My husband and I had a fantastic time. Dinner was good, the band and music was great and dancing just pure fun. The dance lesson was and extra bonus and it was awesome watching the varying levels of swing dancers on the floor. Excellent seating and a really nice night out.
great night and the music was fabulous we enjoyed our evening tremendously-thank you
We love George Gee swing Music. This is the main reason we are coming all the way from Germany.
I had so much fun. It’s great because you get to have an environment where it brings you back in time but in a modern setting. I love it so much. Definitely 10/10 plus the food is bloody amazing.
Fun place for a little swing music and dancing. Veteran musicians who enjoy what they are doing .
The staff were surly, the décor has seen better days, the food was plentiful if a little overpriced, but the music? The music was fabulous. George Gee and his 17 piece swing orchestra, just brilliant. George gives lovely backgrounds to each piece he chooses and clearly loves music. As do the others in his orchestra. They played on a little stage, spilling onto the dance floor and it was just fab. Couple of swing dancers danced so well, they encouraged others out there too, lovely to watch. In the interval, they had a swing dance teacher to show you how to bust some moves if you wanted to. 2 chicken dinners and a bottle of red, coupled with $15 each cover charge for the music made the bill $160. Not sure what the music is like on other nights, but would recommend first Thursday in each month for George, and any other night he's there tbh. x
The pace is amazing!!
The live music was great! I recommend!
I go there just for their outstanding vegan lasagna as it is one of the best vegan dishes I have ever had. My omnivore husband enjoyed his food also - one night the seafood risotto and another their ribs. The food is nice and hot when delivered to the table which goes a long way towards enjoyment. We visit every time we are visiting NYC and Broadway.
The manager/owner was rude to the staff as we overheard him basically yelling at wait staff and the host - all of whom were very nice to us. The first show was a dinner theater type thing and ran late so we didn’t get to stay for the band.
The food was not good and steaks were over cooked. We asked for medium and I would say it bordered on well done. The vegetables were very good was only saving grace. The desserts were not very good. I thought the price paid did not match the quality. Drinks were ok not great.
The tables for two in the front are very close together. We felt uncomfortable discussing things personally without the people next to us overhearing. Especially not being the room where the show was.
We were disappointed in this meal and experience and wish we had gone elsewhere.
A reliable option for live music and dancing near Times Square, though the atmosphere seems somewhat tired and frozen in the 70s or 80s. Menu offers some good varied dietary options but would like to see common allergens indicated on the menu. Service was friendly. With music charge, appetizers and 1 or two drinks it’s going to add up $$ like most of NYC. Still , there aren’t enough places like this in NYC that offer food, music and dancing.
Absolutely fabulous- one of the highlights of our trip to New York!
I was here many years ago. I forgot that only on Wednesdays do they have early dancing and big band. I have to come back some evening.
Great place to visit, and will definitely go when I’m in town again.
Great fun, swing lesson included, great food and drink but a little on the pricey side
whenever we go to NYC we go to Swing 46. This time we too friends who like big band. If you dance, great but if you just want to Listen and watch, great too. All food was great as usual especially brownie dessert. Never disappoints and staff and other guests are always friendly. Band was a bit loud this time, but not a problem.
Overall the energy was great and loved the live music component given that's why we went there. Service by waitress was not great. Maybe not enough staff but she did not come by very often and if she did it was hard to get her attention
A wonderful experience with delicious food! It was slightly tainted by one waiter who was very rude about the tip that we gave but otherwise the staff were lovely and made us feel very welcome! Thank you!
Ambiance 5 stars the music 5 stars drinks are strong g the way I like it 5 stars food I order the pork chop they hammered the chop really well done and super dry for me being a chef cocking the pork chop that way is a crime you should change your chef definitely
We had a wonderful night with excellent food and great live performances from the band!
To be honest we were a little disappointed with our evening at Swing 46.
We felt that we were intruding on a local swing club dance.
We paid a premium to dine by a dance floor.
The dance floor was mainly covered with tables and the remainder occupied by local dancers who appeared neither to be eating or purchasing drinks ?
This put us off dancing and we noticed the other diners not dancing and leaving early.
Plus it was so dark , we could not see our food.
Overall the experience could have been so much better.
Great if you like Live music specially jazz&swing
Wait staff a little slow on service despite having very few patrons but food was decent.
A great place for anyone who likes live swing music and dancing. I’m more of a listener than dancer and it was still so much fun!
Ambiance trop bruyante pour un repas en tête à tête . Le repas est plus que moyen par apport au prix payé !
Loved the live jazz music and the opportunity to take a 30 min swing dance lesson! The wine was overpriced but the food was great and cocktails were delicious. Would definitely return!
Loved the dining experience and the swing dance lessons. Too dark to,see my food though:(
Great music . The free swing class instructor I could do without. Not a true class should be fun. Go visit
Excellent, very good food, amazing show, kindness service
While the food was well prepared, I was shocked at the total lack of seasoning. The waitstaff was friendly, but inattentive.
Restaurant was not busy at all, but the service was slow and inattentive. Asked to get a refill on water glass and took almost 10 minutes to get it. Took as long to get our check--after we had to ask another server. Food OK, but nothing special--expected much better. Very good ambiance in the restaurant, however.
The vibe was great and the food good. The service was okay. I was a little disappointed to hear when I arrived that it would be an additional $15 per person if we wanted to sit in the room by the band. This should have been advised when I made the reservation. Since we were limited for time we sat in the front room and it was still very nice. I would give it another try when not as rushed but wasn’t overwhelmed.
this place has more of a cult following. there was a 15$ cover per person which, for the small amount of people there, didn't make much sense. drinks and appetizers were overpriced and the portions are small with the brownie dessert actually being a 'little debbie' 1$ brownie with some ice cream and hershey's syrup on it, truly a rip off.
My group of 13 were seated right up close and personal to the stage, and we had a great time enjoying the food, live music, people dancing, and the energy of the room. Pretty impossible not to have a good time!
I recommend Swing 46 for the music and fun atmosphere. The band, Crescent City Maulers, was fantastic, and we enjoyed dancing and mingling with the other patrons. The dance floor was good. We made reservations for supper and requested a table near the band. The service was acceptable. The food was not good, served in very small portions, and overpriced. My "grilled" asparagus appetizer had tough, woody stalks about a half inch thick, and was barely cooked (let alone grilled). My vodka cocktail was served warm. My husband's experience was a little better, with a decent scallop entree and cold bottled beer. There was a feeling of being "nickel and dimed" (e.g., $2 coat check, requirement to order entrees, and the tip was added to the bill for 2 people without notice). This place could benefit by improving menu and bar quality to provide a true supper club and dinner dance experience as advertised.
Another fantastic night! Our waiter Jonathan was attentive but never made us feel like he was rushing us out! Enjoyed the music and food! Can't wait to return!
Perfect place to end our trip to New York loved the ambience and great service
A fun way to spend an eveing in NYC! We took a swing dance lesson, then danced the night away to live music. If you love dancing and live music, this place is for you!
food pretty good, bar service a little slow, but the atmosphere in the evening was electric with a solid swing band and groovin dance floor!
Loved the atmosphere and food, great place.
