You need to take this off your list of restaurants as it has closed. It was great but what was not great was making a reservation with you, getting there, and finding it closed. Please update your list and remove this one. All the responses above are not valid as this place has closed.
Made a reservation and arrived only to find the restaurant closed.
Very fresh and flavorful food. The ice cream is a must!
Overall really liked this place... 4 foodies & a toddler giving business to an otherwise slow July 4th weekend. Appreciated they had a Friday HH, despite the website saying they did not. Soft shell crab was in season, delish! Particularly enjoyed the wings, lemongrass sausage and pickled vegetables.
The place was empty. One other table. We were part of a group of 7 people. 5 of us ordered drinks with our meal and the food came out before our drinks. I approached the bartender and asked about our drinks — he said “I don’t have any drink orders”.
I then approached the woman who took our order — she explained that the tickets weren’t printing. After figuring out our order, the drinks finally came.
2 of them were wrong and one of our martinis came in a wine glass — the bartender said “we don’t have any more clean martini glasses”
They should have offered us a discount or something,
but seemed to not care for the inconvenience.
Won’t ever go back.
Even though you order at the counter, the people who work here still take great care of you, coming out to your table to make sure you've got everything you need. They're also incredibly helpful when it comes to dietary restrictions; they were able to accommodate the soy allergy for my friend. The food is delicious, comforting, and filling, and the ice cream is creamy, and not overly sweet. We were able to nab a table outside and enjoy a perfect early summer evening.
Service was friendly, but uneven. We were there on a rainy Tuesday night, so the restaurant was almost empty. Staff explained that we would order at the counter, but we could sit and they'd be happy to bring us drinks before we ordered. We did so. Someone came by to ask if we had any questions about the menu. By now we have had three interactions with various staff members, but it was not until we went up to the counter to order that they informed us that three of the items (two of which we had planned to order) had been discontinued, and told us what was on offer instead. Also, no one had mentioned that Tuesday was the one day pad Thai was available.
We enjoyed our food. For starters, the lemongrass sausage was fabulous, and the pickle plate and glazed carrots were good. The pad Thai, pad see ew, and yellow curry were good. The rice bowl proportions seemed off, with the dish being overwhelmed by the toppings. We had noticed some condiment dishes on the counter, but they were never offered to us.
We were two couples, so appreciated the fact that the staff was willing to split the bill onto two credit cards.
We'd be content to eat here again, but it didn't make it to our "we'll recommend this to everyone we know" list.
Good ambience but unfortunately not authentic or rich in flavor.
Great food and very good service. Will definitely go back.
Our whole group really enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. The chicken wings were the best I've ever had (sorry Monte Carlo, you've been replaced). The staff was also very friendly. It wasn't as busy as it should have been on a Saturday. I hope more people stop in and give Sweet Chow a shot. We really enjoyed our meal and our overall experience.
Delicious food! Such a great combination of flavors and textures. I've already recommended this location to at least 5 people!
This restaurant is one that really isn't going to last, in fact, while there, it felt like it was on its way to closing. No table service, weird ambiance. The food was 'ok', the ice cream tasted like it was old and had freezer burn, and we constantly had to flag someone down to get water. I definitely won't be returning.
Great takes on Asian (mostly southeast asian) food with a few large plates and lots of small plates to sample. Lemongrass sausage and sticky rice is fantastic! Good beer list and cocktails looked interesting, too - will have to try one next time!
Near, clean, food attractively presented, price reasonable, would recommend for food that has Asian influences.
Clever balance of flavors in each dish. Creative, fresh. Fun and upbeat atmosphere with great lighting.
Creative dishes with bold flavors make Sweet Chow worth checking out and revisiting. I miss the darker colors and ambiance of Tangiers, but it’s still a lovely space with great character, lots of wood and light. The adjoining ice cream shop made dessert convenient, and offered nice flavor options as well. It’s counter service ordering, but the staff was attentive and helpful, and asked us about our meal and experience there, which was excellent.
Food was excellent. We were impressed by the service.
Nice spot. Good food. Would recommend. Parking during peak hours may be difficult...
Sat at bar for Valentines Day dinner ... great food and wonderful service.
The restaurant is open seating where you place your order at the front, are given a number, and pick an available table that suits your party. When booking through OpenTable, it seems odd for this setup. There is no hostess and the order taker/cashier isn’t really thinking reservations. I had to go back to the front and ask about the process do as not to have a no-show counted against me. Apparently if they start getting busy they will put a reserved sign on a table. If not busy, no effort.
The food was very good with house-made sauces to accompany the food. We shared a pear salad, pad see ew, and chicken pho. Only a few bits of chicken in the pho, but flavor was good.
This place has such great food, but service weirdness always ruins it for me. The bartender serving us was rude (he literally sprayed lime juice on us and didn't apologize) and yelled at a server right in front of us in the middle of service.
Food was ok, but the ordering was kind of confusing, food was a little salty as well.
It was a get together with friends and with reservations we got a great table for six. Loved that we could actually hear one another on a Saturday night. The food was terrific and came hot and without delay. I wasn’t expecting the ‘go to the counter to order’ but after the initial weirdness it was ok as they knew who was in are party and we did ask for a few things from the servers as food came out. Would definitely return!
Waiting over 40 minutes for the pou and it never arrived so we had them refund our money
Fried rice is a MUST. Delish. The staff is extremely nice - specialty cocktails were really good and unique. The spicy Thai margarita was smoky with just the right spice. Recommend for those that like to try new and different. Nice space and not loud which is refreshing when having dinner and holding a conversation.
The staff was attentive and even checked on us specifically to make sure we were enjoying our drinks.
Will definitely be back.
