Located on the edge of Logan Square, Table, Donkey and Stick is a neighborhood restaurant offering seasonal fare and a unique selection of beer, wine and spirits honoring the eating and drinking traditions of the Alps. The restaurant has been named a best new restaurant by Chicago Magazine and awarded a Bib Gourmand by the Guide Michelin.

Our menu features creative, seasonally driven small and large plates, complemented by a rotating selection of charcuterie and artisan cheeses. The kitchen works with local farmers and whole animals whenever possible; all breads and charcuterie items are made in-house.

Table, Donkey and Stick is a place to gather with friends in a warm and comfortable environment. The focus is on the table: a place for food and drink, but also for story-telling and fellowship.

I wanted to love this place, but after all would likely not return. We celebrated a very special occasion and indicated that in our reservation, yet there was no acknowledgment of it whatsoever. The oat bread was so burnt, only half of it was edible, the halibut itself was cold when served. We ordered desert, but it just seemed it like a disconnect to to menu. Tried to order wine by the glass and weren’t really sure of the different options, but no advise/recco was given. $200 dinner that was mediocre at best

Chris was a terrific server, the support staff was on point, and all of the food was amazing. We had a great experience. The duck liver mousse alone is worth coming back for.

Such a wonderful meal! The dining space is very small, so while the noise level is not loud by any means, it does feel like you're talking over the other guests at times. The food was fantastic and our server was very knowledgeable about the menu items. He gave us some fantastic recommendations since it was our first time. Looking forward to going back again.

One of the best dining experiences I've had in a long time because every small dish we ordered was cooked supremely well - and paired with just the right flavors/greens. We had bacon tartine, scallops, lamb leg w/ lentils and salad. You can appreciate the thought and careful oversight that goes into each. I'll be going back!

Delicious and nuanced flavor combinations. The charcuterie and cheeses were exciting. We loved the smoked trout spread and the recommended cheese on their awesome house-made breads. We also loved the bacon tartine; it was beautiful with flower petals on it and so good. For the main course I had halibut which was mellow but seasoned perfectly, cooked in an oil bath—that sounds oily but it wasn’t at all. The vegetables served with the halibut were unexpected with bright spring flavors, including the spring lima beans. They were a revelation (I normally hate them!) I also had a bite of the burger and it really was the best I ever had (I do love mushrooms though).

Very relaxing evening.. enjoyed eating at the bar and the conversation with the bartender. The salmon and the pate appetizers were delicious, although small. We came for the burger, and it did not disappoint. High quality meat grilled to perfection.

Warm, chic and full of energy, Table, Donkey and Stick is a neighborhood gem perfect for date night or an evening with friends for cocktails, charcuterie and fresh bread made in house. Our server was attentive and well informed but gave us space to take our time through drinks and a few courses of dinner. We shared bread and a variety of cheeses with a round of aperitifs, followed up with burgers, latkes and salads that were simply delicious! We will be back!

Great space. Staff are super accommodating. My friends and I (all 14 of us) were on a semi-monthly burger tour and made plans to dine at Table, Donkey and Stick. They were able to make our group size work. TDS is known more for their charcuterie and cheese plates. The latter, and their burger, are solid choices. We also enjoyed the potato latkes and beverage options. They have a cozy outdoor space. Can't wait to return in warmer weather to dine in that space.

You can tell the team here puts a lot of effort into the smallest details and it translates both onto the plate and in the glass. Can’t wait to go back and check out their Terroir Tuesdays!

I always enjoy myself at Table Donkey and Stick - it had been too long since I had dined there last but I was not disappointed. The staff are always knowledgeable and pleasant, the food is inventive and delicious. The bread and butter is simply to die for - we finally ordered entrees but could have literally just dined on the bread and charcuterie alone.

I was a little disappointed in my experience here, for how much press this restaurant gets. I felt the portion sizes were small for the price. Additionally, we ordered the charcuterie as recommended by the server, and the bread that accompanied it was burnt. This seems like a pretty basic thing to botch? Wine selection wasn't great.

The service and the charcuterie really saved this visit. We chose to celebrate a birthday here, so the disappointment in the overall experience was a bit magnified. We were of course very curious about the best burger in Chicago; however, when it arrived, it was raw. We could both handle rare typically, but a raw burger is just not right. Luckily our server was understanding and removed it from our ticket. The escargot gratin was just okay. As stated before, the charcuterie, cheeses, and bread that were selected for us to start the meal were AMAZING.
The ambiance is not too bad, but it would have been a lot cozier if we weren't seated next to the front door and under a fan on a chilly evening. The music was like listening to my own Spotify, which also kind of made me feel like we were hanging out in a casual bar and not a nice restaurant.
Service was attentive and accommodating. I really like that the final tab includes a percentage toward providing staff healthcare.

The rye bread and butter were fabulous as was the hamburger. $2.00 for a small 1/2 filled tiny cup of butter seems too high a price. It was fabulous butter. It may have taken a chef an hour to make this creation of unique butter. I'm glad I ordered it to taste it. Everything was fabulous. I don't think there was good value. For a unique experience I recommend you try this place.

This was a major disappointment. To note the positives first. The charcuterie was excellent--the duck mousse as good as I've ever eaten. The cheese excellent. We were celebrating a birthday and the complimentary ice cream with shaved manchego dessert was very very good. BUT--we came for the burgers which were recently named #1 in the city in a Tribune article. Two in our party ordered them---medium rare. They were overcooked and dry as a bone. I looked for the raclette--it was a burned hard thing under the bun. The shitake was nowhere to be seen or tasted. I know we could have sent them back but this was supposed to be a festive occasion. Another person ordered duck breast--again medium rare and it arrived red and cool in the center. Again, I know we could have sent it back but we really hate doing that. The trout was ok and the beer and wine were fine. Someone must have been missing in the kitchen.

Everything was just poor to mediocre. Service was ok, I will say a very limited menu and not that much variety.
Got the fresh bread which was delicious and their homemade butter was awesome. That’s the best part of the meal, sad but true.

Went in for the burger apparently #1 in Chicago - poorly cooked and overpriced. Comes alone no side and for $15 i was expecting a lot more taste. The buns too thick to get a good bite and the meat was pretty much red/raw. Small/medium sized. Never thought you could mess up a burger but they did. The lettuce had a nice dressing and the cheese melted great. The bite of raw meat simply ruined it and there wasn’t much flavor in the actual burger itself. Had to order potato latkes cause the burger comes by itself, also a downer and adds to it being overpriced.

Overall I’d rate it a 2.7/5. This is assuming i would’ve gotten a medium rare perfectly cooked burger, which i did not. Guess the hype must’ve got to their heads already and they’ve gotten lackadaisical in their efforts. I’ve been to many places with great claims to burgs and this definitely not the best burger in Chicago, don’t think I’ll ever go back for anything else.

I heard about this place from the @chitribfood. This place, which is not know for burgers, was ranked at #1. The burger lived up to the hype, so much so, there was nothing but absolute silence while the four of us ate.
The bread is made in house and makes everything work with the massive about of juices staying in, very clean.
The only things I would change is the fact that we were packed into a large table like sardines with other people and very small portions of cheese was funny
