Sweetfire Kitchen - La Cantera Resort and Spa
The food was not as good as last year and the service was not that great either.
Service was very good and the facility is nice. Gluten free crust on the pizza was not good, wasn’t completely cooked. Overall value for what I paid for the total meal was just ok.
Food was ok. Very expensive and not worth the price. I rather go out and eat somewhere else then to dine in the resort. Also the menu didn't have much options either. That's why I strongly suggest eating somewhere out of the resort
We had a great meal at sweetfire. The resort grounds are beautiful, it was nice to walk around the lobby and back lawn area before dinner. We self-parked for free. We were seated right away with our reservation on a Sunday evening. Service was quick. We enjoyed our food, but did think it was a little overpriced for a nice casual meal. I guess that’s what you get at a nice resort though. We enjoyed our peach cheesecake too! We will hopefully be back another time.
The website in no way indicated that they only have a buffet on Sundays, so I arrived to discover my only option was the buffet. It was $45 a person for really mediocre food. This reminded me of a souped up Holiday Inn breakfast. Would not have come had I known it was a buffet, and I feel completely ripped off for the sub par food quality.
We came for Sunday Brunch....Mark was fantastic and the food choices were out of this world!!!!
Nothing really impressed us. Food was good, not great. Need more selection. Ordered a mixed drink and didn't get. Reminded wait staff when brought food.
Our server Emilia
The service was great and the meal was delicious!! We would highly recommend it!
Not too bad.... I'd go back. Go eat at 8pm, and enjoy the Fiesta Texas fireworks at 9:30pm.
The food was not fresh or hot. The service wasn’t great, it seemed like we were bothering her. $24 for that continental breakfast was ridiculous. I could have gotten hot fresh food at the Holiday Inn. Will not recommend.
The service was impeccable and all our dishes were excellent. Our waiter was very attentive and answered our questions along with helping make recommendations. We could not have asked for a better experience’
Bella was absolutely fantastic also the new girl on crepes was friendly and accommodating
Great service and great food!
I made reservations in advance for our anniversary, it was never acknowledged by hostess or waiter. Service was awful, staff was indifferent at best. We just spent a weekend at the resort with our family and spent a lot of money there, but no one seemed concerned about making us feel welcome or comfortable. Waited extensively for high chair that we had to ask for several times. Flies outside are rampant. Too bad because food is good.
People were nice. Food was decent, speed was terrible. 20 minutes to get 2 wine glasses, 40 minutes for a gin and tonic. At one point they told us they ran out of utensils. They served us our desert and then took 5 more minutes for forks. You don’t tease people like that.
It was a very refreshing atmosphere the staff was simply amazing. They offer a wide range of options and the overall experience was nothing less than amazing!
Way overpriced. $70 and didn’t include mimosas. Not offered juice. $11 to valet was higher than equivalent places. Better brunches in town.
Went again this year for mother's day. At $70 a plate for adults it's not cheap, but not do you get your money's worth. Take your time and enjoy as much as you an. Wait staff is awesome as well. Small suggestion, a brunch buffet without pancakes is just not right. Crepes are no substitute. Lol. That small gripe aside, amazing. We came here last what for the same and it was just as well done.
The food was excellent and the service matched. Due to being a resort the noise level was a little high, but would still highly recommend.
The people were really nice and the atmosphere was very calming!!
I can't believe how overpriced their Easter Brunch was. We were a group of 6 and our bill was almost $600. My fault for not double-checking the price before reserving but I never thought it would be so ridiculous :( When I told the waiter I was vegan and wanted to order off of the regular menu because the price tag wasn't really worth it for what I could probably eat, he said that wasn't possible so I asked what items on the buffet were vegan. He told me there was a vegan cupcake and that he would check about the others. I never heard about it again. So I had to go around to each station and figure it out myself. There were about three things I could enjoy. We had to ask for the mimosas that came with the buffet a couple times before he brought them over. The waiter also added his 18% gratuity for his less than stellar service which I felt was extremely unfair especially for a buffet! UGH, lesson learned... I'll never go back again.
The selection was awesome, the resort was beautiful and the service was great. The only negative was the tables looked a bit run down. Time for an upgrade!
Easter brunch was nice but overpriced.
Nice buffet options but a little pricey at $70 per person.
Server was sweet but forgot our wine and didn’t check on us for at least 30min.
Beautiful setting Gourmet dinner prepared with farm fresh ingredients. Friendly, attentive service.
Great dinner. The service suffered because of staffing issues.
We recently had the pleasure to indulge in the Sunday brunch buffet - Indulge being the operative word. It was amazing! So many amazing options- beautiful fresh seafood and fruit - Fantastic omelets and crepes made to order and the blood Mary bar was a special treat. Also Churros- need I say more! Thanks so much Sweetfire Kitchen for an amazing experience!
An excellent dinner and superlative location in which to entertain friends. We ate early (6:00 PM) and enjoyed the semi-privacy. By the time we finished dinner and desert, the restaurant was filling. This should be a must-do for Resort guests (and residents of San Antonio).
Food and service was very good. Our drink order took a long time, my martini was half full.
We were disappointed in the level / quality of service. Instead of seating us at tables that were already setup for 5, they chose to seat us at a table for 4 and add a chair with incomplete silver settings. Our coffee cups where dirty with lipstick. Our sever was absent most of the visit as we had to go to the bar for our on refills. As a resort hotel with 5stars we expected a higher level of customer service.
The food was great. The prime rib was a little over cooked but then again we sidnt arrive until 1 so that should have expected on our part since it had been sitting until the warming lamp. The seafood was fresh and delicious. The made to order barbacoa station was awesome as well as the crepe station.
We will go back just with a different mental expectation of what they consider 5star service.
The whole meal was disappointing and not worth the money. Will not go back, there are much better places only 5 min drive away.
Pretty underwhelming overall. Service slow and not enthusiastic at all. Food was fair.
It was lovely food and great service, we had breakfast it was very quiet
Liked it. Not too fancy, in fact, very causal. Food was excellent and Karl was one of the best waiters we've ever had for overall attention!
We absolutely loved La Cantera Resort. The food was wonderful. I feel that Sweetfire could be wonderful as well but the service was just extremely slow. The waitress and hostesses were VERY VERY nice...it just took so much time to receive anything. Our cocktails did not come out for nearly 30 minutes. When we initially sat down we waited over 10 minutes just to be greeted by our server. She was extremely nice but definitely they need more hands on deck. This is not a review based on how we were treated...just a review based on time. At a luxury resort it should not take that long for a cocktail.
Wait staff left quite a bit to be desired
Awful. The service was ok and the food was subpar. When we asked for tools to break my friends lobster the chef argued with her. Very unprofessional. I also made them aware of an allergy I had at the beginning of the meal. They brought my food out with the one ingredient I said I was allergic to. Thank god I know what to look for in my food because they came back and said oh yeah it has it in there but that’s the only way we make it. So, you were going to let me eat it and just hope it didn’t cause anaphylaxis?!? The manager wasn’t much help and admitted the service wasn’t great but they were getting better. Will not go back.
