Taj Indian Cuisine
Welcome to TAJ Indian Cuisine!
We've been coming here whenever we are in Ashland (annually), and the food is always good, but this time (for reasons I am not sure I understand), it was terrific. We are from the Bay Area and have many choices of Indian food--and Taj is still worth a trip.
The food did not disappoint. I will come again to try other dishes. Bathroom could of cleaner
Amazing food and service. Karam made great recommendations . Will be coming back for more.
Very curt wait staff. Seemed like they didn’t like to interact with customers. We had a reservation but were still crammed into a small table. Food good. Service needs improvement!
Great variety (especially gluten-free) and very tasty. Good, fast service
The food overall was fine. Like the dal and breads, but the tandoori chicken was pretty bad. Would not recommend that menu item.
I would recommend them for lunch. We went in the evening and The price was high and the service was indignant
fabulous food, the only challenge is deciding what to eat.
Taj has become one of our favorite restaurants. My wife is vegan, and we appreciate that there are several delicious dishes that meet her dietary needs (all clearly marked on the menu). Service is consistently friendly and efficient.
Very nice dinner.
This was a birthday for my 17 year old son, we dine here often maybe once every 2 months.... this place really does a great job, tonight one dish was way off par from normal the korma which normally is excellent tonight it was just ok.... but the other 95 percent of the time here is absolutely excellent! Don’t hesitate to come here, I’ve been to places in the Bay Area that were no better, if not worse.... Taj is an excellent addition to Ashland’s extensive dining options! I’m a local so ....
Food was fair to poor. Phone rang constantly. One wait person was pleasant and the other was not friendly at all. Would not eat here again
Good for groups and families. Delicious Indian foods, wine list includes local Oregon wines and wines from India as well as local and Indian beer. Friendly service. We include Taj every year when attending the Oregon Shakespeare Festival.
This is a great place for a casual Indian meal before the theatre and they deliver. The chicken tikka was great and we love the bhindi masala (okra). I think that the nan is delicious and was fresh and home made. We loved this taste of India in Ashland.
I would not recommend this restaurant. The lamb curry was too saucy and the meat tough. I asked for spicy and it wasn't flavorful. My friend asked for mild and she got my spicy chicken curry. They forgot to bring the drink. All of the sauces, yogurt and condiments, were an additional cost. Not worth the money.
Well one definitely gets what one asks for at this restaurant. I ordered my dish spicy and that is indeed what I received. The proportions are more than adequate ( we couldnt finish our salad for two), with the food very fresh. The staff were very attentive and the dishes served timely. If one has a craving for good East Indian food, and a good appetite, this is the place to go. Best yet, the cost is low in comparison to many other restaurants in the area.
The dishes we ordered were flavorful and spiced well (we had one medium and one hot--and they were perfectly done). The lamb vindaloo was tender. The chicken korma was smooth and complex.
excellent food, setting, and service, just a couple of blocks from OSF theatres in the northern part of downtown Ashland -- the best Indian food we have had in town on our many trips to Ashland
We had a group of 8 people with several dietary constraints: vegetarian, gluten-free, low-salt, and no onions. We were all very satisfied by the selection and the food was excellent - and all of our constraints were met! We will come back next year when we visit Ashland.
Great authentic Indian Food
We love Indian food and when our son and his wife came from out of town, we decided to try Taj. It was ok, but the food was very under seasoned. I ordered very mild for my granddaughters, and medium for myself. They were exactly the same. My daughter-in-law had to ask for red chili sauce (similar to Frank's) just to spice her's up. Anyway, I think they need to get their spice regimen down. If we order medium, then it needs to be a bit spicy, not ultra mild!! Other than that, the food had a good, authentic taste, and was reasonably priced.
We love Taj Indian Cuisine. After visiting India several times and learning to cook from an Indian friend, I can definitely say that there are lots of bad Indian restaurants out there. Taj is the best in southern Oregon. Authentic, delicious, quick and friendly service. It is always a special place to eat and worth the drive from Medford!
