Lovely evening, great service.
Will gladly return again.
Look like it was short on staff and the eggs were cold. Very unusual normally excellent. Restaurant made everything right.
Love this restaurant. Dinner specials are always my go to, but why wouldn’t u get something off the menu? Drinks are always tasty, service always accommodating, and food pretty much consistently delicious. Live music outside on a Friday night while having drinks and eating… ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Food and service was excellent! We will be back again and again!
Great service and excellent food. The pasta primavera included the best sun dried tomatoes I ever had. My wife raved about her crabakes.
The wine and cocktail selection is excellent however the beer choices were mediocre. I went away from the alcoholic beverage choices and had the freshly squeezed lemonade and I am glad I did.
Beware the noise level in this place is very loud.
Excellent food and service. We sat outside on a beautiful evening. The meal and drinks were more expensive than other restaurants in the area, so we'll probably return only on special occasions.
The food was good but for the price would have expected excellent. There was no ambience to the restaurant. I did not feel like I was having fine dining which is what the prices reflected. I felt like I was in a breakfast diner. Would not go back….
We had a great time. The shared Filet Medallions were delicious. So were our Salmon and Shrimp & Grits entrees. Only drawback to the evening was the noise level since we were seated at a table in the center of the room near the bar. Service was great and location is charming.
Sort of expected wearing face masks until seated. No one wearing masks - staff or customers. Seated in a two seat area fairly separated. Food - was excellent. Calamari appetizer, Shrimp and Grits and Scallops on mushroom risotto were both superb. (asked about Duck, Halibut and Scallops and was told Halibut and Scallops were favorites) Will try Duck next time. Bartender made a perfect Rusty Nail for both of us. Server not aware of what it was, but does now. Service was very good. Creme Brûlée was also excellent - We will be back soon
excellent food and service. The cream of crab soup and the shrimp tacos are both superb!
Pricey -- You get what you pay for !! Excellent food, huge portions.
Great as always! The food is delicious and unrivaled in this area. The service is also the best in SOMD. The price point seems a little high but you get what you pay for and Sweet Bay always delivers!
Excellent food. Relaxing experience with friends.
Great accommodations as we arrived early.
Great food and friendly professional service. Will definitely be back.
My wife and I needed a date night out. I had heard great things about Sweetbay Restaurant and Bar, so I thought we would give it a try. It definitely did not disappoint. We started with a few drinks and a shareable starter. We had the pan seared scallops, and they were excellent. For our main course we both had the pan seared duck breast with fingerling potato’s. It had a reduction sauce of bacon, mushrooms, and spinach. It was outstanding. We were both to full for desert, but it all looked so good. We would definitely go there again.
Was just awesome
Food presentation was beautiful and meal for all 3 was excellent. Noise level was high however..
It was an early Tuesday reservation 5:30 PM because we know we get better service.
This is one of my favorite restaurants. The food is great quality and prepared perfectly. We live locally and live having such a great place close by. The service is great!
Amazing food. Awesome service. I’m assuming the a/c was broken. It was very hot inside. Not our normal experience at SweetBay so hoping it is fixed soon.
The food was awesome. Mike, our waiter was terrific.
Steak was past well done. It was ordered medium. Duck was rubbery and improperly cooked . Duck breast should be roasted or seared so that the skin is crispy and the meat should have a texture similar to steak. This one appears to have been baked on low heat and served rare. The pasta primavera tasted overwhelming like sun dried tomatoes. Admittedly sun dried tomatoes are delicious, but there should be other flavors to compliment. The sugar crust on the creme brûlée was burned and tasted so. The ambiance is that of a roadside dinner on the tables and walls, but with chairs and lighting similar to a trendy inner city restaurant. The result is confusing and uncomfortable. Recommend eating outside if you must try this one at all. Or better, skip it all together and opt for any of the other fine restaurants in Leonardtown.
You have to order the calamari! So good, just the right amount of light breading and cooked to perfection! We so glad that the crab cakes were on the special menu...so good!
This my first time here and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. Will definitely be visiting again to try more of their delicious food.
Excellent dinner Wednesday evening. The ceviche was amazing. Both specials (crab cakes and red snapper) were delicious. Great service.
It was our son’s 16 birthday, so we wanted to take him somewhere special. Food and service were excellent!
Great service. Really impressed at how efficient the staff was. Food was delicious. We will be back.
Alex was our server. Awesome job! Dinner was delicious. Girlfriend had the special which was Seabass and I had the Paella.
I had the tuna tartar for app, girlfriend had a house salad. We shared the key lime for dessert. Nice place.
Server needs more experience which I understand.
Always a special with the great regular menu. My wife had the sea bass on rice special and I had the chicken Marsala which was enough to take home for lunch.
Wonderful food & service! Thank you!
My Wife's only complaint was the server seemed to socialize with his co-workers and was not quite attentive to the customers
Halibut was good n good portion. Corn n avocado salad was really good.
The Duck Breast was way overcooked, tasted like liver, small portion. On veggies, Not much spinach or mushroom, plenty of pancetta.
so 3 stars because the fish dinner was good n the Duck Breast dinner was nothing to brag about
This was our second time eating here and both were bad experiences. First time was on Father's Day and then Sunday. Had a reservation, arrived and seated inside right away. No on came to greet us. Hostess, Bar tender, and several of the servers saw us just sitting there. It was very busy outside. Started raining and everyone started to come inside. Someone finally came to our table but only to say we are taking half of your table since it is just the two of you and we have people from outside coming in to sit. I asked if a server was every going to come to our table now that we had been there over 30 minutes. Only reason we had not left was the storm and my daughter had really wanted to eat there for her special occasion. Hostess finally noticed we had nothing not even water. When a server came over she seemed annoyed that she had to help us. No one ever apologized. We ordered an appetizer and our meals along with drinks from the bar. The drinks were good. Everything else was cold. The traditional Egg Benedict hardly had any Hollandaise on it and the eggs were cold and tasted like vinegar. My daughter got the French Toast with fruit and the fruit was bad. It was so mushy and sour. Server never came back so we could not even let her know about the food. Very over priced for the food.
There aren't many places to have a gourmet meal in this area so Sweetbay really stands out for its creative cuisine. The service is always outstanding in our experience but the food is better some nights than others. Last night, our party enjoyed the rockfish special (broiled and served on forbidden rice -- delicious -- with romescu sauce); pasta primavera (nice assortment of vegetables w/ the pasta); brussel sprouts (broiled with excellent balsamic); and fennel/arugula salad (w/ citrus fruits and blackened shrimp). Nice selection of wines as well.
We love Sweetbay! The chef prepares delicious tuna tartare, shrimp ‘n grits, scallops & risotto and we even enjoyed steak frites! One of our shrimp ‘n grits entrees wasn’t served as warm as usual and one of the oysters on the half shell had lots of shell in it (others on the platter were fine though). Surprised that crab cakes were off the menu. Also surprised that our waitress wasn’t around much either as we had unusually long wait for initial cocktails and wine refill. Nonetheless we enjoy Sweetbay and always look forward to dining out “on the Leonardtown square.” They’ve set a high bar for restaurants in Leonardtown and the entire DC/MD area.
This was a special occasion dinner and it made for a good time out. The server was attentive without being over bearing. Food was amazing. Had their red snapper special...best fish I have had. And the paella was to die for. Only complaint was the risotto...tasted great but was a bit gummy. Still, I highly recommend this restaurant.
It was my wife’s birthday. The food, service, atmosphere was all excellent! We will certainly return soon.
