   We looked forward to spending my birthday at Syn rooftop bar on a Wednesday evening. The views, colors, ambiance were beautiful and the couch and table set up was intentionally designed to "gather", just like the website mentions. Unfortunately, the excitement wore off as the five of us waited over 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive. While waiting for our drinks, the lights dimmed at 8pm on a Wed. and the music was cranked up so loud we could no longer hear each other even sitting next to one another on the couch. I let our server know it was my birthday and my birthday wish was for the music to be turned down so I could catch up with everyone. She said she would ask the manager. The drinks finally arrived. They were nuanced and delicious, but not worth the wait as we drank them in near silence after boring of shouting. Our appetizers (Ricotta and raisin bread, truffle french fries and deviled eggs) were good. We took pictures on the outdoor terrace but ultimately decided to leave early and find another spot to gather to catch up and get another drink. Disappointing.

   It's beautiful in this bar and the view is amazing. The music was way too loud though. The drinks and service were amazing.

   A fun place for a great cocktail, small plates, and a fantastic view from the rooftop with the mountains on one side and Reston and Tyson's on the other.

   Recently went to check out this rooftop lounge. The day was gray but the views are good and once the summer comes it is a nice spot to hang out after work or on the weekend. It wasn’t very busy when I was there (maybe due to the weather) but the wagyu sliders were very good and my lemon drop was lovely. It is pricey for the drinks for the size you get. There was a lot of staff just standing around not only in the lounge but the restaurant too. It’s clear they are new and I think things will improve with time. The manager of SYN is lovely and I will definitely be coming back when the sun is shining to take advantage of the lovely rooftop views.

   I had high hopes for SYN Rooftop and made a reservation over a month in advance to celebrate my birthday. I originally booked a table for two and later tried to add guests, but there was no option to modify the reservation. I assumed it was due to high demand and let it go. This was my first night out since having a baby, and my husband and I were so excited. I even left a note requesting a table with a nice view for the occasion. We were just a few minutes late due to childcare—parent life!—but couldn’t find a phone number to call. Still, with a 10-minute grace period, I thought we were okay. To my surprise, the reservation was canceled at 8:33 PM—just three minutes past. I quickly rebooked for 8:45 PM online. When we arrived, the space wasn’t busy. There were several open lounge tables and chairs. At the host stand, a staff member (possibly a lounge server) suggested we just sit at the bar, saying, “It’s just a lot of us are almost done.”...It was 8:45 P.M. and they close at 11 P.M... It didn’t feel like “no” was an option, so we agreed. The experience fell short of expectations. The bar menu lacked items I was most looking forward to, like the short ribs I’d seen online. I had one cocktail (very good, but pricey), and while the barback was kind, most bartenders kept to themselves. Ultimately, it didn’t feel like the special night I had envisioned. I couldn’t help but glance at the empty lounge area and wonder why we weren’t offered something better—especially after so much planning.

   No blue cheese stuffed olives for martini! That was sad. Little noisy and I was expecting more to the menu although the food was good. Service was decent. Not a bad place but I think I was expecting more.

   Tried the new Syn rooftop bar at the AC Hotel in Reston which was disappointing. Very limited liquor selection and wine by the glass selection was terrible. No wine by the bottle, no outdoor heaters. I’ve been to other 7 Reasons group restaurants which were good so this was shocking. Don’t be fooled by their beautiful website.

As a point of clarification, we are not affiliated with the 7 Reasons restaurant group, though we’re honored to be compared to such well-regarded establishments. We do have a bottle menu that will be rolling out very soon, which we hope will provide a broader selection for our guests. As for outdoor heating, we currently only offer it by our fireplace on the terrace, and we’re actively exploring ways to make the space even more comfortable.    Has potential but still needs to work out operational kinks. Food was good, drinks arrived towards the end of our meal. Loud traditional bar setting. Rooftop outdoor space nice.

    The drinks & food were delicious! The problem was the service. It took forever to get our drinks, and the waitress was chatting with the hostess most of the time. We had to get her attention a few times. But we would return for the food & drinks.
