Sweetfire Kitchen - La Cantera Resort and Spa
Food and service was very good. Our drink order took a long time, my martini was half full.
We were disappointed in the level / quality of service. Instead of seating us at tables that were already setup for 5, they chose to seat us at a table for 4 and add a chair with incomplete silver settings. Our coffee cups where dirty with lipstick. Our sever was absent most of the visit as we had to go to the bar for our on refills. As a resort hotel with 5stars we expected a higher level of customer service.
The food was great. The prime rib was a little over cooked but then again we sidnt arrive until 1 so that should have expected on our part since it had been sitting until the warming lamp. The seafood was fresh and delicious. The made to order barbacoa station was awesome as well as the crepe station.
We will go back just with a different mental expectation of what they consider 5star service.
The whole meal was disappointing and not worth the money. Will not go back, there are much better places only 5 min drive away.
Pretty underwhelming overall. Service slow and not enthusiastic at all. Food was fair.
It was lovely food and great service, we had breakfast it was very quiet
Liked it. Not too fancy, in fact, very causal. Food was excellent and Karl was one of the best waiters we've ever had for overall attention!
We absolutely loved La Cantera Resort. The food was wonderful. I feel that Sweetfire could be wonderful as well but the service was just extremely slow. The waitress and hostesses were VERY VERY nice...it just took so much time to receive anything. Our cocktails did not come out for nearly 30 minutes. When we initially sat down we waited over 10 minutes just to be greeted by our server. She was extremely nice but definitely they need more hands on deck. This is not a review based on how we were treated...just a review based on time. At a luxury resort it should not take that long for a cocktail.
Wait staff left quite a bit to be desired
Awful. The service was ok and the food was subpar. When we asked for tools to break my friends lobster the chef argued with her. Very unprofessional. I also made them aware of an allergy I had at the beginning of the meal. They brought my food out with the one ingredient I said I was allergic to. Thank god I know what to look for in my food because they came back and said oh yeah it has it in there but that’s the only way we make it. So, you were going to let me eat it and just hope it didn’t cause anaphylaxis?!? The manager wasn’t much help and admitted the service wasn’t great but they were getting better. Will not go back.
Great food, great service and great atmosphere. I recommend.
Food was great but a little pricey with not many options on Valentines menu. The service from the start was off. Hostess wasn’t very hospitable and our server was hard to find. He took pretty long to bring our wine and being that we could not find him we didn’t get to order another glass. He dropped the food and we didn’t see him until we flagged another waiter for our bill. He dropped the bill without a word and came back to pick up without a word. After finally dropping back off the card after ten minutes he again just dropped the bill without a word. His demeanor was very cold and didn’t say thank you for dining with us. We felt like bodies is this restaurant rather than guests. With the amount this place charges you wills think they would have better service.
Four star potential but 1 1/2 Star service
We went to the restaurant on Valentine’s Day. I was not impressed with the food and the service was kind of slow.
Reasonable setting; service sometimes slow.
Menu somewhat uninspiring
Attended dinners cocktail conference dinners and brunch there. All outstanding. This time was so bad we left. One hour to get cocktail m, French 75 was not drinkable... cognac champagne and a cherry not ingredients in a French75. Only got appetizer which was a pizza that somehow arrived before the drink... how can a pizza cook faster?
Had to leave after 1:30. Nothing to drink. Unimpressive appetizer.
We wanted to try Sunday brunch buffet. It’s $45 pep person. While the food was ok it was not great. For what we got it was not worth the price. The buffet included Bloody Mary bar , I don’t think it actually had any alcohol in it. We were disappointed.
We were not impressed. We even ordered dessert. Not a fan.
Took both my children 10yrs and 11yrs old to have Breakfast with the Grinch. LOVED everything about the event. The Sweet Fire kitchen along with the Resort was perfect to the T. My children had a blast and so did I. I more than likely enjoyed the event much more than them. Thank you to Sweet Fire kitchen and La Cantera Resort for hosting such a wonderful gathering and for welcoming so many children.
Sweetfire's food is excellent. Reasonable pricing for the quality and selection. High-energy atmosphere, almost loud.
Very enjoyable experience! Food was amazing!
We had a really weird experience at SweetFire Grill. We were staying at the hotel for a girls weekend getaway and we went to dinner at SweetFire Grill. The restaurant was very, very load and the hostess came over to our table and told us that we needed to be quiet. So, we said let’s just pack up our food and take it back to our room. We got up and left and went back to the room. The hostess and wait staff then brought the food to our room bringing along the guest that complained about us being loud. We sort of figured out that the guest was just having fun with us, and joking around, but the hostess and staff were totally clueless and it was handled very awkwardly and we were very upset that the hotel staff brought another hotel guest to our room. Surely, that violates hotel policy. It made us very uncomfortable that another guest that we did not know, now knew where our hotel room was. The food was ok, but MUCH more training is needed. Not sure if we will return to La Cantera Resort. Which is too bad, we’ve had several girls nights here and always have had a good experience.