Meh. Kinda bland Indian food and the service is lacking. The naan is wonderful and I did enjoy my tandoori oven food a tremendous amount. I would try again.
Waiter seemed uninteresting in providing any service other than taking order and carrying food to table. Food was average, nothing special. Probably would not go back.
Delicious food and friendly service! Not much more I could want in a dinner in Ashland, OR.
Taj Indian Restaurant was a wonderful place for taking my son while we were visiting Ashland. Despite some of the reviews here, the waiters were polite and the food came promptly. No remarkably exotic dishes (we’re spoiled by living in the SF Bay Area where good Indian foods abounds). We ate at our leisure and still made our 8:00 curtain at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival show. Overall a quite pleasant dining experience. I would recommend Taj to visitors and friends.
We were visiting family for my 50th Birthday. We arrived about 15 minutes early for our reservation. The gentleman that greeted us was very rude, we told him we could come back but he hurriedly seated us and told us we would be having the buffet. I asked if we could order from the menu I have Celiacs Decease and have to be careful about ordering, he didn’t even bring a menu. We finally just said we would eat the buffet and asked for a drink menu, we all wound up drinking water because nobody came back to take a drink order. It was $72.00 for 4 of us to have a buffet and they charged me extra for a GF item they serve non GF on the menu. I also got sick from something they said was GF on the buffet. We will never recommend nor go back to this restaurant.
I went for Valentine's with my partner and we had a great experience. I will go back often.
Great service, and the food was very tasty. Looking forward to my next meal there!
The service was good, the food very tasty, and the ambiance pleasant.
We were so happy to find such great Indian food in Ashland! Each year we visit and frequent the same places. We decided to try Taj Indian Cuisine for the lunch buffet and loved it! So affordable for such a great selection. Everything was fresh and well prepared, nicely balanced seasonings. There were 3 different chicken choices in the buffet! But also 3-4 vegetarian choices. They had a vegetable dish with mushrooms that I've never had before and it was wonderful. The pakoras and the sauces go wonderfully with the salad, then move on the great entree selections! The staff was attentive. Great buffet prices.
Great food and the service was fine. The koral was very good
We were seated quickly and the service was prompt and courteous. We ordered the Lamb Korma (generous and tender chunks of meat) and the Chicken Tandoori (it was a bit dry -- maybe overcooked?). The portions were too large for our appetites -- one main course by itself would have filled us up. The garlic naan was tasty. The wine list was unusual with a red from Bangalore (not to our taste) and an Austrian Zweigelt (very nice) --- about six whites and six reds available by the glass. We finished with a generous serving of Gulab Jamun -- my favorite Indian dessert and were out the door in just an hour -- prompt service without feeling rushed.
We had an adequate pre-theater dinner. The food was tasty, but the lamb was overwhelmed by the creamy sauce. The service staff checked in excessively and did not evidence warmth or friendliness. They were cordial but mechanical. Low prices, decent food, very close to Shakespeare theaters, not memorable.
I love the flavors but the food is hot only for moments & then is cold. The rice is perfect. Lovely gentleman waiters.
Was excited to try, based on other reviews. Arrived early for our reservation and was met with hostility from staff. We sat at our table, and were the only people in the joint. After the initial hostility...things went downhill. An older gentleman came to grudgingly take our order. When asked for suggestions, he had none. He ignored my request to prepare my food in the way the menu said it could be presented. All in all, not a positive experience. Will not return and will let others know to avoid.
The food st Taj is extraordinary! Fresh and delicately seasoned..,totally delicious! Great service
Excellent service, tasty food, especially for a new vegetarian! We'll definitely return. One thing I liked, in comparison to some other Indian places, is the the menu is manageable...not encyclopedic.
The food was New and different. And was very good. Service was better than excellent. It was our wedding anniversary and we had a great time.
I would not recommend Taj, will I ever eat there again. The service was poor, the food is bland, and I hate that I paid so much for it. I even had shards in my wine, and when I mentioned it, I was given a shoulder shrug and a sigh. I advise all to avoid this establishment.
I also felt ignored and the server was indifferent. I did not matter.
