Contemporary American
Swine's mission is to attract a community of people from all New York City neighborhoods who have great taste and expect quality food and drink, but who enjoy spending time in a laid back neighborhood restaurant setting with people of like minds. The Swine team are all well-educated about Swine's food and beverage offerings, and are easy-going teachers able to guide guests through the experience. We combine food and drink selections at wide price points, amazing music, sexy ambiance, "rock and roll" vibe, but along with warm service to create a sense of "place" in order to reach our goal of being the fine food and beverage loving New Yorker's spot of choice. Swine is not a gimmick. Swine is the embodiment of its owners' ideas about where they and their friends would want to spend their time.

The food was decent - we got the chicken and pulled pork sliders (appetizer) - but nothing amazing. We were there during happy hour and were charged full price for alcohol because we weren't sitting at the bar. However, you can also order food at the bar, and we weren't told that happy hour is only at the bar. After arguing a bit, we got them to knock off a little bit of the price, but I still felt like they were trying to take advantage of us. There is a loud pinball machine in the back that totally destroys the ambiance of otherwise cozy couch seating. My recommendation for management is to a) put the machine elsewhere and b) have a separate menu for happy hour specials, because that would have sorted everything out immediately.

It's kind of a dive. The place smells of stale beer. But our sandwiches -- the bone marrow and brisket burger and the Cuban sandwich -- were amazing. The heirloom tomato salad would have been, too, if it hadn't been ice cold. Hasn't anyone told the chef that tomatoes never go in the refrigerator?

The food was great, however a bit of a limited menu. We had the tuna tacos (a bit too much spice and taco and not enough tuna), the shishito peppers (delicious), jamón ibérico (always great but not enough), curry chicken empanada (solid) and the burger. Burger was pretty good, not quite Spotted Pig but again, very solid. Server was a bit too short with us, seemed like he might be having a bad day. Also we were at the darkest table in the restaurant and it was hard to see anything on both the menu and our dishes. I'd go back, just not my favorite restaurant in the area.

Great food. Interesting mix for all types of eaters. Drinks were also creative and varied for different types of people. We really enjoyed the Bone Marrow. The environment is eclectic and cool and very comfortable for a smallish place. Service was good and I found the price reasonable for the quality and location.

I had made a reservation for Sunday Brunch for 7 including 2 youngsters. Upon arrival we were immediately seated in a cozy nook next to a Old Pinball Table. Great atmosphere, great background music (all 80's), every item we tried was superb. The bacon flight, deviled eggs and potato nachos were shared by the group....all were impressed by it. Hangover sandwich, the swine burger, and the French toast were ordered by diffferent people in the party and nobody was unhappy with their orders. The manager, who came to check on us multiple times, seemed to really care about our opinions and comfort. This will be our "go to" when visiting NY.

Dining in the West Village can be very hit-or-miss. Lots of places are attractive, and then the service stinks. Or the prices are high, no surprise given the astronomical rents they all have to pay. Swine has it all - great food, a pretty dining room, friendly staff, a terrific wine list, and reasonable prices. Everything we had was delicious, inventive without being just precious. Bacon-wrapped date - yes, you've had them before, but in a gooey maple glaze. Yummmm! (Gents, take off your ties, it may get messy. And no one else here is wearing one.) Brisket and bone-marrow burger - another sloppy slice of heaven. My appetizer flatbread, with oyster mushroom confit and arugula, was so addictive I almost refused to share it with my friends. Nice selection of wines by the glass, and our very friendly server gave us her recommendations with clarity. The dining room is handsome, with very attractive (and flattering) lighting. We went on the late side, so it wasn't crowded, which is great for those who like to hear their own conversation. Music was fun but muted, as was the crowd at the bar. I plan to go back often.

I came here once before on a horrible first date, but I remembered the food and service being good, so I wanted to come back with friends for brunch and a better experience - and it was great! Staff is extremely friendly, accommodating, and attentive. Food was delicious - the potato chip nachos are a greater starter - and we were never waiting on our drinks to be refilled, which was much appreciated when you only have two hours to get in that boozy brunch special at $25.

Went with three friends. The food was even better than we expected. Service: very good waiter, but poor guy was in the weeds whole time we were there, but he bent over backwards to make it work -- and nice in the process. The place, tho, is too dark and way too loud. We'll be back -- but for lunch or earlier in the evening.

Very disappointing. Menu is basic and generic. Overpriced food showed very little care or precision. Service disengaged/inattentive and disorganized. Kitchen also poorly organized - dishes not timed well, not arriving together. Admittedly a relatively large group of 8, but our orders were not complex and should have been handled without much difficulty. Also, just as an aside, don't be fooled by the name (as I was) - no interesting, thoughtful, or snout-to-tail type of pork dishes on the menu. For the price, you don't get much of a dining experience at all. Would not recommend.

My husband and I were looking for a place to have a casual date night, and the menu for this place caught my eye when browsing on Open Table. The food is delicious! We had a bunch of things off the menu that we really enjoyed, but the pork belly was a real highlight as were the cauliflower grits. The ambiance wasn't what I expected...walking in it definitely felt more like a noisy dive-y bar than a nice casual restaurant, which made how good the food was a welcome and surprising treat. Would definitely come back if I were in the neighborhood as well as recommend to a friend in the neighborhood. But because of the atmosphere, I'm not sure I'd recommend to a friend to go out of their way to go there.

So I have loved Swine, but this visit was not close to previous ones. Every time before the service was great. This time it was beyond slow and intermittent. Drinks were slow to make it to the table and then sat empty. I ordered the special which was flavorful, but just above room temp when it arrived. I hate this, because Swine was a go to place for me.

The cocktails were tasty, the nibbles were on point but the ambiance was lack luster, the pictures make it feel more swanky then it is. Feels more like a homeboy hang out then a date spot or a girls night out. Good for a pre dinner drink or happy hour.

Fun and helpful staff. Food was creative and ample. No small plates though all plates fit for sharing. We had about 5 or 6 different orders for 2 people and were beyond satisfied with portions. If you want to have a more intimate conversation though, be sure to sit downstairs. Upstairs in the bar area is a bit louder.

Ate here on a Sunday night, pretty sure they served us food that had been left over from the night before and then heated up that day. The pulled pork sliders were dry and burnt, the mac and cheese looked and tasted like it was from a box and they didn't even put bacon in it, although they charged an extra $3 for it. Overall probably not a bad place on a busy weeknight but it seemed like they didn't expect anyone to eat there as we were the only people In the restaurant and the food was a joke. Would probably not come back, even to see if it was just the night of the week.

Excellent service. We were running quite late but let us come in late with no problem. Eclectic selection available and we all enjoyed our selections. We accidentally over tipped as there was an included gratuity because of our party size but they pointed it out rather than just pocket the tip. Great place and great people.