Cory and team we're super! They made us feel welcome and special!
Very limited menu and completely different from online.
The manager was extremely accomodating to our desire for a quiet table, as the restaurant really isn't built for a romantic dinner. Our server, Ciera, was phenomenal, and the food was incredible. A great night and experience all around!
There 6 people in our party, and everyone agreed that this was the worst service ever. Items were served sporadically to each member of our party. One entree never arrived. We asked for a wine list, and never got it. We asked for knives, and never got them. Waitress was never available. After requesting the manager- his only response was "sorry". Terrible evening- our first and last visit.
We had dinner at Sweetfire Kitchen. I had salmon, mashed potatoes and roasted brussel sprouts. The salmon was EXCELLENT... it was cooked to perfection and served hot! The disappointment was with the remainder of the meal. The potatoes were less than even lukewarm... a pat of butter I placed on top never melted. Ditto for the brussel sprouts -- stone cold. My companion ordered pizza which was "tasty" and served appropriately hot.
The next morning we gave Sweetfire another chance with breakfast. I ordered eggs benedict. The English muffin was not properly toasted, the eggs were overcooked to the point that there was no runny yolk at all. The Hollandaise sauce was near tasteless... and all stone cold. My companion ordered an omelet which was deemed "tasty" and appropriately hot. It came with some form of cubed potatoes which were, unfortunately, stone cold.
For the remainder of our 3-day stay, we dined at their Primero Cantina. Both of our meals there were excellent AND the food was served appropriately hot. I CAN recommend La Cantera's Primero Cantina!
I hope La Cantera addresses the issue of food temperature at their Sweetfire Kitchen. I believe it could be a very pleasant dining experience with a little more attention to temperature and cooking time.
Sat outside and enjoyed the awesome view. The food was excellent, cocktails were mixologist style and I couldn't recommend it more.
The ginger carrot soup was too salty as was the salmon and the Brussels Sprouts. The chef needs to leave the salt shaker alone for a bit. The service was rough. The waiter was harried and told us he had outside tables too that’s why he kept forgetting things. We got a bottle of white with no chiller. Asked him twice. Finally when food arrived we asked the person who delivered the food to find us one. It’s a lovely restaurant with lots of potential but needs a little management assistance.
My husband and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary here and the food was phenomenal. It was reasonable priced for the quality of food, drink and service received.
Love this restaurant!!! Romantic, beautiful ambience and the attention to detail was superb
Beautiful restaurant and beautiful, wonderful food. We visited for restaurant week and so surprised how wonderful it was. Will definitely come again and bring guest with us. We only live 25min away and it completely worth it for the service, food, and ambience.
Some people might not be aware of the fact that you don't have to be a guest to eat at the La Cantera Resort. The resort is a wonderful place and the Sweetfire is a good restaurant. We had brunch there. It’s not very expensive. The food was delicious and the views of the landscape was beautiful. Staff were polite and helpful.
Had a quick one day getaway and didn't want to leave the hotel for any reason...we ate all our meals there - lunch, dinner, and brunch. Every meal was excellent! Friendly efficient service, delicious and unique menu items. loved it!
Food was absolutely excellent, we had the braised short rib and strip bass.
Great price for a great meal! Thought our bill was wrong when we got it as it was way less than expected for a resort restaurant
I felt like I was in the romper room. Kids we’re running around like it was a circus. For the price point, it should not be advertised as a nice restaurant if it’s not. I’ve had more peaceful meals at chic-fil-a.
We really enjoyed the quail jalapeño poppers!
Service was terrible. Our waiter Jaime was terrible. My husband walked up and gave the girl our names and said we had a reservation and she printed out the ticket and handed it to our waiter and said take them to their seat and he asked who? My husband and I were the only two people standing there. He brought us water and never came back to ask for a drink order other than water until about 30 minutes later. It took him 25 minutes to bring out my mimosa and my sister ordered coffee and a mimosa and he didn't bring the mimosa at all. You would think someone would keep bringing those out because thats an addition to the tab.
Have eaten here multiple times- food usually great, salads this time seemed less quality. The rest was very good, mildly pricey for a burger, ok for great Shrimp & Grits, appetizers good. More locals (like us) should try it- the atmosphere at the resort is great!
We has a nice experience at SweetFire Kitchen. We were fortunate to dine on an evening when a few wines, including a Kistler white, were on sale, so that made the dinner all the better. We started with the chacuterie plate which was well prepared and tasty. For the entree, I had the wood-fired salmon and it was wonderful. Others in our party had the steak, bone-in pork chop and halibut. The food was really good and prepared as requested. The only complaint was the restaurant was not crowded at all, but it took a really long time to be served our meal. We arrived at 7:45 and it was after 9:30 before our main courses were served. Overall, we had a delightful time, but don’t be in a hurry if you go.
