Great experience, all things considered. The tent was well heated and tables are spaced out. Food and service was great.
Beef Wellington is so amazing! Fantastic cocktails too
My boyfriend and I came for our anniversary. The staff is so accommodating for allergies and the food came on hot plates. This was especially nice because we were eating outside during winter. The drinks were great and unique. My only complaint is the price, for a steak house I felt like $400 was a bit much for dinner. We did get drinks and dessert but it was pretty pricey and not sure I would return again for that reason.
There was a noisy and disruptive man bemoaning his troubles and disrupting us and all other surrounding guests. No one did anything to remove him or ask him to stop. $250 for a dinner and a show we didn’t want to see or hear.
Only downside is overpriced drinks. $18 for a small martini? Not good.
Food is amazing. Always have nice servers.
We tried to get the igloos but it’s not an option apparently. So arriving and finding out the hard way was disappointing. The tent was nice enough though so fine, whatever. Server seemed great until his friends were sat at the table next to us. Could barely be torn away from chatting to bother taking our orders or even bringing our drinks. I had to literally wave him down and beg for wine to accompany my oysters that had been there awhile. And the oysters. West coast were phenomenal. East coast were literally bad. Like old. I’ve lived in Boston. I know what oysters should taste like. I ate them despite my better judgement and was sick for 2 days. The rest of our meal was ok. My husband loved his burger. My salmon was over cooked which seems surprising they wouldn’t know how to cook salmon properly but it was medium well and dry. The Brussels sprouts were amazing. My espresso was bitter and had clearly sat too long. The espresso martini I replaced it with was great. They tried. But I’ll go anywhere else next time.
Loved our waiter!!! Gave great genuine wine recommendations to pair with our steaks! Forget his name but was a blonde-ish male, thank you for a GREAT experience! Ranked in my top 3 steaks ive had for sure
Food was as good as always. The outdoor setup was very good and very comfortable despite cold weather.
Enjoyed the outdoor dining in the yurt! It was beautifully done and private firm a New Year’s Day date. The 5 course meal was suburb and I thoroughly enjoyed the dessert of a chocolate soufflé paired with peppermint ice cream.
OMG the Beef Wellington was amazing!! Plus the Creamed spinach and Fries with the Bordelaise sauce too. Definitely have to go with the rock shrimp to start too.
Girlfriend and me went there for our New Year dinner. We ordered Oysters, Japanese Wagyu, 22oz bone in rib eye steak, side of fries and some cocktails. It was delish! To make the new year fabulous, a gentleman named Stefan paid for our whole bill randomly! Happy New Year to us!!
Even though they were running 45 min behind, Swift & Sons never let their food be affected. We LOVE coming here! Thank you for a magnificent evening!
Best steak I’ve ever eaten. Sat outside but wasn’t cold.
All things considered - a snowy winter night with seating in the cabana - we were warm, greeted graciously, and well fed. I wish it was easier fort he S & S team, but they did a great job and the food as superb.
Food and atmosphere was amazing. I love that they place portable ductwork around the whole base of the tent with vents. Perfect for keeping feet warm and in addition they have heat lamps. Im always cold and was initially nervous sitting at table in front of the opening/walk-in but to my surprise it was just as comfy as dinning in. Best all around experience:)
Outdoor tent not well ventilated..not sure of airflow during COVID. HOWEVER, food and service was outstanding as always.
Great staff and the food was delicious. They did everything to make our dinner enjoyable. Couldn’t ask for more!
Great service from the moment we walked in until the moment we left. The host, the manager, the wait staff were all superb. Food was excellent although expensive. Will be back here when we celebrate the next special occasion. Highly recommend!
Second time dining here, just as good as we remembered. Highly recommend.
Outstanding as always
The food was amazingly delicious and above our expectations. We will definitely come back to dine.
We dined outdoors which was a little windy but a wonderful experience. First time eating A5 Wagyu and it was unreal. Everything was good. This is right up their with Bavette’s in my mind which is my favorite steakhouse in chicago.
The service and food was incredible as always! Thank you Swift and Sons for a great experience once again.
I give a bit of slack considering the times have been tough for the restaurant industry. However, if you are going to be paying decent money at least acknowledge the celebration after telling both the host and the waiter twice. He also forgot a couple of other things after asking multiple times. Also, he recommended a wine that we didn’t realize was $20 a glass! Insane. Overall, we were disappointed that they didn’t at least acknowledge the birthday after spending quite a bit. It was a very simple ask. I wouldn’t go back for another celebration.
The food was fantastic and the staff was terrific. It was a great night.
