The food was great and our waiter was very friendly and helpful. However, we had a reservation for 10:30 (the time the place opens) and were the first seated but didn’t get our food until after 11:30. Surrounding tables came and went before our food was served. And with no explaination.
Classic French Quarter experience...excellent food and lighting.
Excellent service and food. The mahi was outstanding.
Great food, outstanding bartender, friendly. Stay the afternoon
A great taste of the reborn New Orleans! Take your time. ;-)
Yet another amazing experience at a Leblanc and Smith establishment. This team has dialed in the food and atmosphere at their restaurants. Every single dish that I had was amazing. My boss, who had never eaten at Sylvain and considers himself a foodie could not stop raving about the crudo and the hangar steak. It is also plain to see that I’m not the only one who feels like this as the place was packed on a Monday night. Do yourself a favor and eat at Sylvain-you won’t be disappointed (but make reservations cause it will be packed)!
Food was great. Waiter awesome and amazing wine. Clean and very nice
Great food and service. Only thing to mention, a bit dark inside (bring a flashlight to read the menu).
Great location. Great atmosphere. Low lighting. Very cozy. Good service.
Plates not HOT: Good food, however the plates were only room temperature and the food was NOT hot enough - I had to send it back to get heated up. In better restaurants, hot food is served HOT on very hot plates with steam rising. Cold plates for salads, but HOT plates for hot food.
They do the hard part well - cook delicious food - however, I am surprised that a restaurant of this calibre hasn't figured out the hot plate piece by now. Servers should have to wear insulated gloves to avoid burning themselves and should always to have to tell the customer to watch out for the hot plates. This should be easy for them to fix. Maybe I'm the only one who feels this way. The menu, including drinks was great.
Great service, good food, good time
Dinner to celebrate a 31st birthday. Everything was delicious and our waiter was amazing! We were on the patio, which is a beautifully secluded area at the back of the restaurant.
We had a great experience at Sylvain! The waiter made good recommendations and I needed a vegetarian option. I had pasta with vegetables and they were awesome. We also really loved the antipasta, which had great vegetables on it as well as homemade mustard, meats and cheeses. We ate outside which was lovely. Very good experience - our new favorite NO restaurant!
Awesome place! Lunch at the bar was great! Awesome bartender!
We loved the ambiance and food was fantastic!
Friendly, attentive service.
Great food and service!!
Loveliest Sunday brunch! Terrific food and amazing Bloody Mary. Great staff.
Great resturante, quality food and amazing staff. Great Sunday brunch as well.
Music is too loud.
I cannot say enough good things about this place! Amazing cocktails, incredible service, and the most creative, delicious food I’ve had!
Small restaurant in Chartres Street, with a lovely back patio. Service and food outstanding!
Randomly chose this based on a GREAT website representative of the feel and look of the actual restaurant. Could not be happier with our experience. What a great spot! Funky room with interesting decor and a phenomenal locale. Staff was outstanding.
Delicious, fresh food and great drinks! Loved the courtyard seating.
The music was excellent and the antipasti platter was totally different than the norm! We were in our honeymoon and enjoyed the experience completely!
The food was fresh and excellent. The beef cheeks were tender and flavorful. The steak cooked perfectly, and extremely tender. The eggplant appetizer was fresh and lightly crispy. Every morsel on the antipasto plate was delectable.
Our Waiter and the food delivery people were excellent. The bar tender took care of us, but did not seem to appreciate our business. The host was arrogant, and when we showed up with an extra on our reservation, nearly sent us away or has us eat at the bar. There were loads of seats even as we left. It’s not fun to feel like you are LUCKY to get to spend your money at a business.
I’ll go again though- everything else outweighed the petty man at the start.
We had a great meal at Sylvain- it was definitely a place where we could go and NOT feel like tourists. The menu was creative and just southern enough to remind us where we were. I would definitely go back!
Great meal, fun server. It was a little cold inside and a little tight but still a very cool spot. We will be back.
Overall had a great meal here - the fish of the day was the real winner on the menu for us. We were a little bummed that they had sold out of a few items by the time our 8:15 reservation rolled around, but we know to book earlier in the evening next time.
Service and food were great but restaurant is a too dark. Be warned, cocktails are are served in deceiving small glasses, but are potent!
I noticed some of the other comments about the food not being hot, and I experienced the same thing when went in to Sylvain. The plates and the food were cold, which was weird since this place was highly recommended online and in travel books I've read. When we finished our two entrees, the manager came by to clear them and noticed we weren't totally happy with the food. We told her the food was cold and she was extremely nice about it and comped our starter. We really should had said something earlier in the meal, but the food was good enough (even cold) so we didn't think to complain. Having cold plates and food though is really a no-no when you're competing with other restaurants in New Orleans. Most places keep plates in the oven before plating food or minimum keep them under a heat lamp. It seems like such an obvious thing to have hot food so I was very surprised when they didn't. Hopefully they have noticed the issue and taken care of it.
Went to Sylvain for a joint birthday and Valentine’s day date with my boyfriend. We enjoyed wonderful cocktails and appetizers and wine with our entrees. The ambiance was perfect. While at first we had the impression the waitstaff was trying to rush us through our evening, they paced everything out well and let us enjoy an after-dinner digestif without feeling hurried. The only downside was that they ran out of the market fish early into the evening as well as one of the other entrees, so be aware of this when timing your reservation.
Always a great meal and wonderful atmosphere, even more so on Mardi Gras day! Thanks for being open and letting us hang there on the Fat.
Everything was perfect - waitress made accommodations for a food allergy and we had a blast.
One of the best lunch spots in Nola
Best meal and dining experience in NOLA this trip.
Enjoyed the atmosphere and food - casual fine dining with excellent cocktails- would definitely return
A typical laid back French Quarter eatery. Good, but nothing special. Maybe a B grade.
Made reservations on line so easy. Biscuit and gravy were awesome. Chicken was excellent and crispy pork shoulder on grits were to die for. We will definitely go there again and recommend to all my friends. Service was excellent and friendly. Great job. Jason was our server.
We were seated immediately, despite being nearly 30 mins late for our reservation (we got stuck behind Mardi Gras floats crossing the Crescent City bridge). The food, cocktails, ambiance, and service were all stellar, as usual. This is one of our favorite dining spots in New Orleans.
Very different and interstellar menu. Meal was outstanding
