I absolutely enjoyed celebrating my birthday dinner. The restaurant decor and service was wonderful. Victor was amazing in assisting us with suggestions. The vegetable paella was a delight. The Caipirinha was a tasty pre dinner cocktail, thank you for making a good Caipirinha bartender! I absolutely enjoyed my celebration birthday dinner. The restaurant decor was very nice. Victor was very helpful providing suggestions. Victor suggested a red wine that was very nice. A special thank your to all staff for making my birthday special. The vegetable paella was so good. Our tapas dinner selection was very nice would return again.
Courteous professional staff with excellent service. Great food. I would avoid the daily special, the quality was below standards.
This was our first time dining here and we will definitely be back! It was authentic Spanish food which was well prepared with nice size portions. The restaurant had a true Spanish ambience in the decor. The staff was attentive. It was a bit pricey though. I am allergic to all seafood so I would love to see them add more meat and vegetarian dishes to the menu, especially chicken dishes. I would recommend this restaurant.
Food was amazing and service super friendly! Definitely wanna go back for brunch
We go for the Paella and stay too long for the dessert wine. Hands down the best Paella in DC.
Old school feeling, waiters wear suits and are professionals. Food is excellent. If you order paella, the portions are too big. You only need paella for one person and two can eat. The other diner can order tapas. Overall a great experience.
Fantastic food and service. Great for outdoor seating during these times
Great food and excellent service. Very courteous and friendly staff
Having lived many years in Spain, when I want to go “home” to Madrid, all I have to do is go to Taberna del Alabardero. Excellent food, ambiance, and service. For me the staff is family.
Bravo, Taberna, for lovely outdoor service. Taberna built a wonderful covered space with high open sides that will serve for a delightful patio lunch or dinner well beyond the covid pandemic. As always, the tapas and the fideuas and paellas were wonderful- we especially like the oxtail and mushroom paella and the seafood arroz in squid ink. Also, we have found Taberna food to be among the best delivery/carryout options in the area. It travels well.
The tapas and entrees at this Spanish themed restaurant were absolutely outstanding. In addition, the service was attentive, polite, and detailed without being obsequious or obtrusive. We started with delicious tapas of classic boquerones (vinegar/olive oil soaked anchovies) that were marinated additionally with lemon and decorated with olives. In addition, we enjoyed wonderfully spiced shrimp tapas. My dinner partner ordered the branzino fillet with fresh vegetables and I had the rib-eye served with a generous side of asparagus and a copious side of sautéed mushroom. Everything was wonderfully prepared and exactly as we requested. I only wish that I could have tried more dishes so will need to return soon!
It was my first visit back since I retired and left Washington in 2014. We were not disappointed. Delicious food (tapas, salmon, squid and paella), wines and gracious European service.
We went for my husband's birthday and had a blast. The service was impeccable and the food was so delicious. We went on a Saturday so that we could sit outside and listen to the flamenco guitarist. Even though we were seated outside, the ambience was very charming and romantic. We were stuffed after our main courses, so we did not order dessert, but the waiter was kind enough to bring out a plate of small cookies and cupcakes with Happy Birthday written in chocolate sauce.
It was definitely priced for a special occasion, so I wouldn't say we could eat there every day, but I can't wait to go back for another celebration.
Delicious food, great atmosphere and awesome service!
We were disappointed with the food and service. For the price they are charging and what they are offer was outrageous. The worst was when paella came out. It was gooey and undercooked. The server didn't even come out to ask how it was. And it wasn't busy at all. To pay $84 for that was pretty stupid. Never again. FYI.- They add automatic tip to their bill. I noticed it once I got home that i tipped them twice for their subpar food and service.
There's a reason why we keep returning. Taberna Alabardero is a great place!
Best traditional Spanish food in the USA. Ambience and decor is so Madrid!
The food was fantastic, and the service was impeccable!!
Paella is sub-par and overpriced
Lovely dinner. Expensive. Waited a bit between finishing and getting the bill. That said, we know you’re staffing up and you e all been through such trauma this year that we wanted to support and applaud your efforts. Already recommended it to foodies. Stay safe
I took my husband here for his birthday and he loved it. He’s already talking about the next time we’re going.
Saturday brunch! Great service and tasty food. There brunch deal and bottomless is amazing. Loved the tapas selection as well as the cheese & charcuteries. My dish, Pollo en salsa de cerveza con patatas, chicken was very juicy and the sauce was delicious. Absolutely recommend for brunch. Will definitely try for dinner in the future.
Prefer our entrees to be delivered hot not lukewarm to our table. Especially the paella and fish.
Impeccable service, amazing dishes from tapas to dessert!
It was truly fantastic! I noted that it was a two year anniversary. We arrived to a corned table, covered in rose petals, a card especially for us. It was truly a warm sight! The service was great, the food was even better than I remembered. The attention to detail was impressive. We were happily pleased!
Good atmosphere and good food and beer. Happy hour deal.
Can’t say enough about our recent dining experience. Our waitstaff was superb- made for a fine evening out. Food was very good and healthy. We’ll be back next time we’re in DC! A shout out to Victor- our server. Thank you!
Food and service were exceptional. It might be helpful to tell diners that a 20% gratuity would be added to the check.
I’m from Spain, and it felt like being back home. We shared tapas, and they were authentic and delicious. The service was wonderful as was the ambiance. I can’t wait for the store to open!
We sat outside on the patio and it was a wonderful experience. The tables are very well distanced apart and all of the wait staff was very professional and masked. The food and wine (especially the squid and paella!) were divine. We were able to take as long as we wanted - no rush to seat the next party. Highly recommend!
Great tapas and very nice wait staff.
Lovely lunch! Tapas were great. The two entrees with Branzino and vegetables were delicious!! Service was fab.
Always a special place great for celebrations. The food is always delicious with outstanding wait staff and service!
Food went beyond expectations and they were able to accommodate me before my reservation time which was great!!!
The food was good. The tapas were very good, especially the shrimp. I wanted to try some of the other dishes but I was full. Some of the waitstaff need to be retrained. Asked for ice water six (6) times. really ??? Ridiculous, the same for the ice tea, I repeatedly had to ask for basic refreshments. Not really lucky in that department. They switched out the staff and the late staff was way more attentive. The afternoon shift needs more work. Try the raisin bread, very good.
It was wonderful to experience a really nice restaurant again.
A little pricey in my opinion. But food was great. Service good. Would definitely go back
There's a reason we keep returning to Taberna del Alabardero. Actually, there are several. The service, food, and wine are all outstanding. The carpets upstairs to the toilets could use replacing, though.
very american restaurant, no real spanish restaurant.