Food was exceptional... crab legs, whipped sweet potatoes, pappardelle, French onion soup, apple salad, and wedge salads. Tables were nicely separated, heat lamps were aplenty. Only issue, and it was minor, was the rather loud 80s music.
Dinner for one and a date with myself has never been so perfect! The waiter offered to serve me a half portion of sides so I would not have excessive leftovers. This kind of attention to detail is why I am a returning customer. You never let me down; party of ten or party of one - it’s always an amazing experience!
Great food, great service! Definitely will come back in the future.
I booked a reservation here to celebrate our anniversary. My husband has been DYING to try beef Wellington for years and Swift and Sons is one of the few places that has it on their menu. Upon arriving (5 minutes early to our 4 o’clock reservation) we were seated on the patio which was nice. We were one of 3 tables. We placed our drink order and our drinks arrived in good time. Then we sat, for 40 minutes. While we wore masks for 30 minutes waiting to order, looking at every employee who walked past us without being acknowledged. There were no less than 6 employees who regularly walked past us (no less than 40 times between them). So my husband downs the rest of his drink, for the sole purpose of someone coming to our table to offer a refill that we could order our food. Nothing. Another 20 minutes went by. We were beyond frustrated and ready to leave at this point. My husband gets up to go find someone to take our order and immediately is acknowledged by an employee who points to the far door and says bathrooms are over there. To which my husband responds “I don’t need to use the bathroom I need someone to take our order” he was told someone would be sent over. 5 minutes later someone comes and takes our order and we are told it will take 45 minutes for the beef Wellington. By the time our food arrived we were starving and pretty irritated. The food was delicious. My husband had the beef Wellington and sweet potatoes. I had the wagyu with mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts. All of which were great. We spent $250 for dinner on a special occasion, and despite the food being phenomenal our mood was not due to the complete lack of service. Had they been busy we would have completely understood for the lack of attention. But they were completely over staffed & nobody ever stopped at our table to see if we needed anything to the point we genuinely questioned if we were invisible. We had looked forward to this dinner for 2 months & we left disappointed at the experience.
We live about a block away have eaten here many times but I wanted to call out our experience a few weeks ago shortly after indoor dining was shut down. We ate outside on the patio and they restaurant couldn't have been more accommodating - making sure we had enough heaters, friendly service, and great food. The sincerity of our waiter telling us how much the restaurant appreciates our business during the pandemic almost had us all a bit choked up. The wait staff is under so much pressure to follow guidelines to keep us safe and yet they provided the same high level of service I would expect in normal times. This is an A+ restaurant from the food to service to ambiance (even outside!). Please continue going here as I would hate to see this establishment be a victim of pandemic shut downs.
Great food & service. We didn't have heat in our outdoor seating area like we were told we would, but I think there was a malfunction outside of their control. They provided dessert on the house, which was appreciated.
Swift & Sons always makes us feel special. The staff are wonderful and friendly and offer us just the right level of attention. The king crab legs are always super fresh, as are the oysters. The wedge salad is easy to share for two. Carrara wagyu was delicious, as was the filet mignon. Can't go wrong here with any cut of steak. Marcello's wine recommendations were perfect with our meal. LOVE IT HERE and really hoping Swift and Sons and the rest of our favorite BOKA Group restaurants will be able to weather this terrible COVID-19 storm.
excellent meal!! wish we didnt have to be done early bc of covid curfew. Would have liked to be in main dining are VS side room.
Service and food was excellent however front of the house was disorganized. They didn’t know what was going on with reservations, didn’t have clear answers or directions. They need to fix that to improve overall customer experience
Amazing food and service. Waiter was very helpful in food and drink selections. All around great experience. Highly recommend Swift and Sons.
This review is really limited to the present Covid conditions. I love SS generally so please take this as limited. The outside tented area felt like we were guests at a parking lot pot luck dinner. I understand that money is tight and the restaurants are doing everything they can to stay afloat, but erecting a tent, throwing out some uneven tables and chairs w/o tablecloths, and a heater that doesn't heat, doesn't cut it when you are paying ~150 a person for dinner. I felt like there were so many missed opportunities: how about a hot tottie? Mulled wine? A little levity. Make it seem like apres ski. Something. Otherwise, the atmosphere was downright depressing. Inside was lovely as always, and the back patio area looked nice as well with heaters. So why was the front tented section so neglected? Not even a Halloween decoration. Food was good (a little salty this time), but difficult to enjoy in the setting.
Food and service was amazing
Not as many heaters as we were told when we made reservation
For such an expensive restaurant, having to sit outside with not enough heaters is not really acceptable. I understand the struggle for restaurants but I can't pay $100 for a steak that is cold because we have to eat outside. We love the restaurant but the outdoor situations without more heaters is not going to work.
