks were wrong but even after all the issues she took them and threw them out. She said if she left them we would be charged.
Takito has the best tacos! The people there are really nice!
Takito is my #1 go-to for Mexican food, especially if I'm trying to entertain somebody I have not seen in a while.
I love takito! The pork and chicken tacos are my favorite. yummy tacos and nice people
My family really enjoyed being there! We will be back :)
The best. Always!
The food that we ordered was excellent. Live lamb and vegan tacos.
Super friendly staff and awesome food. The fish tacos were amazing!
Had an awesome time at Takito. Food was delicious: queso fundido, lamb + pork belly + steak tacos. Good drinks. Highly recommend.
