Taco Cowboy Ratings and Reviews
This by far has been the worst experience ever. I chose this place as a place to celebrate my friends birthday. The drinks had no liquor in it then my food came out with hair in it. I instantly stop eating and called the waiter. The manager came to the table and got the plate but made the statement that Matt was the one that put the hair in the food. That is so so so nasty . I would not suggest anyone to eat from here. I asked the manager could she take something off the ticket for the inconvenience and she advised she took a drink off that was given back because it taste like apple sauce. I took one sip and of course returned it back to her. The manager is very rude and the level of customer service she provided for me after I found the hair in my food was zero as if she did not care . DO NOT EAT HERE.
Art of Service is lost here, but the menu is eclectic and inviting. Salad with arugula didn’t have a blade of arugula, but the dressing was exceptional. Loved the tapas-style that encourages sharing, but no serving spoons were provided, making for an awkward experience overall. Glad we tried it but will let them work out kinks before trying again or recommending.
The name change didn't seem to hurt...missed a few of the former menu items...service was, as always, excellent (Tom doesn't seem to tolerate any servers who don't care)...drinks were made carefully and correctly but slowly - maybe another bartender on a busy night? good food, good drinks, good service, good parking - what's not to like
This was a disappointing experience. The chips were stale, the muscles were fishy tasting and the tacos were just okay. The Mac and cheese was good. The tacos were $6-8 each and were not that great. We will not go back. Too bad because we visited about 6 months ago and really enjoyed or food... something has happened!
Taco Cowboy is a fun casual neighborhood spot that does not disappoint. The balcony is definitely the place to sit. We had a great waiter who took care of us and recommended the pot sticker special which was very tasty. We had our usual grilled shrimp tacos and grilled chicken tacos - both very good. Chocolate mousse cake for dessert was very nicely plated and a good size and very good. We will definitely be back.
Taco Cowboy has not disappointed me, yet. My second visit was just as great as the first! The whole catfish was beautifully, presented and delicious. The collard greens and white peas tasted like a dish from my kitchen-perfectly seasoned. I will return to try more dishes!
This review comes with an asterisk. Drinks were good, chips were good. You pay for chips and salsa. We had waited a long time for our food when our waiter said there was a *small fire in the kitchen and our food would come out but would take a bit. Didnt offer more chips to hold us over. When we asked for more chipshe only brought chips...no salsa. Thanks. 30-40 min later another person came out and said the Kitchen caught fire and we were told that our food orders were not going to come because they had to shut off the gas. Everyone around us were eating so I dont know if it was just us. Then our waiter came out with some "extra tacos" that someone left? One would think they would comp our bill but they only comped the chips and charged us $7 for drinks we were told were $5. Will prob give another chance.
Thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the outdoor patio eating a delicious meal, while checking out the 'Highlands' scenery with my seductress.
The Hot Chili Seafood & Texas Mule are two exemplary entries on their menu.
You will regret if passed up :/
Of course TCowboy has been one of the most reviewed, newer, Highland eateries, and well-deservedly so. Lives way up to, and surpasses the reputation created by the earlier restaurants; You know the name!
We had a fantastic time at Taco Cowboy!! The owners, Tom and Lisa, are so gracious, as is the entire staff. Everyone is laid back and pleasant, and want you to feel the same way as you enjoy their wonderful menu offerings. I had the daily drink special - a refreshing, not-too-sweet rum drink made with fresh banana puree. We loved their take on guacamole and queso with 2 different kinds of chips. We scored half price tacos (happens every Tuesday night) so we went crazy trying almost all of them. The daily special with brisket and pimemto cheese was outstanding. My personal favorite was the Baja - fish taco with jalapeño slaw. Really, we loved them all, and we left feeling very full. We even managed to share a babana pudding - which was great, too! We will be back often.
PS - Make sure you pull up to the correct valet stand. There are 2 or 3 valets in short distance of the restaurant, but only one has an agreement with Taco Cowboy for validating your claim ticket so you can park for free. Otherwise, your parking fee could be as much as $20.
AH-MAZING! We recently moved to Atlanta and have been seeking out and enjoying the NON-chain restaurant option.. we picked Taco Cowboy based on reviews and our love for tex-mex food. This is Tex-Mex with a twist. The food was DELICOUS! We will definitely be back.
I liked the menu and prices. But they sat us at a table right in front of the door leading to the patio and this was a chilly night. The waiters would just prop the door open instead of closing it and we'd freeze the more margaritas or iced sodas we had. We asked the waiter if they could unprop the door but she said that's unlikely. My thought? Then don't have a table there. Because it made our experience subpar in comparison to other diners not near the door. We were hit with blasts of chilly air in a way no one else was and it made it hard to relax. Half of us had our jackets/coats back on which is not how you want to eat dinner.
As I walked in, I met the owner and his wife. Very nice people! The food actually far surpassed my expectations, both in quantity and quality. Drinks were great, too. Service was fast and friendly. Overall, this probably takes the top spot for my favorite restaurant to go to regularly.
