Tabard’s Ale House
Poor service. Just a generic restaurant in a strip mall. The food was less then average.
Food is very good, nice happy hour, but was very loud when we were there for a more peaceful dinner.
Server lacked an innate rhythm/ability to read people.
Food was ok. Skirt steak was overly chewy, not fresh, either nuked or not tenderized.
Unwilling to order/time delivery of food to table as requested.
Neutral observation only: sorta loud for a Thursday night.
First time here. Had read great things about it on a Facebook group I belong to that recommends great places to eat. Was not disappointed! We were a party of 8, and everyone immensely enjoyed their food and service!
My girlfriend and I met another couple for drinks, stayed for dinner, which let to more drinks. It surprisingly wasn't that busy and had lots of open tables. It's always better to have a reservation vice showing up to stand by the bar for a long time. I've already told my friends about the great time. They had a list of beers I haven't had. I sampled the Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier Dunkel, then drank 5 more glasses of it. Amazing. I'm taking my buddies next month when they fly in. The coffee burger was delicious. I usually stick to ordering and eating the same damn thing everywhere we normally go. I stepped outside of my comfort zone and was pleased with my decision. I'll order it again.
Eclectic menu, excellent food and service. I recommend the Bourbon Barrel Steak Sandwich and the BBQ Chicken Pizza.
Great food! Our waiter was great. Happy Hour prices were good as well!
Food and service was excellent. However, the noise level was so high, you couldn't hold a conversation with the person sitting right next to you.
While getting lots of positive press right now - Tabard's Ale House is a solid new addition to the Overland Park pub scene. The afternoon we were there (Saturday) - it was packed and lots of folks makes for lots of noise. Be prepared to have "loud conversations" as it is a rambunctious crowd! The food was good and parts of it were great. We started with the pretzels and they were hot and delicious. The French Dip sandwich was excellent and while they call one of their sides "cajun fries" - that does not mean they are spicy. Instead it means they are double fried with a batter layer. Hot and tasty but don't be scared off by the word "cajun". The jerk pork skewers were overcooked and tough so would not recommend those and their burgers may be magnificent unless you want just a plain cheeseburger. When you remove all the custom fixin's - the burgers are better almost anywhere else. Also had the wedge salad as an entree. For the price - I expected a large wedge but instead it was small - only 1/8th of the iceberg lettuce head. I expected a 1/4 size. It was delicious however so I do recommend it.
What would make a server in a restaurant think it is acceptable to call me "sweetie"? I find this highly offensive and it soured the entire experience at Tabard's for me. The food was good, however, the room was loud, the table cards were unclear about when Happy Hour was and wasn't, and the staff, as noted, was obnoxious.
We really wanted to like this place.
We have been to Tabard's Ale House 3 times in the past two weeks. First for a debate watch party in their wonderful large room with many screens to watch; next for a delightful happy hour to watch the women't soccer semi final game and lastly, for Brunch and to watch the women's Soccer final game. All had very tasty food; wonderful service and a great place to watch. We are thrilled to find a local place so close to home with great food and many screens to watch things we cannot see at home.
Great food; great service; space for small or large groups; variety of local beers that change from time to time.
Their Happy Hour is awesome, great specials and food! Will definitely return - thanks!
Service was great. We would definitely go back!
What. Great comfortable place! Food was very good, and the selection was big enough for everyone to chose and be happy. Fish and chips we on point, and the order was huge!
They have a great beer selection and the margaritas were delicious! The food was hit and miss. The crawfish and andouille sausage pasta was very good. However, the shrimp dish that was a soup was not very good. The asparagus and the potatoes were both cold. Overall, it was alright.
Great service with lots of TVs to watch sporting events. Great food!
Love this place! Wide variety of food choices. Excellent quality. A hidden gem in Overland Park! Extensive draft and bottled beer selection as well. Avacado fries are amazing. Salads are large and fresh. Friendly staff. Prompt service.
I really enjoyed the food at Tabard's Ale House. I went on a Friday evening, just after Happy Hour ended. It seems more like a place to go with work colleagues, or a casual dinner date. It was busy and energetic, but we were seated right away and had service very quickly. I had the steak tacos, which were the best I had ever had. The steak had just the right amount of grilled char on them, with fresh avocado and a very nice chipotle sauce. Everything complimented each other perfectly.
I also had their fried ice cream. Their ice cream is not made by them, but whatever ice cream they are bringing in is very good quality.
The food is excellent, and I will definitely come back and try more dishes.
Service was pathetic. Waited for quite some time for the waiter to start. The restaurant was not that busy. After finally asking for appetizers, we again waited so long that my husband finally got up and got the waiter who had a look on his face like he had forgotten...waited some more....management comes out and tells us that 1 or our 2 appetizers are not available. Had to ask for plates with our appetizers....
Waiter never check on us after we finally got our meal...the whole experience it was a hot mess!
The food and service were above average, but it was impossible to converse.
Food was excellent and they have a great patio. The inside lacks a bit of personality but we sat outside and had a great dinner. Will definitely be back soon.
Party of 4 came on a very slow evening and sat outside, so no real comment on the noise. Server was very attentive and food was very good. Good vibes from the inside decor.
Joined for a holiday lunch and to celebrate news of a new baby on the way. Good variety across the menu to suit all appetites. Staff was highly attentive despite being busier than expected. We will definitely return, likely to sample the happy hour fare.
Very accommodating to our party. The service was great and the food outstanding. Next time we’re in Kansas we will definitely be back.
Fantastic meal. Fantastic Service. Jerk Pork was amazing. Very unique flavor combinations.
This was our first visit. Inside was noisy, so we sat on the patio. The food, drinks and service were very good. We've recommended Tabards to our friends and will come back.
First time and definitely worth a trip back to try other menu items. Solid service and clean
Great place! Sat outside on this beautiful day and enjoyed great food, service and a visit from the owner. Highly recommend!!
The food was good. We will be back.
This place is new but you wouldn’t know ! They had great service and the owner also checked on us. Super nice:) The food was delicious. They have so much variety on their menu! I had the coffee burger. It was amazing !!! I can’t wait to come back and you something different.
Tabard's food was quite tasty, although what I ordered was a little salty. (Poutine). We came during happy hour and the prices were great, however the first glass of house wine was good, the second glass was not good. Service was good. Great casual place to eat
Great food and service, it is a little noisy in the restaurant.
Great food and happy hour specials. Pretty noisy.
Came in for lunch, great sandwiches and onion rings. Service was perfect.
We had a reservation yet we had to wait even though the table we were seated at was open. People who walked in were seated before us. There was not enough wait staff to accommodate the patrons. We wondered if our waitress went on break. Our order was mixed up and frustrated even our server. Most people at our table really liked their food. I ordered the bourbon steak sandwich and it was dry, over cooked and flavorless. When a banner is hung outside that you are serving Brunch, more than 4 or 5 items should be on the menu. The manager should schedule staff to accommodate hungry people especially when you are a few store fronts from First Watch who always has an overflow crowd on Sundays. There is a market for success for Tabard's but from my experience they blew it!
