Taisteal is the latest venture by Michelin-trained chef Gordon Craig. Taisteal, meaning journey or to travel, presents dishes using the best local Scottish produce combined with elements from around the world.
Inspired by his own travels aboard and recipes from around the world, Gordon hopes to bring some of these flavours and techniques to Stockbridge. Taisteal takes elements of fine dining and presents them in a more relaxed environment. The menu will be complimented by an extensive wine list, and a selection of classic and contemporary cocktails.
Before opening Taisteal in 2017 Gordon worked established and ran Field and Field Grill House for over 3 years. Prior to that he trained with the Roux Brothers at The Waterside Inn, as well as other Michelin establishments including The Peat Inn and The Plumed Horse. Gordons' passion for food and flavours is reflected in the menu which is presented at Taisteal.

Very bad service for a restaurant for what this restaurant pretends to be. Had to ask for bread at least 2 times. Finally came and not what the rest of the restaurant had. Ordered a side of potatoes that never made the table. Also asked for the wine list that didn’t it make it either... .

Quite possibly the best restaurant in Edinburgh. Certainly holds its own in London and New York. The value approaches crazy given the quality of the kitchen. We will recommend it to anyone and everyone that cares about and appreciates food!

The food was exceptional as usual it was the flavours overall that was the highlight of the meal. The restaurant is cosy and has a lovely ambience not too noisy as the evening we were there it was not full.

Imaginative menu. Saffron risotto was tasty with good texture without being too salty as many risottos I've had elsewhere. The beetroot & goats cheese cannelloni with veggie haggis bonbons was really tasty and came with lots of interesting little additions on top/surrounding it. Sides were good and desserts yummy particularly the peanut butter and chocolate fondant one. Had a gin cocktail (Alternative Facts) which had creme de cassis and it was truly delicious. Good service and all in all a really nice Valentine's Day dinner.

First visit here. Great selection of food and the set menu was excellent value. Wine very expensive though. Great service and they did not rush us at all despite us having a very leisurely lunch.

Food looked good but was not as flavoursome as anticipated. More sauce needed. Perhaps some items had been pre-cooked then heated through. We enjoyed ourselves but as this restaurant had been recommended by friends we were a tad disappointed.
