Taj Mahal Scottsdale
We foresee to become your favorite Cuisine of India in Arizona.
Great vegan choices!! Owner very fun to chat with!!
Great fun with the girls, for dinner and entertainment on a Saturday night the food was amazing not a big place but
Everything was superb as always. The service, the ambiance, the staff. Best Indian food in Phoenix by far. Great selection of dishes and large portions. I wish I could have leftovers but it's just too good not to finish it ALL
Excellent food. Value is expensive compared to other Indian restaurants in the area. This place even charges for rice with any dish! $17.99 for a dish should include .40 worth of rice.
Trouble getting service bc they said they wanted to finish the online orders! Big mistake! Service the people, and we were the Only people at the time, in your restaurant! It's too bad. I used to like this place. Won't give it another try.
The food was great. The service was amazing! The owner stopped by our table and chatted with us; He was very friendly. We will definitely be back here again soon!
Owner was great. Dealt with all of our allergies. Good and service was excellent
The food was great and the service was pretty good as well. I will definitely be going back.
Great service Great food. Love the coconut chicken🤤🤤
Tasty Indian food!
I was in town for the first time and was craving Indian and found this place on open table. It was the best food I’ve ever tasted. I would make another trip to Scottsdale just to have it again.
We waited for over an hour to be served our meal after ordering. No apologies from anyone but the hostess. Food was great but the wait staff was one of the worst we’ve experienced. There are too many great places to eat In the area so we will not be going back.
Slow inattentive waitresses
While the food was very good, the service and the hygiene of the restaurant was poor. Service was very slow and unprofessional. The server completely touched the pitcher to our glasses and then to all customers. What difference do masks and sanitization methods make if you're sharing germs directly from customer to customer via the water pitcher?! Do not recommend this restaurant.
This was my fourth or fifth trip here and was the best yet! Food was delicious and just the right amount of spice. I will be back for sure!
Great food with good service
Outstanding food and service we have been there twice now and each time is amazing. Would highly recommend!!
Excellent food, but it took over an hour to get our dinner served.
Great food. Staff was amazing! They explained different dishes. Service was fast.
Tried this place over our usual favorite Indian restaurant as we had recently passed by and was unaware it was in the Old Town area.
The place is nice inside, decorated well and is not overtly in your face (as some places can be). Certainly created a relaxed dining environment. Nice.
Ordered a drink before dinner, no issues there. Service was a bit slow considering they weren't busy when we arrived for dinner @ 6:45pm. Only two tables had people at them - including us! Ordered our appetizer and main meals and waited.... for a little while anyway. Others came in and seated after us and served faster..
While the staff did do a great job cleaning menu's and tables, etc between customers, the alcohol/antiseptic agent they used was extremely pungent and strong - it could be smelt throughout the restaurant while we were eating.. While I applaud their commitment to protecting customers, the strength of the antiseptic could be turned back a little.. made it smell like a hospital!
The order finally arrived and the butter chicken was definitely over cooked and the chicken was super dry and chewy - not moist as it should have been and spoilt the dish a bit. The lamb vindaloo was good, very flavorsome and not super spicy. A little light on the meat however!
The gobi manchurian was nice but very heavily battered - probably a little too much, considering it's a vegetarian style dish. The cauliflower florets were huge (as was the dish) so certainly get a good sized serving. The flavor was good and the onion bhaji was pretty nice also. Also had a garlic naan (good), and a side of rice. Considering the meal, and a bottle of wine, it was pretty expensive for what we got ($120 without the tip).
Overall it was ok, but I'm yet to be impressed.
Service was friendly and prompt. Unfortunately the restaurant was rather “bare bones” and not overly clean.
The naan was especially good and the curries were excellent. Tandoori wings were slightly underdone and difficult to manage. We did not order dessert.
The food was excellent and the staff was friendly and helpful.
The food did not disappoint! The Chicken Tikka Masala was spiced perfectly snd the garlic naan was delicious.
The best Indian food we’ve found in Phoenix
The food was yummy and they were very accommodating with substitutions.
food was great!
First visit. Authentic Indian food, great service and full bar. We will return!
Food and service are great.
I was so looking forward to good Indian food. I ordered the lamb in curry sauce which was fairly good, but my husband ordered the mixed grill which was extremely over cooked and dry. Best part of the meal was the Naan bread. Owner was very friendly, but unfortunately we won’t return.
Great restaurant and food, service was terrific. We are vegan and our server helped us with our entrees and even let us sample a few sauces prior to ordering. Fun bar area and in the heart of Old Town.
Wonderful experience! Gill and his wife Sandy are terrific hosts. The food was excellent. We will be back!
This was my first time dining at Taj Mahal, it was absolutely perfect. Gil is the best and the staff and food were all great too
Amazing experience. Great food and service
I had made a reservation. we were sat right away. service was a little slower but they let us know they were short staffed and we certainly were in no rush. the owner/manager was super friendly and nice. the food was delicious! we had been wanting some good indian food and that’s exactly what we got. drinks were also great!
Ambience was good as we were seated off the main dining floor which was nice and quiet. Food was OK. Lamb was dry but sauces were flavorful.
Wait-staff should be coached not to be so abrupt in their manner - no personal introduction or enquiry about previous Indian eating experience. Young lady was very friendly and helpful but could have better table-side manner.
Serice and food were slow to come out but once they did the food was amazing. Worth the wait! But don’t go If you are in a hurry.
The staff was very disorganized, no one had assigned duties making the operation very inefficient. For example, there is no designated bar tender so cocktails are made by the waitresses who were trying to manage everything themselves. At several times, some of the staff had to stop and ask the manager what task to work on rather than having a specific job throughout the night. At one point, the restaurant ran out of silverware and they had to give people plastic instead. The owner talked down to the wait staff and we saw him throw many receipts on the floor with no attempt to try to make it into the trash can. At one point the trash can wasn’t even there and he still threw the garbage on the floor and never picked it up.
The food took a very long time. At one time we heard the owner say the kitchen was backed up by 30 minutes but that was a very generous time frame as it took much longer. At one point they told us “five more minutes” and we proceeded to wait 15.
The food itself was okay. The dishes with coconut have more flavor than the others.
They take the Covid precaution of wiping down menus, tables and their hands with something from a squirt bottle that smelled like straight rubbing alcohol and they used so much that the smell lingered in the air for long periods of time and was very unappetizing. The owner sometimes had his mask down and at one point rubbed his nose without washing his hands and the proceeded to talk to all the patrons throughout the restaurant.
We will not be returning.
Restaurant is very cozy and seating comfortable. It would suit romantics, business or casual diners with its relaxed ambiance. Food selection is very good and meals compliment each other so one is always assured of a good time. Staff service is alright and prices are definitely average. Good value for money.
Great food, fair pricing for the portion you get. Not sure about the staffing situation there though - had to get help from more than 2 other servers because our original had been MIA
