Table Donkey and Stick
Our menu features creative, seasonally driven small and large plates, complemented by a rotating selection of charcuterie and artisan cheeses. The kitchen works with local farmers and whole animals whenever possible; all breads and charcuterie items are made in-house.
Table, Donkey and Stick is a place to gather with friends in a warm and comfortable environment. The focus is on the table: a place for food and drink, but also for story-telling and fellowship.
Great food, great experience.
We had a great time catching up over wine and charcuterie! Service was great as always.
Table Donkey and Stick is probably my favorite place to eat in Chicago. Their menu is always superb. The service is impeccable.
Always great food and service!
Food, ambiance and service was amazing! Will definitely be back!!
"I love the relaxed feel of this place – like a comfortable dining room in friends home. I definitely would return to try the bratwurst.
The potato latkas was amazing and the smoked whitefish was super savory. The table was split on the steak – one person thought it was great, but another felt that the tastes didn't quite mesh. It was a great choice for my birthday, as they brought out a flight of dessert which made us feel special.
Great restaurant in every way.
Great charcuterie. Sat outside on patio on beautiful September evening. Friendly staff. Highly recommended.
Great price and great food! We went to the Pop up Dinner they have going on every Monday night and shared everything. Food was very reasonably priced and delicious. Great wine as well. Will be going back to sit on the patio with friends. Staff was super friendly and music was great. :-)
Great food, great wine, excellent waiter! Will definitely go back again.
I’ve dined here several times and it’s always a great experience. My only criticism this past time was in regards to seating preference/priority for reservations vs walk ins. I would expect that if I’m making a reservation, i would have preference of table over walk ins or seat me while I’m waiting for my date to arrive.
The food was late so they offered dessert on the house.
Really great place. Food and beers/drinks were exceptional. The back patio is really nice on a summer evening.
Extremely loud in the back dining area, more loud than is acceptable. Food is incredible and service is great.
Warm casual setting, but a touch unrefined. Good neighborhood destination with unusual Alpine-referenced menu. Each dish offered a unique flavor and while quantities were not over-generous, we shared nearly all of the dishes. Good bar menu as well. There appeared to be a nice garden and a small sidewalk seating area. Recommended.
This is one of the more inventive restaurants on the Chicago dining scene. Menu changes frequently, using what is currently fresh, and they aren't afraid to try unique/interesting ingredients in their dishes, which always seem to work so well with the dish. Wine list is always great, and if you aren't certain what you want with your meal, Matt is always spot on with his recommendations. Definitely a do not miss restaurant.
This is our "go to" place! A hidden gem that never disappoints. Super food and fantastic service. We highly recommend TDandS.
Small place with very limited space between tables. To be honest, decor and ambiance seem a little dingy, and restrooms have moldy/stale odor. Food was overall a 3. Appetizers were great. Loved the charcuterie board with the cold meats and duck liver mousse. However, the small plates were very salty and main dishes (we had the salmon and pork) were average. Desserts were disappointing.
We stopped in for a drink and appetizer. Had a charcuterie board recommended by the chef. Great food, cool environment.
“Meh” service paired with a 50 min wait for three burgers for our group equals something I’ll never write home about. I read great reviews of the burger and I would rather eat at Culver’s. WAY better burgers elsewhere in Chicago with wait times that don’t equal almost an hour. Byeeee Felicia.
Meh, perhaps we’re not hip enough. This is basically a hole in the wall neighborhood spot with 4* prices. Even the menus (paper) were dirty and worn. We weren’t crazy about our only view of the bank of mismatched restaurant stainless fridges outside (and through a dirty window). Definitely wouldn’t go back.
The food is delicious and the staff is great. Get the sunflower bread—it is delicious! When the weather is right, the back patio is a cozy place to dine as well!
Great restaurant with a casual vibe and upscale food. Most everything we ate was delicious and the staff was very kind and responsive. Small food & drink menu's but great selections.
Table Donkey Stick has been winning us over -- the summer menu is just fantastic. There's nothing bad on the menu and the strawberry dumpling dessert special is truly spectacular. I also appreciate that they'll make me mocktails when I can't drink.
Everything was amazing and the staff was extremely helpful.
Our server was friendly, helpful and efficient. The food was spectacular, from the charcuterie board to the asparagus salad to both the halibut and the suckling pig. We were at a table right by the host stand, and even the hostess helped out when needed. I look forward to returning when the weather is better and sitting out back.
Always better than I expect. And I have high expectations.
Enjoyed every part of the experience. The charcuterie was to die for.
One of my favorites. This place never disappoints. They have a great staff and amazing food/drinks.
Delishes and creative food . Very yammi. Cozy restaurant, great for a date and a group. Rotating menue, cool drinks and huge wine and beer list.
Definitely will be coming back over and over.
Great food, great service, if you’re in the mood for small plates and an awesome charcuterie board this is your place.
Inventive dishes, knowledgeable & friendly staff, great beverage program. They have a lovely patio, but unfortunately we couldn't get a seat even though there were tables available throughout our visit. Not sure how to specify that on the reservation. So we took a table with a view of the patio and had to contend with the door to it slamming every five seconds. This is a lovely place, and we will definitely return, but next time I'll call in the reservation so we get the full experience.
It was muddy in back where we sat.
Went on a Monday night, thus having an opportunity to enjoy the burgers of the week. Had a couple meats, a couple cheeses, a couple burgers, and a lovely evening.
Great service, great food, great experience as always. Tds is stellar. My favorite restaurant
It was delicious. Everything was great, the best burger ever. Definitely pricey but an experience not worth missing. The wait staff was super informative and happy help parse the menu. I went with a lot of their suggestions and was very impressed.
Went for my birthday with the family. Fun, little spot. The first appearance is a bar, but behind the bar holds a cute dining area, indoors and outdoors. We decided to sit outdoors, and we luckily sat in the corner, probably the best place to sit in my opinion. First impression: noise level was quiet but still busy. The waiter was nice, humorous, but quiet and hard to hear. Took us a while to decide and order; the waiter recommended three to five items on each side of the page. The bread and cheese were the BEST! All the food was very unique and delicious. Grilled lamb leg with the lentils and creamed chard and the potato latkes were delicious. For dessert, I was given a manchego and quince ice cream which was uniquely delicious (I was the one to finish it). We all enjoyed the rose and rhubarb ice cream. Overall, the food was delicious, but I was stuffed in the end. I would recommend only ordering three items on each side (we ordered five on each). For sure a hidden gem I would recommend to all my friends and for sure return to!
I wanted to love this place, but after all would likely not return. We celebrated a very special occasion and indicated that in our reservation, yet there was no acknowledgment of it whatsoever. The oat bread was so burnt, only half of it was edible, the halibut itself was cold when served. We ordered desert, but it just seemed it like a disconnect to to menu. Tried to order wine by the glass and weren’t really sure of the different options, but no advise/recco was given. $200 dinner that was mediocre at best
Chris was a terrific server, the support staff was on point, and all of the food was amazing. We had a great experience. The duck liver mousse alone is worth coming back for.
