excellent meal!! wish we didnt have to be done early bc of covid curfew. Would have liked to be in main dining are VS side room.
Service and food was excellent however front of the house was disorganized. They didn’t know what was going on with reservations, didn’t have clear answers or directions. They need to fix that to improve overall customer experience
Amazing food and service. Waiter was very helpful in food and drink selections. All around great experience. Highly recommend Swift and Sons.
This review is really limited to the present Covid conditions. I love SS generally so please take this as limited. The outside tented area felt like we were guests at a parking lot pot luck dinner. I understand that money is tight and the restaurants are doing everything they can to stay afloat, but erecting a tent, throwing out some uneven tables and chairs w/o tablecloths, and a heater that doesn't heat, doesn't cut it when you are paying ~150 a person for dinner. I felt like there were so many missed opportunities: how about a hot tottie? Mulled wine? A little levity. Make it seem like apres ski. Something. Otherwise, the atmosphere was downright depressing. Inside was lovely as always, and the back patio area looked nice as well with heaters. So why was the front tented section so neglected? Not even a Halloween decoration. Food was good (a little salty this time), but difficult to enjoy in the setting.
Not as many heaters as we were told when we made reservation
For such an expensive restaurant, having to sit outside with not enough heaters is not really acceptable. I understand the struggle for restaurants but I can't pay $100 for a steak that is cold because we have to eat outside. We love the restaurant but the outdoor situations without more heaters is not going to work.
Amazing food and service
Food and ambiance was great! I felt safe eating here.
First time here. The ambiance is amazing. Next time we will sit at the bar. It has a lot of character. The steak was one of the best I have had. So buttery tender. Amazing experience overall.
The oysters ,crabcake, drinks so yummy !!I would recommend Swift and Sons to everyone great atmosphere!!
we came to celebrate and had the best meal of our life. As two people who work in the service industry, it’s not always easy to find a spot we both love, but Swift & Sons was amazing. The food was fantastic, cocktails were unique and delicious, wine was outstanding and the service made the night. Jose was attentive, knowledgeable, and went out of his way to make this a night we would remember. 10/10 would recommend.
But no doughnuts best Steak House in Chicago!!!
Food wasn’t great . Service was good . Really only good if you don’t care much about spending money on Ok-ish food and are with large parties. Drink lots and it will be fine
Absolutely amazing service all the way around! I’ll definitely be back. I highly recommend this place for any event.
Entrées were amazing, apps were OK. Rock shrimp needs something. Server was nice but timing was off.
It was alright. Somewhere else would have been better for sure. Steaks were just alright.
This review is purely for booking reservations. Pay attention to the fine print indoor or outside dining. I took my guy there for Sweetest Day this past weekend. Our reservation was for 8:30PM OUTSIDE! It was freezing and windy so outdoor heaters were of no use. I couldn’t believe they would attempt to seat outdoors with 60 degree weather.
Unfortunately we couldn’t stay. The food and experience would have been awful dining al fresco.
Service and food was very good!
Everything tasted amazing and we felt very taken care of.
Hostess’ very awkward and rude.
The food was very good but the rest of the experience left a lot to be desired. Indoor dining was full so we were seated outside. There were 4 or 5 tables directly next to heat lamps and I requested to be put at one and was told they were reserved. Not one of the tables was used the entire time we were there. We also mentioned that we were celebrating a birthday and that was not acknowledged by anyone. We ordered several plates to share and instead of coursing them out for us everything was brought at once so the dishes were all cold within minutes of being brought to the table. The whole experience was not worth what we paid for it.
Nice specials occasion restaurant. Pricey but good.
Nice restaurant, loved the dry age steak it was very tasteful. And the drinks were good as well
Great ambience. Food was good but I didn’t feel it lived up to its Michelin rating. Service was awful - had yo look around and wait for our server multiple times. I probably wouldn’t visit again, there just wasn’t anything particularly outstanding about this place
My wife and I went for the Beef Wellington as we heard Swift the sweet potato and roasted squash were very good but the macaroni was a little dry; it needed to be creamier.
Cathy was outstanding!! She was very attentive, friendly, and a real pleasure to have take care of us; she really knows what customer service means.
We're not sure if we'd go back as the food wasn't up to scale especially for a place like this; Cathy's excellent service is what made our visit pretty good.
Birthday which unfortunately they did not do much about.
Always Amazing! Love the old fashion beverage cart!!
Took a long time between courses. Soup came out cold. Porterhouse was cold, when asked to heat they didn't just heat it, they overcooked it. It was horrible. Waiter understood and the manager righted the situation but did so with quite the attitude. Given all the top notch and trendy steakhouses in Chicago, the food, service, and ambience were very disappointing and below the value. Will not be recommending this restaurant to others and probably will not return.
Waited 45 minutes between appetizers and entrees. It was not busy for a Saturday evening (COVID era). The most disappointing this was the quality of the food. The first courses (wedge salad and French onion soup) were very good. We al agreed that the house burger, which each of had, were too salty. Three different diners came to the same conclusion. The French fries that accompanied them were cold, over-salted and a meager portion. The Mac n cheese is a pass for sure—unlike the burgers and fries, it was under-seasoned and bland. The cocktails were great—balanced and delicious. For three people, who had two soups and a salad, two burgers (two of the three of us split one) and five drinks, $300 (including tip) is steep. We were unimpressed. The long wait and inattentive service were salt (as if we needed more) in the wound...
The Beef Wellington is unbelievable. The rest of the food was top notch as well.
We had a wonderful meal, all the food was great and reasonably priced for what you would expect. The COVID protocol of checking tempratures, distancing tables, and wearing masks was well followed. Would recommend for anyone that wants a nice night out and a safe dining experience.
50th birthday celebration. My steak was burnt on one side, server forgot to bring a requested food item to table.
Fantastic dinner! This was mine and my husband's first night out together (without the kids) since before covid and we really enjoyed it! We are devotees of Gibsons but this place really gives them a run for their money. Our steaks were cooked perfectly, and our side dishes were so good! The blistered shishitos were especially good; I could eat a whole portion on my own of those! We were there to also celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary and they gave us a little box of truffles after dinner, which was a nice touch. I would definitely recommend this place! The staff were all very friendly and efficient as well.
Good dinner. I mentioned it was my brothers birthday and spent nearly $1k and no one did anything for him. Waiter accidentally gave us an appetizer we didn’t order. Made us feel guilty for eating it.
I love Swift & Sons so I’ll be back one day but not for a while. Definjtely not my favorite experience I’ve had over the past few years.
For the high price, I didn't think the cocktails, Beef Wellington, or dessert was worth it. Everything was just OK. Nothing wow'd us.
Food was good. I’ve just had better for that price point. Service felt a bit rushed and not as personal. Went for an experience and left underwhelmed.
Great food & the hostess at the front desk was fantastic. I apologize I did not get her name!
The food was undoubtedly amazing, but the drinks could have been slightly stronger. Had to sit outside due to not realizing that was what the reservation was for. The night was rainy but not bad enough that the umbrellas didn't protect from.
Very cold, wish they did a better job keeping guests outside warm. Only couple of heaters and one didn't work.
Tasty food. Good experience. Hostess a little frigid, but we know how hostess can be. They hold the power
